LOL Marna, that was a bad disappointment.
An out of focus almost perfect shot. :(
What's your most disappointing photo of the day? Vol. 2
oh burn. that would have been great. look at those tail feathers.
Wow...that is kind of cool Mrs.Ed!
Elphaba, that shot is funky..lol!
Nice capture Mrs_Ed I like it too.
Their so darn cute. Good one Mrs Ed!
just found this thread... what a great idea... I will have lots to post... LOL
Very cute and funny photos alot of them though I know it wasn't funny when you seen how they came out! I have my share of bad photos also and pretty much had the same experience as just about every picture here! I have the habit of looking at all my photos as soon as I'm done taking them and as I'm going through them the first thing I do is delete the bad ones ( Which there are many) so I don't have much to share, but, I'll save some from the next batch I take. Heres a couple where I totally missed the head because of bad timing..
OMG! Those are wonderful headless shots!
BTW, I'm going to start a headless bird thread on Halloween with a headless black and orange oriole photo, so don't delete your spookiest headless bird photos! Heck, if you have owls and bats keep those too!
oo, then we need an orange and black thread only.
I saw my first Black-crowned Night Heron today in the tidal canal behind work. I was sitting on the stairs at lunch without a camera or even Binoculars.
First thing I did when I got home is to put my bins in my bag.
Maybe tomorrow...
Thats great Shan. Conngratulations!
Nice catch Marna!
Those Cedar Waxwings always do that! They wait until the worst weather and then they show up! Good try though Nanny. I just love those birds.
Mrs. Ed, that's a cool shot. Maybe only Resin could look at it and tell that it was a bluebird, but still very cool in flight shot.
Shan, congrats on your new bird! Black-crowned Night Herons seem to be much more difficult to find than the Yellow-crowned ones.
There was a time when I had perfect lighting and views to get cedar waxwings, But, Unfortunately, Didn't know how to use the camera right at the time so lost out.
Elphaba, Downy woodpecker?
Yep, Downy. Right after I took this photo it landed less than 10 feet in front of me in the sun, but there was a small branch in the way and I didn't dare move.
Isn't that always the way sometimes?! ..Less then 10 ft. ... It can be so frustrating!
Maybe you can rig up a feeding station with some apples and berries for those waxwings.
Elph, I knew it was a male bluebird, but it was too far away and I just couldn't get the lighting right. I'd put it on manual and make a few adjustments and then it was blown out. So anyway, I was glad to see it.
HA! I doubt it. Those stinkers are FAST.

Yep, they do it deliberately, with malice aforethought!
Resin
Thats great, they are such troopers! Nice pics!
poor little thing...
I could hardly stand to see a hummingbird with a broken beak. Thank goodness it has you to feed it.
This is my new bird a Brown Thrasher in the new beautyberry that I still have not planted. If this were a clear shot, wouldn't it be pretty with those berries? I took it through a dirty window and the thrasher had just landed on that branch so it was bouncing. Oh well.
Oh it would be so pretty! Do they stay there during the winter or go further south? You may get more chances at pics.
My DH loves the Brown Thrasher. He really enjoys watching them. They were one of the birds that really enjoyed the grapes we put out this summer. He was really sad when they left.
I just love watching them too! I've never had them visit before and last night there were two of them!
that is a pretty missed shot!
Sure is pretty...shows nice detail...of the tail! lol
