Ruby-throated Hummingbirds Vol. 16

You have finches?!!! Do you put finch feeders out in the winter? Should I do that now? I thought it was too early.

I never ever have seen a different bird at my hummingbird feeders.

I have orioles at mine. Yep, and hummers at the oriole feeder! I've had red bellied wood peckers too. I don't know what they were there for, but they were at theHB feeders for about a week this spring.
Right now they are full of bees. :-(

Oh man I am definitely keeping up my hummer feeders then. Purple Finches!!! Send them to Clear Lake please!

I never see any finches other than House finches till the last week in December. The White Pelicans came through yesterday and I missed them. It has now been twelve days since I have seen a hummer. Have any of you ever gone through the stopping smoking thing? Or having your internet connection out? Or giving up chocolate? That is how it feels with the hummers gone. There is not much of anything flying around right now. I guess all the migrating birds have already gone through except for the ducks and the birds that don't get here till late. I went to the swamp but nothing much was there. It has been pretty boring here lately.

Good analogy Frank. Even though we don't have hummers, I can relate to all of those losses you've named.
