Bingo,any interest?

(Zone 1)

2ndChance: Excuse me? I will gladly bow out if someone else would like to be card holder, no problem here. I do not ever cheat at anything, I've always prided myself on honesty!

I think weasels are kinda cute little critters: http://forbesontech.typepad.com/my_weblog/images/2007/06/03/long_tailed_weasel.jpg so I will take that weasly comment as a compliment! hmm ... I think I've heard that weasel's are mean and they bite! That's not me at all. Well ... I can be mean at times (just ask my DH), but I don't bite. LOL

By the way ... there's a photo of me and my DH on my info page. I haven't changed too much since it was taken last December, just added a few pounds! ^_^

Welcome to the AV/Gessie forum 2ndChance, the gals and guys here are the best!

Jasper, AR(Zone 7a)

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9b)

I'd like to play too if there's still room!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Oh my goodness.............we have so many people we might have to come up with more prizes.............anyone want to give a prize............it can be anything you want in the way of leaves, plants...............or just money for a gift certificate to Walmart, etc.................it makes it so much more fun when there are this many players to come up with some oddball and fun prizes...............

(Zone 1)

Gail, you decided to donate a prize of a Goody Supply Box instead of cash, right? I received a goody supply box as a prize in Bingo a year and a half ago ... it was a great box of all kinds of growing supplies, and I loved it.

About the prizes .... will the donor's just send them to the winning recipient? It's been awhile since I played Bingo but I think at the end of other games we posted a list of winners and the prize they won and who donated the prize.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Yes.............I am very excited about my Goody Supply Box...........already filling it.............just one hint.........have to get some new one sided razor blades........can't live without them.

(Zone 1)

LOL, Gail. I know that is going to be one AMAZING supply box, coming from you! Whoever wins that prize is quite lucky in my book!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Why.........this is the most fun I have had in a long time.........just thinking what might go in it.........I hope people will come up with some more good prizes........

Anyway, Come and join in the fun ... just post your interest here and we will add your name to the list. When Jan gets her AV names list together she will start another thread for the game to begin the first of the month and we will post a link to the new thread here so no one misses it.

Dimmer

Bedford, VA(Zone 7a)

Can I play too, please? I've watched but never had the chance to ask to get in before the game was started.

(Zone 1)

Welcome Dimmer & dragonfly53! It's going to be a fun game!

Jan: I agree, we have 5 great prizes for this game, sometimes we only have 3 for a game. So, maybe if anyone else is thinking of donating a prize of plant (s), cuttings, leaves, gift certificate or cash, whatever .... they can wait for the December game.

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

LOL.Kim. glad your joining us for bingo.Hope your feeling better.

Terri sure you can play with us.Hope you have a good time.

I hope brenda and nancy pops in to play.

(Zone 1)

Yes, has anyone heard from Brenda or Nancy? Brenda stays busy all the time and I know Gail said that Nancy broke her foot so I know she will be laid up for awhile bless her heart! I've never had a broken bone in my life (knocking on wood here!) and I would probably be a terrible patient if I did!

Hopefully they will both be able to join in on the game!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I would think that it takes all the energy she has just trying to take care of her plants as she has as many as the rest of us.

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Good morning,
I’d love a chance to play BINGO if you still have room for more players. I am a newbie to this forum and have only been on DG since June. I have around 15 AV’s that are between 1 and 8 years old. All are NOID’s from local big box stores. They are all so sweet and give me flowers for about 8 months out of the year.

Donna

(Zone 1)

Hi Donna ... Welcome! You aren't too late to join in, the game won't be starting until next week!

Welcome to DG and to the AV forum! You will love it here!

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Thank you,
It sounds like a lot of fun.

Land of OZ, CT(Zone 6a)

Yaay! I can't wait! This is going to be fun :-)

Bingo is always so much fun! We have fun chatting and sometimes the hostess will post a photo of each call made. I wonder if Jannich is planning on doing that? Usually if someone is growing the plant name that is called, they post pictures for us too! Of course the photo's end up making all of our "wish" lists that much longer! I know it seems with every plant pictured I am wanting it and my list gets to be 10' long! ^_^

It gets real exciting towards the end of the game when a lot of folks just need one or two more to be able to yell Bingo! ^_^

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

whoo whoo, 2 more players and both from my home states. How about that, makes me homesick.LOL.

Hi Lin,I'm going to post links with calls.I can't get my first class program to work. for the pictures.

SW, WI(Zone 4b)

I just read back through the thread and noticed you say the players should choose whether you make the calls day or night.

I remember this dilemma during Bingo on the Houseplants forum.....some are never on during the day...some are never on during the evenings:(
(personally I'm never on the computer at night (Ü)

I think you should make the calls just 'whenever' is convenient for *you*!
Either way....likely 1/2 of the people playing will have to check the computer when they normally wouldn't.

Whitsett, NC(Zone 8a)

You could make it like a scavenger hunt, and post the call in different forums . . .

It doesn't matter to me what time of day the calls are made.

Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

I'm gonna try to join this game. When I say try, I mean I'm not on the computer every day. That may change once I start playing Bingo. LOL
So count me in for this month.

(Zone 1)

They tried posting the calls in a different forum once last year and someone complained so Admin. made the hostess not do it anymore! They want us to stay within the AV forum. Apparently it caused some havoc on whatever other forum it was ... people wanting to know what she was talking about!

Alright Imadigger! Yes, please come and play with us! It is really great fun. I don't think someone has to be on EVERY day, you just need to make sure when you are able to log on to go through the thread carefully so you don't miss one on your card that may have been called. There is chat going on the same thread as the calls so it's easy to miss one. When it gets really important to check regularly is right at the end of the game when folks just have one or two left before getting Bingo!

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Jan.......did RainGazer ever send you back your first class? That is important..........if she forgot or got busy, tell me and I will call her. YOu need it.......but I don't know how to post the picture either. I think you have to first put it in your pictures and then take it from your own pictures to post here. I need to learn how to do it.

(Zone 1)

Woo Hoo ... we're up to 20 players!

We're missing some regulars but I know a lot of folks have busy lives with kids, jobs, husbands etc. Those I can think of right off the top of my head who I haven't seen around the AV forum are: RainGazer. Bmedel, Makshi and Cedarnest (who we know has a broken foot but maybe would be able to sit and play the game?) and where's Critterologist? I know she stays busy with writing her great articles nowadays.

Has anyone heard from JanetS lately? She used to be on the AV forum last year and played Bingo too. There may be quite a few more who just spend time on the regional forums, I don't know.

Anyway, it looks like it's going to be a great game!

(Zone 1)

If no one has first class to post pictures we can always try to google and find a pic to post. And, of course if anyone has the particular AV, I hope they will post a picture of it.

Andalusia, AL(Zone 8b)

Ok folks the Bingo picks are posted here.

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/917878/

Gail I did get the first class back. For some reason I can't get it to work on the computer.I'll will post links to all the pictures.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

I will try, jannich, to figure out (I have the instructions from the computer tech) how to put them in my pictures before the game starts............I will let you know.......if I am successful. I will print out your names right now.

Grand Forks, BC(Zone 5b)

Critterologist has been posting pretty regularly on the Pet forum. She has been busy lately with a very sick kitty. Without question, it is taking up a lot of her time.

Phoenix, AZ(Zone 9b)

How many do we pick? I think I want them all

(Zone 1)

Oh, sorry to hear about Critter's kitty. I know too well how that goes. We just had to have one old (20 something) gal euthanized yesterday afternoon and buried her in the backyard. We have another one 14 years old that has not been doing well, is on medication daily and vet bills this year have been something else. They are like our kids and it's so hard when one gets sick and really difficult when we have to say goodbye. I think I will d-mail Critter to say hello.

allgr8dogs: Just look down the list http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/917878/ and choose 15 for your card. I know when I first started playing Bingo I would google and look at photo's of every single one before I chose my picks! LOL ... time consuming! Now, I just go by if I like the sound of the name! ^_^

Frederick, MD(Zone 7a)

Good morning, Lin. So sorry about your sweet friend of 20 years that you said goodbye to yesterday. I know how our pets are members of the family and their loss is felt so deeply.

Please sign me up for bingo and I'll get my picks to you asap. With Jan and you at the helm, this will be a great game and lots of fun for sure. I'd like to donate 10.00 for a 'Biggest Loser' prize.

(Zone 1)

Welcome GoldLeaf! And, thank you for those kind words. We inherited my dear MIL's two cats when she moved into assisted living twelve years ago. One of her cats died a few years ago and we think the one we had to take to the vet yesterday, "Bonnie" was in her mid 20's. My MIL passed away five years ago at the age of 97, and she couldn't remember how old her cats were. We just had to try and think about when she got them as kittens. I haven't worked in sixteen years and she had the cats the last five and a half years that I was working, and I know she had them a couple of years prior to that also. The vet's consider cats elderly at the age of 7 nowadays! It is sad when you lose a pet and so hard to make the decision that it's time to put them down. But, I am one who totally believes in humanely euthanizing an animal, it's just sometimes hard to know when it's the right time. You want to hang on to them but you don't want them to suffer.

Well, on to Bingo ... see y'all on the new thread! : http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/917878/

Ottawa, IL(Zone 9a)

so sad to hear of your pet, this is the one thing i hate about haveing pets,i have had to put a few down & it just kills me. my thoughts are with you.
bonnie

(Zone 1)

Thanks Bonnie. The sweet little one we just had to put down was named Bonnie! She was afraid of everyone but me and would run and hide from everyone else. My DH had thought it was time to have her euthanized a year ago but the vet said she was still doing okay back then. She was to the point now though, that we felt it was time, we didn't want her to suffer. We too have lost quite a few pets over the years. My Mom used to call our backyard a pet cemetery. We have ten or eleven dogs, cats and birds that we've buried out there in the almost 34 years we've been in this house.
