The Fall Dave's Garden one. I have asked Melody to check and see when it is. She was going to check with Dave and get back.
Daily Pics Volume 138
Marilynbeth glad the Red Breasted Grosbeak stayed around for a while, I always keep the BOSS year round, The chickadees and Purple finches, PineSisken and the Goldfinches all love them. I'm anxiously waiting on the Pine Grosbeak and the Evening Grosbeak too, this year. Last year was the first time the Evening Grosbeak came to the feeders. It will be fun to see them again, this winter. :) Had a Blue Jay come an investigate the feeders a few days ago. Didn't have time to get my camera, hopefully he will come again, with friends. Those 3 type of birds would really color up my yard this winter.
Congrat on your Swainson's Thrush Nanny.
Would love to see the titmouse here. GM
Last night, I had this Goldfinch crawl into the coconut feeder. He stay in there for some time.Wasn't to sure if he was ok.
nanny_56, you are so lucky to have seen the redstart. i'm jealous as i've never seen one.lol. you are becoming a pro. lee
you'll do it. you're eager and enthusiastic. i haven't done logging in a few years but i enjoyed it. i find the wrens and sparrows the hardest to i.d. i saw something the other day that surprised me: a male cardinal feeding a juvie at the sunflower feeder. it was a juvie because it's bill was still black. have you witnessed this? lee
can't spot juvie. where is it? it's playing hide and seek . lee
At that rate Nanny you'll hit a 100 in no time. Especially now with the migrating birds. Cute Redstart.
Lee, If you look between the arching branches there, go along the bottom one to the right...and you can just barely see it's head and top of it's crest!
The above bird tried so hard to hide from me at first!! lol
Burn, I have several on my list I really hope to spot!
Well, time to go take my last pill for the day and call it a nght.
See ya all tomorrow!
yes, isee it now. was like 'where's waldo', nanny, do you have pine siskins overwintering there. we do but had fewer last year. they love the thistle . have you any tips on telling the differences of the wrens and sparrows. now, i can immediately tell a white-throated sporrow but the others, i'm hopeless. lee
We do have the Pine Siskin here during the winter. I only spotted one that I know of llast year. But since they resemble house finch, there may have been more & I just didn't catch it. I just really started late last fall trying to ID all birds.
I think the basic size & shape of the bird, type of beak and the tail are the easiest way to differentiate between wrens & sparrows. It may sound strange, but here where I live, I find them in different areas of where I walk. Maybe someone else could weigh in on that question a little better than me!
Gold Finch...I think..getting so the warblers and finch look alike to me. I saw sooooo many Tennessee Warblers yesterday!

I don't think that's a Goldfinch with that eyestripe.
Well seeing that Nanny appears to be living in a "Warbler Alley," perhaps it's on of those lovelies.
Honestly, I dont' know how you are all getting pictures. I only have house sparrows and cardinals at the feeders right now, and when going on walks, there are too many leaves for me to even see birds.
I lost internet service the day after the storm and then I lost phone service the next day-- weird. I got to go through two new threads though. Y'all have taken some really fabulous photos! It was a nice treat.
I've been too busy and too tired to take pictures. I did take a few of this one that I think is a flycatcher. It's in the uprooted Cedar that has since been cut down. NY tree company charged twice as much as I usually pay and did a lousy job, but I'm trying not to be bitter! At least they came down here and got the job done.
nanny_56, fortunate you have warblers. such sweet birds. i should take mt birding book to the hosp. tomorrow for the surgery and read up on the differences of wrens and sparrows. will be layed up a while, so why not study up. now, when i get back home, i'm going to expect you to tell me all that has trasnpired, esp., with the red-breasted grosbeaks.
you know, i never thought that pine siskins looked similar to house finches but at first glance, they do. you are indeed becoming the pro! lee
p.s. enjoy the migratory period. you'll have a wonderful treat

Looks like another Tennessee Warbler ;-)

Great Crested Flycatcher. That's a juniper or a cypress, not a cedar ;-)
Resin
Dave has fixed this now!

Sunday was a relatively warm day and the Bald Eagles were somewhat lazy. The morning was extremely foggy. I thought surely when the sun broke through, they would be hungry, but that was not the case. Here is a photo of an immature that flew by, with proper lighting. Often one is faced with a good opportunity but sometimes you're forced to shoot toward the sun.
Great pic Linth!
Lucky warbler lady nanny!
We now crown ye "Nanny, Queen of the Warbler"
Rose will be so jealous.
Beautiful eagle shot Linth.
LOL, Mrs. Ed! I once worked with a beauty queen who'd won many titles. My favorite one of hers was Queen of the West, but I now think Queen of the Warbler is way better!
Resin, thanks for the tree ID. My neighbor called it a cedar, so I went with that! It had beautiful red wood, very fragrant. I kept a few stumps and then a man from down the street who does wood work collected the rest.
Super cropped chickadee.
ah, you got the light in it's eye, congrats! they are so difficult to photograph
Great job on the Blue Jay/flower shot Marna!!
