Fortunately, I got a new dryer last week and it has some drying options other than HOT! So, into the dryer he went, hoping to avoid the frizzies he suffered at Sandy’s.
The Gnomes Visit the Nation's Capital
I finally scooped them all up to go home. This is their last day with me. Tomorrow I plan to get them in the mail to cybercrone.
I had hoped to finish capes for them but am finding it a bit more of a challenge than I expected. If I don't get them finished, I'll enclose the fabric with them in the hope that one of the people still planning to host the lads will have the time to finish their winter capes.
If I DO get them finished, I'll take one more picture. I think the lads have had a good time in Ottawa but I also think they are getting anxious to continue their trip. I'm sorry that the snow got in the way of my getting together with threegardeners as I think she would have liked to have met them and I know that I would have liked to have met her as well.
Lovely picture, Ann ^_^
A-DOR-able picture! And I'm all verklempt at having an Ottawa b-day cake and all ...!
Handbells - wow. Just think of all the experiences they will have chalked up by the end of their journey of just a few months!
Sandy
Happy Belated Birthday Sanannie!! :-)
Pretty soon, you'll catch up to me LOL
Great pics, Viola! Would love to visit our nation's capital :-))
Tallulah - I hope you do visit some day. And let me know. I really enjoy playing tour guide.
I was just about to post the last picture of the lads just before they were packed into their travelling box. Here they are in their new winter coats.
They are now on their way to Marilyn (cybercrone) in Toronto. With a bit of luck they should be there by Wednesday or maybe even Tuesday if any mail moves on the weekend.
BTW, I have lots of the cloak material left over. If anyone has the time and wants to make better fitting cloaks, let me know and I'll send it. I wasn't able to fit it into the box.
Good job, Ann! The boys look warm and snuggly.
The capes look 'tres chic' Ann ...
Hope the boys have an uneventful transit to Toronto .. looking forward to those pics ..
~M~
Looking dapper! What trendy, fashion-forward fellas we have. Great job on the winter-wear, Ann. They'll be snuggly and prepared for anything now.
Sandy
Great thread Ann; I enjoyed your photos! I agree with Sandy, very dapper looking capes the fellows have now. LOL. (Bet they wish they were back here; it was +14C today.) :)
Joanne
Joanne - we had similar temps here today. Much colder tomorrow and Sunday, though next week Tuesday and Wednesday promise to be lovely and quite warm.
I think the lads will need a return trip in the spring - hopefully not getting here BEFORE our gardens are up though. By the time the fellas in NFLD get them they'll really have snow.
Ann - If you want to send me the material I'll take a shot at making the coats a little more fitted. Not to say that your cloaks aren't great, because they are. I have lots of material here that I can use as well. It may be costly to send the material.
Maybe I'll wait until the fellas are visiting me and use the material that I have. Whatever you think is a-okay with me.
Hugs Elaine and Otis
beautiful looking cloaks, and what a good idea!!
Now they need skis and tiny ski poles LOL
Only problem with that is - they wouldn't be travelling as lightly, and it would get more expensive - 'twas a silly thought lol
ViolaAnn - my daughter-in-law lives there so, you never know!!
This Friday, my DD & SIL will be visiting Calgary for a few days - shouldn't be on the puter, should be doing more to get the house & their room ready LOL
Guess I'd best get on with it!!
Cya all later :-))
Tallulah_B - I'm not sure WHERE your DIL lives as mentioned 2 posts above? did I miss something?
Elaine - I may send you the remaining fabric. It's stretchy (but the furry bits come off all over the place when you cut it so you'll need a vacuum cleaner handy). But I have no real use for it here. If you don't use it for them maybe you can make a cape for Otis. LOL
I could have made them fit a better given more time, but I've got mitts that aren't ready for the church bazaar and a Viola Society Newsletter (magazine) that got put on hold when I was showing the lads around Ottawa. Should have been to the printer already. Now my objective is to get it to proof readers before we go to Germany on Wednesday.
Ann
This gnome journey has become very entertaining. Thank you to all of you participating. Not just for the lovely picture of where you live, but also for the peek into your vivid imaginations.
I was really disappointed to hear of Erynne's disappearance. If you take a look at the list of Canadian subscribers, we are missing too many old friends that have let their subs lapse. Brugcrazy (Jeanne) has gone awol as well as a few others that used to drop in here.
My DIL lives in Hawsbury (?) I think. Near Ottawa, yes?!
-Susan-
Tallulah - yes, Hawksbury is about an hour away - about half way to Montreal.
Echoes - I tracked Erynne down on Facebook. She said she had intended to renew her DG membership but has been sidetracked by some health challenges for the moment. I think she'll be back once she deals with them.
Ann
Ann- Thanks for the update on Erynne. She is such a great, fun person. I will keep her in my prayers for restored health. These days the list seems to be growing at an alarming rate.
I am working on some ear-muffs for the lads. Thought that they might come in handy when the fellas make their journey to Newfoundland.
I don't know if I can make much improvement in their attire, since you did a great job. I may put some trim on them and who knows what other creative things I may do to spiff up the lads a bit. I have a little scarf already but may make a few more. Just don't want to make anything that is weighty as the cost of shipping goes up with the weight.
Have a great time in Germany! I understand that it is a short trip but do hope that you have the time for a little fun. You deserve it!
Hugs Elaine and Otis
BTW - With all the dog hair and rabbit hair we have in this house, I own several vacuums. It is a necessity but one that I don't mind a bit.
For the continuation of the lads visit in Toronto, check http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/919806/ they arrived there in record speed.
