Bird Watching: Daily Pics - Volume 136

Linthicum Heights, MD(Zone 7a)

Nice photo, Margaret. And, I forget to comment on some of your exceptional photos on the previous thread.

As to the plural of Tufted Titmouse, I would think it is Tufted Titmice !!!

Thanks Kim and Pelle. Pelle, isn't it frustrating that an injury can stop you doing things you want to do? I went out to take shots of the Ospreys yesterday and ended up having Xrays instead. The injury is almost 3 weeks old. Teach me not to watch my footing.

Thanks linth. Your post came in whilst I was preparing mine and it wouldn't let me open it. If I could ever take shots of Ospreys like you, I'd be very happy.

Edited for spelling

I didn't know which was correct, so I pick up my dictionary and looked it up. The dictionary agrees with the above: "pl. -mice"

jenilopaz, your listed URL doesn't work. When I do go to the drivenwide website, it appears as though the site isn't even open. Since you just joined Dave's Garden today as a non-subscriber it appears as though this post is just a marketing ploy. Please clarify, if otherwise.

Gary, another nice photo of the Steller's Jay ....

Here is a photo of an immature Little Blue Heron.

Cran poop is the cause of infectious Campylobacter bacteria. A farm near Palmer, AK has been blamed for an infectious outbreak that sickened at least 18 people, after they ate raw peas. Joe McLaughlin state epidemiologist said the likely culprits spreading the illness, in the Palmer area are migratory Sandhill Cranes. Apparently the birds love peas in the area farm fields.

Possibly the same Cranes, Kiska posted pictures of, on this thread yesterday. (this picture is from my photo library)

Congrats, nanny! But I have to ask, is your Black-throated a Gray, a Green or a Blue?

LOL..........

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Green!! I corrected that now!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Lovely photos nanny. I particularly like the ones of the Black Thraoted Green Warbler and Magnolia Warbler.

GP, the White Winged Dove is really pretty.

(Zone 3b)

Grassmussen~seems they could very well be the same flock. We buy peas from the farm, eat them raw, but seemed to do ok.
Loved the variety of birds posted here; other than chickadees and nuthatch, seldom see any others at the house.

Gary I like the setting with the Stellar Gay and flowers,
Kiska thanks for sharing your pictures of Sandhill Cranes with us very nice, hope to see more of your post.
Titmouse is so sweet and adorable Pelle and Linth. Love the cooper shot also.
With all the variety of Warblers out there, I was wondering how come we didn't see much posting of them. Glad to see your getting some new comers Nanny.
Cute Osprey and White Winged Dove GP
Margaret Hope that arm of your get up and moving soon, so we can see more of your cutties.
The American Goldfinches are plenty here as well.

Black-Capped chickadees are also increasing in numbers.

Days are getting quite chilly here, the birds are puffing up in the morning when they come to feed.As you can see, from these 2 Chipping Sparrows.

awww, cute Burn.

Say, you really DO have to take a picture out your front door to compare it with that snow picture you shared with us last year. It would be interesting to see the difference.

Tiller, OR(Zone 8a)

Nights are quite cool here, but the days are still HOT! We need rain sooo bad! The birds have all but disappeared, except for the jays and towhees that are here year round. I did see some Chestnut-backed Chickadee's today though. They sure didn't stick around long, but were a real bonus because in the past I saw them in January/February. I likely won't be seeing many birds until the creek is flowing again. ;-(

Nice pics burn!

Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

I did say I was gonna get you, the front yard pic Marna, here it is. :) I should have taken the picture after the lawn was cut shame shame. Crabapple to the left where the Bohemian waxwings gathered and MockOrange to the right where the hummer perched on guard duty in the spring. Pole in the middle of hostas was the Redpolls station.

But what about the one looking out on the cars/street covered in snow? I'll have to look for it later.

One I forgot to include yesterday....the female Cardinal.
