Newbie Question - Why gardens.com - and - davesgarden.com?

Beaverton, OR

What is the link between gardens.com and davesgarden.com?

They both have forums, although most of them are on davesgarden.com

A little confusing for someone new trying to sort it all out.

There is a list of forums here for gardens.com:
http://www.gardens.com/forums/

However, those forums seem to be a bit hidden - I only found them through an internet search. If you go to gardens.com home page, then click on the "forum" link - it takes you to davesgardens.com forums.

We produce both sites. Gardens.com is designed to be a little easier for new gardeners to navigate. DG has been around longer, and has more features aimed at more experience users and gardeners.

Dublin, CA(Zone 9a)

And the forums that are on the gardens.com link that you posted are also here on DG, just the display format is a little different. So no matter which way you go to those particular forums you'll see the same posts.

OK. I was unable to start a new post or do a "preview" if I tried to do it directly from the gardens.com forums (when you try to post, you just get a blank page). Sent a help ticket before I figured out there were parallel forums that do work.

But in adding to the confusion to someone new, the same two forums on both sites have different names:

At gardens.com there is a forum called "What's This Plant" http://www.gardens.com/forums/f/plantid/all/

which is the same as:

"Plant and Tree Identification" Forum
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/f/plantid/all/

Anyways, I'm sorting it all out now.

thanks

Gardens.com is a site set up for easier access and newer gardeners. All of the forums are open. Many of the forums on DG are closed. Subscribers only have access to post or read past the first post. Worth it?? I think so and it's the only thing I subscribe to.
