Another Apricot Candy with buggy leaves. I would like to harvest some seedpods so
I'll have to spray. Last thing I really want to do since I'm still trying to fit everything back in the
GH.

Thanks for the new thread jackie, that last one went fast!! Love the Apricot candy. Mine rotted last year, maybe I will give it ago for the winter...

Nice set-up Jackie! Love your little Apricot Candy! I have seeds and that would be a good winter vine to grow because it is compact.

How come some leaves are shaped like arrowheads and some like hearts??

Netcong, NJ(Zone 5b)

joeswife - You asked:

"How come some leaves are shaped like arrowheads and some like hearts??"

I'll answer your questions if you can tell me why is snow white (?) and why is water wet (?)...

I've always wondered about those type of things things...

TTY,...

Ron

P.S. - You sound like me about 4.5 decades ago...but there be method to the seeming 'madness'...

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Thanks Ronnie and Becky. Mine almost rotted too Ronnie, too much rain.
This would be a colorful small glory to brighten up winter days.
I'd say you two should go for it.

I think the arrowhead shaped leaves are a different plant altogether, isn't it some sort of cool aroid?

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

if she is asking why two different leaves on the morning glorys all together its because of different types of glories. i have only seen the leaves like above on the cypress vine and cardinal vine types. all the rest have heart shape leaves at first. but also have seen heart shape leaves turn in to the true leaves later as the plant matures. different types of glories.

there are some glories that the leaves dont even resemble morning glory leaves. like beach glory leaves.different species under same names. glad they different though makes life interesting.

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

all my MG have the heart-shaped leaves.

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

I think pretty much all I. purpureas have the heart-shaped leaves. Some I. nils do too, but not as common. Do tri-color cultivars sometimes have heart-shaped leaves?

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Joseph, Alocasia Polly I think. She's an easy aroid to grow. The only problem
being the spider mites love her in the winter.

(Debra) Derby, KS(Zone 6a)

The red morning glory (supposedly Scarlet O Hara) is the only one I have with the fiddle shaped leaves.. well, maybe not fiddle, maybe a spade? lol this pic is hard to see, but the leaves down on the bottom are what I am talking about...
the neighbors have a blue glory that has nothing but these kinds of leaves...

I brought the Ipomoea parasitica container indoors this past weekend. It's nice the seed pods are starting to ripen up. This one has a HUGE seed pod.

these are my very first blooms of Xiong's (Thank you Joseph =D). This is my first year of growing mg =D. They don't seem to have the wider picoteed white edges. The colour in real-life looks similar to this hue, but there is a bit of a more purplish coloration in some areas.

last picture...same blooms/flowers as the above, different lighting. Here you can see a wee bit of the purplish splashes. All these photos were taken on the first day of bloom.

The picotee width often will change as the plant ages.

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

I love the reddish pink color of your bloom Eliz.

Joseph, that's a whopper!!!

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Fistulosa was in bloom this morning. A welcome sight since the pickins
are getting slim. lol

Such a vivid pink colored flower, Jackie, good growing!

Oh that is pretty Jackie!!

(Becky) in Sebastian, FL(Zone 10a)

A lot going on here lately, so haven't had much time to check the garden in the mornings to take photos of the blooms. I need to make the effort to at least hand-pollinate the MG blooms.

I did walk outside tonight when I let my dog out and caught sight of some Moonflowers blooming! So amazingly beautiful! And nice fragrance, too! These blooms seem huge to me!

They are big! I think my seed packet said "Giant White Moonflower". The lavender moon vine are not very big.
