I love the Mockingbird...I sure wish I could get them to my yard.

Lee, I have only had 1 Pine Siskin that I know of last year. But they are not a bird I can easily ID. We are supposed to have them though.

Nanny, you are so good at identifying sparrows. I'm not. As far as Mockingbirds, they are year round residents here. And, oh, can they sing! Sometimes, even at night and can truly mock. They mock the meowing of our cats. And sometimes sound like a screaky door. Lee

Resin and Pelle have are very patient and helpful in helping me learn the sparrows... and it helped once I got a bird book too!! LOL

Some of you may have seen a picture of Eliza Ducklittle (the wood duck that I an rehabbing) but I just have to post a picture of her here...thanks for indulging me.

I'm finally seeing the White Crowned Sparrows

This Golden Crowned Sparrow ran into my window and after resting a bit was moved to a safe garden area where it later flew away.

I'm pleased to report that the male purple finches showed up today. and a few more females too. I hope they are here in the afternoon when I will have better light.

Lee, I'm excited too. I did not have these last fall or through out the summer. I hope they choose to stay all winter. I'l have to keep those sunflower seeds a flowin!

Mrs_Ed, fortunately, they over-winter here each year and I do so like the little things. Will put out more sunflower seeds when I get back from PT. Lee
P.S. Do you have pine siskins. Some winters we don't.

Lee, I had pine siskens for a few days last November, but not through the winter. We'll see about this year. I have MUCH more food out than I did before.

I had my first Junco sighting this morning! Hopefully pics will follow soon! GM

I have a Mocking Bird this year. He is enjoying my Holly Berries and the Cranberry Viburum berries this yr. BEV

Three little birds were traveling together -- doesn't that sound like the beginning of a fable! These three birds were way up high and kind of looked alike, but I couldn't tell. Snapped a bunch of photos, cropped them until they were blurry and found:

A Blue-headed Vireo

A Black-throated Green Warbler

A Kinglet (I think).

The Blue-headed Vireo chirped to his new friends "I'll chirp and draw the camera while you two sneak a bath behind that crazy lady's back."
