Journal - new features today

I did some major major journal code work today, and the changes have been uploaded.

Members now have the option to create entirely new journals. Please play around a little and see what you think. Try creating a new journal (the link is in the main menu on the Journal homepage) and play with it. You should be able to easily move between the journals and stuff.

Soon I will update the external view of the journals, but for now they are the same as before. Please alert me immediately (via this thread) if you find any bugs at all! These is all very new and some very substantial changes were made today.

Dave, that sounds like a wonderful way to go. Thanks! Fun to put plants from one garden site in one journal, or one type of plant. I haven't figured out yet which to do.

Meanwhile, would you spare 3 teeny seconds and tell me how to add my pix from my journal to my thread (listing fresh seeds for trade) which I posted. Or is there somewhere on DG that will tell me. I looked but can't find.

The easiest thing to do will be to find the picture in your journal, and then copy and paste the address of that picture into your post.

DG will automatically make that address into a clickable hyperlink.

Yep, it's a teeeeeeny microchip inconspicuously embedded behind his left ear, Ruth. ;-)

Actually, it's activated by a teeny-weeny antenna that pops up periodically, from his right ear.

I can't figure out how to work the journal at all yet.

Welcome to Dave's Garden! I'm sure you will really like it here. There are lots of great people and Dave has so many really neat features for us.

My first suggestion for the journal would be to click on the link Journals under Cool Stuff. Take a look at how some of the other journals are set up. Dave has programmed this feature to be very flexible. You can make it as complex or as simple as you like.

My second suggestion would be to click on your Journal link under Your Pages. There is a link to a help document that should help get you started. If you have any questions about how to do something, you can post it here and someone will reply. Or you can send me an email directly.

Love the new features, have created a few journals and have been playing. The only problem, and maybe it's not, is when you view someones journal now, it shows all items/categories from all journals created. Looks rather strange to see 2 or 3 veggie categories etc. Could it just show the default journal? Or have the option to view each journal separately? What do you think?
