don't have many good shots of him... he comes too late in the evening when the light isn't good

Those are wonderful shots onewish! I love the fact that she comes when called!

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

it amazes me how close she gets now... some days she runs towards me when she knows I have food

she eats... then just walks off back into the woods

Great start to the new thread everyone. I love Gertie!

I stopped by the local lake today and saw a couple of cormorants.

Here's a blue jay that was hopping around the juniper looking for food.

This is a picture from a long time ago, but I can't remember what it turned out to be. Anyone know? Then I can rename the picture to aid my terrible memory :)

Nice shots everyone! I just love the cormorants!

We had LOADS of Robins here about an hour ago. I couldn't believe it they were flying all over the place chasing each other etc.

Has anyone else noticed lots of Robins around?

This thread is filling up at a record pace. Great photos too. One of these days my winter birds will arrive......I hope!

central, NJ(Zone 6b)

Pelletory, they must all be down your way, I haven't seen mine lately. We had tons all summer long.

Excellent photos, everyone.

Here's a photo of the 'Northern Flicker'. I have been hearing them but not seeing them, yet ! This photo was taken in March right off of my front porch.

Gorgeous pic! I'd love to see one of these.

Thanks, gardenpom.

burn's opening photo of the 'American Kestrel' reminded me of this photo taken in March at a wildlife exhibit. I've taken some decent photos of them in the wild but you can't get this close. They are a beautiful bird !

One more of the 'Kestrel' .....

American Kestrel is right up there on my "most want to see" list. You are so right Linth ...they are just beautiful.

Pelle, we have had lots of robins around the last week...but today I only saw a few up in the trees tops. None on the ground.

I had 3 Pewees fly up on my front porch yesterday...don't know what they were doing!!

I haven't seen any Snowy Egrets yet this Fall but the 'Great Egrets' are passing through .......

Here is a group of nine Great Egrets.

Beautiful shots Linth! Love the Kestrel!

I only see them at Bird Shows,if fact I held one there and had my pic taken. I'll be going to one soon in Cape May.

Anchorage, AK(Zone 4a)

Beautiful pictures Linth! Fantastic detail, particularly in the first shot.

This is a mixed flock, both Trumpeter and Tundra Swans. Can you spot the two Tundra Swans?
Hint, they have a yellow spot at the base of the bill, in front of the eye.

Every morning, in this pine tree behind my house, this osprey's screams herald the new day. This morning I was able to get a nice photograph of him or her.

Chipping Sparrow in the front flower bed monday morning. We have had large groups of them passing through right now.

Monday was a very busy and odd day in the yard. Northern Flicker out in the backyard!

Thumbnail by nanny_56

Just how odd this, though you can't tell this is a flycatcher...I think a pewee, sitting on the front shepard hook the hummers sit on. One of 3 that came up to the front porch. One landed on the porch light right next to the door!

Wow, Nanny, you are really getting a great variety of birds. I love that Northern Flicker!
Bsharf, very cool osprey!
Linth, great pics!

This is not a great picture but I am so excited to see him. I think this is a new bird for me, a Brown Thrasher, I believe. I think I once had a Hermit Thrush which looked similar but I don't think I've had this one visit before.
