Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

OH< MY... That would be just wonderful... dmail me the amount, and I'll get it in the mail...
THANK YOU so much.

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

I think a flat rate box is around $9.00. Call your local P.O. to be sure. I prefer postage in stamps rather than moeny as I am rural. I already have boxes on hand but would have to drive all the way in town to purchase stamps.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I'll get some stamps in the mail to you tomorrow... Thank you so much.

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

Welcome...they're like weeds around here. I just noticed the one I have growing on an arbor is loaded with seeds, meaning I'll be pulling tons of seedlings out of the flowerbeds next year.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

REALLY? WOW... I'd be beside myself if I had them come up like that.

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

oh man so would i as i am looking for a few more myself. wow to have them i bet they are pretty.grow like that

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

I have some also. But mine must really has never blossomed. Not that I don't want them too. I think they are georgeous. Now to root them do you just stick them in water??? Cause I would be glad to send some of them out also. They grow like wildfire in my yard. Ronna

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Sounds like bigred's has come up by seeds, since she's got all those seedlings.
I don't have a clue how to root them... but I would think some rooting hormone and potting soil for cuttings... but, don't listen to me, I'm no authority.

Plainwell, MI(Zone 5b)

thanks bj....

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

They root very easily..I put them in soil, not water...they would root in the water, but making the move from water to soil, is hard on them.
I have lots of seeds too..so there will be tons of seedlings next year.

Lawrenceville, GA(Zone 7b)

I'd like to try some sweet autumn clematis, if anyone wants to send one my way, I'd be happy to send postage costs. :)

Marquette, MI(Zone 5a)

Just butting in, but if you lay a length of the clematis vine on the ground and put a rock on it, it will develop roots. Then you can pot it up.

Independence, LA(Zone 8b)

I've got more than enough sweet autumn to share if anyone wants it (anybody want several boxes of it?). I'll send for postage or trade for it. Send me a dmail.

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

pieohmy,
you sound like me..I have it every where!

Independence, LA(Zone 8b)

Yep, once you have it in your yard, you have plenty. I don't mind it though the leaves are so pretty even when it is not blooming.

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

I have a love/hate relationship with SAC..it is pretty and the fragrance is nice..but it wants to strangle my roses! Not all of them...but wait! all of them, may be the plan....

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

Sweet Autumn is a very nice plant but you have to be careful where you plant it since it is a very vigorus growing vine and can't be used to grow w/ shrub roses or other shrubs. The one I have on the cattle panel arbor came up on it's own from seed so I allowed it to stay to grow with the climbing rose Golden Showers and I hope it doesn't strangle the rose.

Rose Lodge, OR(Zone 8b)

Mine is planted under a huge maple that is tough to plant around. Sometime this summer it hooked up with the frilly pink morning glory growing up my lamppost & they both climbed way up into the tree -- they looked really good together.

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

i had one and the thing seeded but never got another one anywhere in yard. guess mine were sterile?

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

I didn't think that was possible?~!

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

nope no babies anywhere and no momma plant this year

im jealous melva beautiful and the roses too

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

Thanks, I am having to rip the Clematis that's on that rose...it is attempting to strangle it...I have taken it all down, once this year...

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

bigred, I just planted some little SAC next to my Golden Shower climber on my arbor. Golden Shower has been disappointing for me as the flower doesn't hold very long and the color is just OK. I would love to dig out my Golden Shower but I think it's too big!

You'll have to keep me posted on how yours doing next to the rose. I have New Dawn on the other side of my arbor.

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

LiliMerci,
Golden Showers is an Ok rose but nothing to shout about. That's the reason I let the Sweet Autumn self sewn seedling go ahead and grow w/ it.

I've always wanted a climbing New Dawn. I just planted a yellow Lady Banks w/a purple clematis on another arbor. That ought to be a wild color combo.

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

bj,
here's the plant that's going in today's mail. I'll probably have to reduce the foliage down to get it in the box. That won't hurt it and will allow the plant to root in better w/o having to support all that foliage.

OMG... that's more than I expected... I was thinking "little" seedlings. COOL I have my spot all ready for it.

Someday, I'll have a Lady Banks Rose too... but I don't have place to put it yet...

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

Peggy, I am hoping to trim my New Dawn today. Do you want cuttings?

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

b,
I'm always digging these buggers up and potting them up for Farmers Market and I always have too many. They grow pretty fast once it warms up in late spring so They sholud bounce right back next year.

This is a seedling I allowed to grow up the cattle panel arbor this year. This is just this seasons growth.

Lili,
I just looked New Dawn up on the plant files... and that is one gorgeous rose. I'd love to have some cuttings of that.
Is it VERY fragrant? Does it climb on it's own, or do you have to train it?

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Good, I need things that grow fast... DH is getting impatient with what I've got that isn't taking over the way I told him it would.

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

It is fragrant and puts out tons of blooms in the spring. If you are really good about deadheading, you'll get more blooms in the summer. I'm getting another spurts right now, but not like the spring.

I have to warn you, it is a "house-eater" and you need a strong support system for it. It's slow the first year or two, but by the 3rd year you should have lots of blooms. Mine is about 5 year old and it puts out thousands of buds in the spring and I'm not exaggerating.

Ladybanks is beautiful but if I remember correctly, it doesn't have any fragrance to it. Little tiny creamy-yellow flowers, right?

OK. I'm going to cut it now. If you are not in the address exchange, dmail me your address. I will send tracking number when your package go out. You can just pay me for postage. Do you want that priority or first class mail?

Ashdown, AR(Zone 8a)

LIli,
thanks for the offer but I've never been able to propagate roses from cuttings.

P

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Priority please... I'm in the address exchange... do you have paypal? Dmail me with payment instructions.

Yes, Lady Banks is creamy yellow clusters of blooms... no fragrance... but it's a true climber, and doesn't require training... and it's beautiful... we're planning to build a pergola over a deck, and I will need a true climber to grow over it... but I could change my mind several times before we get that built.

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

Brenda, New Dawn is a true climber but I do have to tie some of the stems down to the arbor otherwise it will go in all different direction.

Next year, I will work on my pergola. It's in part shade and it's attached to the house, so I'm trying to decide what I can plant on there that I can control. Currently, I have a few containers with runner beans. They are pretty when they're blooming, but they seem to attract some bugs that burried itself in the leaves and cause the leaves to curl up. I don't think I'm going to plant this one next year. May be a cypress vine. The hummingbirds love them!

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

Good, I can deal with some stems going in different directions. I'm excited to get them now.
I just showed DH the pictures on the plant files, and he ran right out in the shop to find what he needs to build trellises for them... Good Sturdy ones...
I told him it might be a couple years before they're that big... but, he's got all this spare lumber, and well... you know how it is... let him go for it.

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

Wow! You're lucky. I waited for years for my husband to build me one, finally I had to have someone do it. But's a cedar arbor and it's heavy and will last for years. Here is a picture of ND in April this year.

Kemp, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm sure mine won't be THAT nice... but it will be sturdy, if I know my DH... He's got some scrap treated wood left from building the deck...

North of Atlanta, GA(Zone 8a)

I didn't plan on it being that big, but our back yard has a natural drain for the neighborhood, so all the rain water drain down toward our back yard. My DH wanted to make it big enough so that if he needed to back his truck into the back yard to dump rock our haul tree branches, etc, he can. So it ended up being big like that.

Yesterday, I was at Home Depot and saw that they had a nice uninstalled cedar arbor for a little over $1,500.

OK. I am sending you dmail with shipping information.
