Good morning Private Jordan, and thank you!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

a big congradulations to you commander

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Shuttle crew is very excited because this is the first hatch of a bantam. Previous hatches all barnyard mix standards. Crew is celebrating with Greek yogurt drizzled with honey.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

did nilla get mashed yellow matter yet?

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Nilla doesn't eat or drink for the first day cuz she's still surviving on yolk absorbtion...right? I put out the tray of chick crumbles. I have never fed mashed yellow matter to chicks. But I can....should I?

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

major tf told me to do that. also sugar water

(Zone 7b)

Lieutenant Harmony on Board Ma'aM Acknowledge said life form "NILLA" (IT"S SO CUTE) AHUM! Will add said Nilla to crew roster "SALUTEING SAID NILLA" WELCOME ABOARD Will be at my post waiting further instructions Lieutenant is bowing to Commamders ablity to hatch such cute chicks!
over and out: Lieutenant Harmony on Guard!!

(Zone 7b)

Chicks don't require any type food or water when hatched and can be left in the incu for up to 24 hours. Yes claire they absorb thier egg sack and it feeds them keeps them hydrated. This is because normaly chicks hatch under a hen and they all hatch at different times and the first that hatch have to wait on the others so it has its yolk sac to hold it over. My hens typically stay on the nest 2 days at the most.
Sugar water is for energy and does'nt have to be used unless they are stressed(shipping) or weak from a difficult hatch. I personaly only use it for shipped chicks.

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

well, nows a great time to tell me. but little cookie seems to be doing fine

(Zone 7b)

Hey i'm new here and i'm workin on it Doing TEA UPS!!

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Commander Moxon here, pleased to see the ground crew is doing morning calisthenics including tea-ups and yolk mashing. Good to keep in shape for future hatches. Jelly donuts for everyone! Oh, wait, that sort of defeats the point...well....half a jelly donut then.

Sergeant Williams - how many life forms do you have now? Glad to hear your hatch is excellent despite grogginess. Strongly recommend chick shuttle for next hatch, in which case you can be Commander Williams.

Local outpost has telephoned to advise hatching eggs awaiting pickup - 2 boxes. Interplanetary UPS supposed to deliver Brinsea 40 today. Will make detour to pick up eggs and then await Brinsea which should be here after crew has completed day job.

Moxon over and out, on the way to get eggs.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Oh, another thing Sergeant Williams. PICTURES? Hello???? We're not THAT patient... ;-)

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Commander Moxon reporting successful docking at outpost to pick up packages.

Received 18 Delaware Blue life form encapsulation modules.

Also received 18 bantam buttercup life form encapsulation modules.

Will put into bator tonight, which had better be here when I get home!

DB life form seller advised during bidding that her hatch rate is 50% because only one roo for too many hens. This is OK, if I have 9, I am more than happy! 5 would suit me just fine!

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

good luck commander

Lodi, United States

Welcome life form Nilla! And congratulations Commander--you held steady during galactic storm and brought your payload through.

Concern registered regarding Private(?) jordankittyjo's early attempt to turn new life form into a hick. Suggest instead early acculturation into the arts and sciences.

(Zone 7b)

A hick?

Lodi, United States

In her own word, in the Official Log: "she is getting hick starter and water with acv too"

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

private jordan meant chick starter. so sorry mame

(Zone 7b)

Lieutenant Harmony Recognizes that as miss type and Jordan Chick Will be Schooled in Our Highly Intelligent Eviromental nursery and will recieve education in all fields.
Our team of experts are of the best unless intoxicated with one or more obsessions of Chocolate,Incubateing and covetness of others chicks.
Lieutenant Harmony out "SALUTE"

Bessemer, AL(Zone 8b)

private jordan intoxicated with all of the above

(Zone 7b)

Commander Moxon How goes on the hatching front? Do you need asistance Commander?
Lieutenant Harmony "SALUTE"

Clarkson, KY

South Central Base Command Center, Private Grownut Back online, Ma'am. Sincere congratulations on Nilla the Millie Or is it Van the Mille?

Clarksburg, MO

Sergeant Williams at Panther Creek Outpost chicking in with sincere apologies to the Commander. I now acknowledge new life form Nilla and give "her" and the commander a commendation for eggcellent chick hatching mission.

Over

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

New life form Nilla and I appreciate all the support - thanks to all of you for being a fabulous ground crew.

Private Grownut - humor attempt well taken, shuttle crew laughing out loud. Nilla the Millie even squeaked.

Commander Moxon has gone to work outpost to earn money for chick feed. (note: not hick feed) Upon leaving primary shuttle bay, situation was as follows:
1 Silkie egg pipped and peeping
1 EE egg pipped (in wrong place) with beak visible but showing movement of chick.
2 EE eggs not yet pipped, hopeful they are still viable.
1 OEG egg with large air cell, possible movement noted, not pipped.

So a possible total of 5 more hatches in the next day or so. Shuttle crew are ready and waiting to transfer any hatchees to brooder after dry-out period. Nilla would like some friends. She is looking forward to attending Highly Intelligent Environmental Nursery School. Thank you Lieutenant Harmony for the clarification regarding education. Nilla also has classical music playing in the background to keep her little mind active, or to help lull her to sleep in her down time.

Commander Moxon will provide a full updated shuttle report approximately 5:00 pm Central Standard Time. And possibly interject with other silly comments in the interim.

Moxon over.

Lodi, United States

Commander Moxon: NPCG did not mean to suggest hicks should not be fed. That would be cruel and elitist.

Advise: If module supplier claims 50%--post shipping rates may be closer to 25%.

Looking forward to enlightening updates.

Catscan over.

(Zone 7b)

SPGC Lieutenant Harmony still at post "SALUTE"

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Lt. Harmony - excellent to see your dedication to these matters and that you are able to remain on post so frequently. Truly commendable. How is your own flock doing these days?

Major Catscan - we don't have any hicks in Iowa. (giggle....) Nor are we cruel or elitist. So 25% of 18 eggs is 4 or 5, which would be OK. Especially if I got 1 roo and 1 hen among them.

Commander Moxon is itching to get out of this operational module and go back to the main shuttle bay to check on life forms. Grumble...

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Commander Moxon has decided this thread is too long and is continuing it here:
