List of what I have

Montgomery, TX(Zone 9a)

Your welcome there are lots of sites that sddress the subject. Just Google Text messaging.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Well I do not need to know much. I have enough trouble with my plain cell phone-which I only have for emergency. After 3 years caring for my dad, and being out of the working world for 11 years and away form the dog showing world for 13 years I have not to many people to reach out to touch. LOL

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I KNOW WHAT IT IS!!!!!! I went to the Ace over near here on Arlington Road. They had one. I was not in as good a shape as yours but I get it. It is a Rhipsalis mine is a "Twist" blooms in fall yellow-white. I all so bought a NOI epi- I felt sorry for them. There are three more. She said she watered them every day, but they do not look like it and not surprising as they are potted in something like black sand. I tossed my two in the dog pool for a minute then washed all the dirt I could off them and reported.I ended up with 2 of the Rhipsalis. They also have been getthing way to much sun. I may make a mercy run later in the week and get those other 3.

Also get two new Christmas cactus a red and white one and a hot pink and white one. Pictures later.

That's so cool , I will have to look up the rhipsalis. I always thought they were round like pencil cactus and such. There must be diff kinds (species). Gosh I learn so much on here everyday!! If mine blooms yellow dh will be happy!
DH went back to that walmart today and got a magenta, a lavender, and another yellow (he likes yellow everything lol!) Xmas cactus. He also went to that ace and got a Amaryllis Bulb called 'Minerva' that is sort of burnt orange and white. It was 17.99 which I think is alot and I am really suprised that he got it lol.

Chickenville, FL(Zone 9a)

I think mine might look like this one. Rhipsalis micrantha. What do you think?

http://cactiguide.com/cactus/?genus=Rhipsalis&species=micrantha

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Mine does not look like any of those. It is a three sides stem.

The amaryllis can be planted in the grown and it will multiple. I have a lot of amaryllis.

Check to see what yours is planted in. Mine was just plain soil. Did not hold any water at all. There are 3 more epis at the Arlington Rd ACE if you are interested. They need care but I believe they can be revived. And the growth patter is interesting. The epi that I get has very short stems. That stand straight up.

Drum roll please------ I now have a grand total of 201 epi, 18 Christmas cactus and 1 easter cactus.

Wow!
What an epi nut!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Yes some one stop me!!!!!!!

Chickenville, FL(Zone 9a)

The one I got has mostly flat narrow leaves. There are a few triangular older stems but almost all are flat.
I like the 'twist' one you got, I looked that up and it looks interesting. Yours will all have a good home now :) I'm glad you found some. It isn't often that we ever see anything like that around here lol.

Mine was planted in straight peat and was real soggy looking.. It was staying way too wet I think and some parts were rotting because of it.
I dumped it out when I got home and washed and bleached out the hanging basket. Then I replanted with orchid mix, jungle growth, perlite, and a little sand mixed in. I put in a little bit of bone meal too. There was some old dead pieces and some leaves that were half dead so I took those off and am trying to root the good parts in separate pots.

Those xmas cactus don't like how cold it got last night and the night before here. I had them outside on the shaded patio, and about 8pm I went out to check on them and a couple had drooped way over, their soil was still wet too.
So they have been spending the nights indoors and look normal again.. They must have been greenhouse kept so are needing to be hardened off a little at a time.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Sounds like we have two different types, After they recover we will need to trade.

I brought my two new CC in to.

Well back to planing benches. Now I am planing a potting bench. Any ideas out there. PVC and hardware cloth(i think plastic not metal) and a large plastic container to catch and store the soil in.

Montgomery, TX(Zone 9a)

I'd like to see some pictures of all your construction. You are a real go getter there.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I will take picture. Right now it is in the planing stage. do to money restrictions I plan on doing the benches in stages but with pvc joints that I can add on to.
http://www.greenhousemegastore.com/products.asp?dept=1160 Has the pvc joints
http://www.greenhousemegastore.com/prodinfo.asp?number=SN-5WY this is the main joint I am going to use for the plant benches.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Great I see a few that I do not have. thanks

Lubbock, TX

I forgot one Species Selenicereus grandiflorus.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

that one sounds interesting are the flowers "grand" One of the few scientific names I can translate. LOL

Lubbock, TX

I buy from Epiphyllum World and Matts Landscape (He is building a website so he doesn't have to depend on ebay.) Both offer quality cuttings. Others thru trades.

Lubbock, TX

Mine is hasn't bloomed yet but from the pictures Yes it is grand.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Hayu when Matts landscape gets his website up let us know please!!!! Once I finish the rest of the benches I will have a LOT of extra room. LOL

Sandy the epi nut.

Chickenville, FL(Zone 9a)

I have bought several epi cuttings from Matt's landscape and they were very nice. DH recently bought 2 different named dragon fruit cuttings from him as well, not only did he send xtra cutting of ea one but a free epi cutting as well... How Cool is that !!

Chickenville, FL(Zone 9a)

I really need to update my list again..I have way more than I did b4 lol.

Pawleys Island, SC

I was wondering about Matts landscape. He has some beautiful varieties. Mine have taken over the aviary and my porch is full of other plants, if I get anything this year, something else is going to have to risk survival in the great outdoors. LOL

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

do like I did built a epi house out of pvc pipe. It takes two people but it is not hard. And if you use screws to fasten the pipes and joints together you can enlarge it of change the size or if a pipe is broken you can easily fix it. I am also building benches, I have finished the first 8 ft section and boy do I have mover room. I will have to take pictures when it stops raining. Let me know if you want more info about building one.

Pawleys Island, SC

That would be a great idea, but I don't have anymore yard space that I could conceivably put another shed. LOL We have a workshop, storage shed, greenhouse and aviary all stretched across the back property line, I just can't see where to put another building. Maybe I talk my neighbor into loaning me a corner of her yard.... I would promise to keep it neat and have something blooming as much as possible...... Hmmmm

Lubbock, TX

I asked my neighbors if I could borrow their large trees. After they saw the pictures of the flowers they said yes. I have 3-4 that should bloom this year. I put my epis in the garage under lights for the winter.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

That's an idea. If fact both are good ideas.

I have the room just not the ability to take care of more.

Fleming Island, FL(Zone 9a)

I defiantely need to get "interested" in these. I have broms hanging in a couple trees but they can definately use some company. And my landscape at the FL homestead is mostly "barren" . Next time I'm in FL I;d really like to come and visit the couple of you that have the "collections".

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Well unless they are blooming there is not much to look at. But you will be welcome to come.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I think I just found out the name of my new pink plant

I left out all of my boston ferns and they froze a few weeks ago. Do you think it may have been subconsious so that I could hang my epies in the trees? I cannot wait until I can put them outside again.
Alot of the cuttings I started in the fall are putting out new growth, but some are being stubborn.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I have a few of the stubborn ones too. And of course it was a subconsious wish to have room for more epis. LOl

I have a lot of new growth. I really wish I had the epi house built last summer.

Prattville, AL

Sandy, are you going to put any on the Marketplace? I have none to trade so would have to get cuttings there.
Thanks
Lynn

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

In time I might. Right now I will just give them a way, I am not interested in making money. Right now most of mine are to young to take cuttings from except my new one and when I repot it there will probable be a lot of broken off pieces.

Send me a d-mail with your address and I will add you to my future list and if I brake any pieces off I will let you know.

Sandy
