Fall Banners at top of page

(Zone 1)

Was I seeing things or was there a real pretty banner earlier today that showed a scene with the sun shining through the trees ... a very beautiful, peaceful, pastoral scene ... now it's back to the pumpkins? Nothing against the pumpkins but that earlier scene was really, really nice! But, maybe it was only in my mind ... I've been dreaming of some nice autumn scenery which we don't get much of here where I live!

I put the forest scene back up. I'll change to the pumpkins in a couple weeks.

Thanks Dave! I Love that scene!

No pumpkins in Texas? I would think you would have wonderfully huge ones down there.

We are having the typical 'frost on the pumpkin' mornings here, and I love the fall decorations when I drive through town. Fall is my favorite time of year.

I love autumn, but for me to be able to experience the cooler temp's and beautiful fall colors I have to go on vacation somewhere north. Unfortunately, we don't have any frost on the pumpkin type mornings here, we are still having the high humidity in the mornings, afternoons and evenings! Now, don't get me wrong ... I sure don't want the snow and ice some of you see in winter but a little chill in the mornings would be wonderful!

Plenty of pumpkins here. :)

Very cool!

Yummy! Do we have a PlantFile entry for Cucurbita 'Dave'? ;)

I hear ya about the snow and Ice. According to the weather, we may start experiencing some of that tonight. Ugg. It's a bad deal too, because the trees still have leaves and any added weight of the snow will cause severe damage to the tree itself.

Edited to change sever into severe. Although in this case, sever may be a better word. :(

Here was a sampling from last year's squash, gourd and pumpkin harvest. It was a good year. :)

Oh my goodness ... now that's what I would call a harvest! And, that's just a sampling? Did you take them to a market or what? Great Growing!

I always wanted to live in the country with lots of land where I could have big gardens! Unfortunately I've been a city gal all my life, but at least I can still grow landscape plants and hundreds of house plants and a few tomato plants here and there! When my husband retires in the next six or seven years we are either going to be traveling the waterways on a boat for awhile or a large motor home on the roadways ... either way, he knows I will have to have a couple of plants on board!

We are about half of those squashes and gave the other half to neighbors and friends. :)

Pumpkins and squash everywhere....and not one of a nice GOURD! LOL Jo

Jo, actually, there's lots of gourds. The first three shelves behind me are mostly gourds. Also, the squash that I carved my name is a gourd.

(Zone 1)

I thought I was seeing gourds on the shelves but I didn't want to say anything since I'm a city gal and don't know diddly about gourds, except that they make nice birdhouses! ^_^

Plenty here too but not enough rain to get them as big as usual.

I bet Jo was looking for hard-shelled gourds ;o) Nice shots, all!

You mean there is somethine OTHER than hard shells? Hmmm...maybe that's why I don't eat Squash! LOL Jo

Alright, time to fess up. When that picture was taken, our small mixed gourds were harvested BUT the big gourds were still in the field. They took another two months before they were finally ready but we got a whole giant pile of them.
