List of what I have

Marks, MS(Zone 7b)

looks like ants to me...thats what they do to my plants.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Thanks for the suggestions.
The problem is there are no ants around that area. Even the fire ants have disappeared sense the hurricane. Oh well I put down a layer of news paper and a overlapping layer of light gray ground cloth. At least now I can see any creatures and I plan to but something around the legs of the shelves to stop any thing going up. We do have a garden snail that is a pain, but I have not seen any around the epis.

I do have a couple of broken pieces-one that may or maynot be "Eden" (6-8 in long) And two pieces of seedlings. Anyone interested let me know.

Sandy, Your dog is beautiful. Maybe you can train it to chase the epi-bitting bugs!

Northern California, United States(Zone 9a)

Ohh, neat shelves, I need some. Where did you find yours?

Sandy, what color is Eden? you want to trade for a couple of pieces that broke off of mine? I just stuck them in a nearby pot and they already rooted. No idea which ones, probably from my two unnamed ones shown on the top of my list here, not sure though. Could be one of the named ones too.

Eden is a white(It might and might not be eden but that is my closes guess) and the seedlings could be any color-I bought a lot of mystery seeds. I would love to trade. D-mail me you address and I will get you mine back. Mine are not rooted.

The shelves came from www.growerssupply.com/farm/supplies/prod1;gs1_greenhouse_display_racks;pg102444.html

The there are four shelves but it is not strong enough to hold up weight on all four so I took them apart and make lower shelves.

Lowellsf Thank you He is a beautiful BRATT. he does chase the squirrels. He also like to have his picture taken.

I have been doing laundry and now need to rest. Talk at you later

Sandy, I used to use the diatomaceous earth, but it made my dogs cough really bad. If you haven't used it around your gorgeous squirrel chaser before, be careful with him. Maybe try egg shells or something for the slugs and snails.

Sue they're adorable! Sandy, is your a Shilo Sheppard? If he/she is that is the second one I've ever seen. The one I saw in person is a whoply 120 lbs. beautiful dog. Boys, I'm drooling over all those lists you all have.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Cute Pair. Mine likes the mailman. I know one strange dog. He has caught 3 squirrels so far. Then he could not understand why they would not play with him.

I think what I will do is put legs of the shelves in tin pans with the diatomaceous earth in them or place tins pans with beer in them to see if there are any slugs or snails around. They where on a lower shelf next to the edge of the plastic grown cover. Now they are either on a higher shelf or in the middle of the shade house, so maybe what ever can not find them.

No Andre is a Belgian Tervuren he should only way 65 but he is overweight at 80, he countersurfs and trash can dives I finally found a trash can that he can't get into, hopefully soon I can teach DM to put up the food.. He is the third one to run my life.

Thank you. I can not say no to a epi.

Sue, What cute dogs, and I couldn't help but notice the mosiac planter behind them. Very pretty.

Sandy, you have just got perfect growing conditions...your plants are very happy!

Sarah

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

They are now. Once I put them in the temp shade house they took off growing. Now with the improved shade house I hope they really grow. I am planing to improve the shade house and build benches. Then I can buy more epis. LOL

I have it it the back yard. The back yard is small, so It is hard to get a picture of more than a small bit of it. There is aluminum building to the north of it so that will block some of the cold air from the north and the house is on the west side of it so that blocks cold air and hot afternoon sun off of it. It still get about 8+hours of sun so I need to get more shade cloth. Well back to bench designing.

Ok I just came in from the shade house. I have a 3,000,000 candle watt spot light.(Really good for scarring people who are doing things in the park across the street!!!!!! I gave a biker with a really loud machine a good scare he does not race his bike through the neighborhood at 2am anymore. LOL )

Anyway no signs of ants, snails or slugs yet. Did find a piece broken off one of the seedlings and rolled flat. Darn hairy brat!!!!! If I wake up before daylight I will check again. The dew might bring any out if they are there. Or I may have solved the problem when I moved everything and laid down the cloth grown cover.

Good luck to you wren107

Sandy, Your christmas cactus look great. Where in the world did you find those clay pot hangers? They are awesome! I need to take everything out of the aviary for a few days and let it get some fresh air. I don't think our temperatures are going to drop for a little while. It will give me a chance to scrub everything out there too. Gotta run, I'll check in later. Linda

Ps. Sue, You have 2 cuties too. I need to get some pics of my brats.............

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I get them from Amazon.com and they are called "plant penguins" .and you can make a chain of them.
(You can find anything you want to from Amazon.com)

Chickenville, FL(Zone 9a)

I had that same white fuzzy stuff on a hibiscus a few wks ago! I hate whiteflies.
I cut off some of the leaves that were really bad and sprayed the rest with oil soap mix, I guess you have to keep doing it. Some came back already ;(

I love your dog photos. We have a pomeranian and a black lab. The pom is male and the lab female. He loves her and tries to act like the male protector but is a little shrimp next to her lol. We also have cats and crazy parrots.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Thanks thankfully the brat is the only one I have and he is more enough.

Pawleys Island, SC

Thanks Sandy, I will look them up now. I found some brat pictures.....

Chickenville, FL(Zone 9a)

I picked up two more christmas cactus today. One is white and one is yellow. The walmart in Mandarin has them in alot of diff sizes and colors. Some are blooming.

I also found this weird epi looking cactus in a hanging basket at a diff nursery today..... It looks just like the other epis but has thinner/skinnier leaves that are really flat and longer thin spines. It is really dark green. I will post a photo if anyone wants to try to id it here?
Lenette

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Please post a picture. Did you also find it at that walmart.

Chickenville, FL(Zone 9a)

No I found it at ace hardware that has a Hall's nursery there in Mandarin. It was the only one I saw. It didn't have any tags on it but the price LOL! I am curious to what it is. Let me go take a photo brb.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I know the nursery. A very nice one.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Interesting. let me go look at some picture I will be right back

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I can't find the picture but I know I have seen something like that. I have a couple that have very narrow leave/stems but non with the white spine thingy. I will look at my plants tomorrow. I would very much like to see that one bloom.

Chickenville, FL(Zone 9a)

Thanks for checking for me. I hope it blooms next year lol. I had to repot it because it was in straight peat and staying too wet. It should do better now. There were several leaves that looked half dead so I cut them and trying to root them now-hope they take.

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

I have been looking at picture and yours might be a min epi. I found one that had a leave stem like yours in the back ground but could not tell if the flower belonged to it. I guess we will just have to wait and see. I hate waiting.LOL

Chickenville, FL(Zone 9a)

Yeah me too lol. Maybe tomorrow I will try posting the pic over at the epiforums. Maybe someone might know over there. I am sure it is prob. something real common being that it came from Ace. I am just curious now LOL!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

If we do not already have it in our collection it is not common to us. I just wonder if it is one of the species. Next year I will be glad to trade with you.

Sandy the epi nut.

Chickenville, FL(Zone 9a)

Sure no prob. I can prob trade some this spring, that is if you still want it after we find out what it is lmao!!

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Yes I do not have one that looks like that. But we may never know what it is even after it blooms. there are so many epis and some look a lot alike. I am not good on the letter thing what does Imao means?????? There is now way that I would every be able to tex message.
Sandy the epi nut.(showing my age.)

Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Sandy,

LMAO means laughing my a** off. You might also see ROFLMAO which means rolling on the floor laughing my a** off. You gotta get with the times, girl!!!

Sarah

Jacksonville, FL(Zone 8b)

Thank you Is there a tex massage dictionary? I have enough trouble spelling words out. Three times cracking my head hard does not help. Thankfully the Foxfire has a spell check, sometime even it can not help me. Its weird I can picture a design for my greenhouse and benches but not a word.

Well I will be checking out my Walmart and Ace to see what they have.

Sandy the confused epi nut.
