She's About To..........#15

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

Good morning and Happy Monday all! The sky is blue, the weather is cooler and I have one little Brug bloom on a NOID plant just waiting to make the grand entrance. Life is good!

We came from here:

http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/899517/

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Thanks Karen! Kimbob, what lake is that? Is that a lake?

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Oh Bonnie I am freaking out! just checked the forecast and it said upper 30's tonight. Is that going to hurt my Brugs? It is too soon to haul everything innnnnnnn!!!!!!!!!!!!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

((((Louise)))) thanks for the notice....Upper 30's they will do okay, lower 30's- BAD...Mine have been out with 36-38 and did fine.. I just heard 44 here... should have worked harder in the basement yesterday... I've got my baby plumies in the diningroom and will have Mel help me to get the big one to the garage... then I can pull it in and out until it stays in for winter... trying to think what else won't like those cool/cold temps... probably a couple crotons I have and some philos... gee, it's really happening, isn't it?? Joyce, I think my BP will be okay, won't it?? The tropical hibs won't like it but they will be okay... except for C.Cola and the wind series ones, they have stopped blooming so much, anyway. lots of buds coming.... (now I'm thinking I'll set them inside the garage, too.... oh, decisions... )

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

#15 and counting more, my goodness chattie chattie girls!
Hey Luoise I only wish I had the magic powder so that you and I and AUnt B could grow, maybe another hottie has one, lol!

Kimbob, perfect combination of angels and devils!

THANKS KAREN!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

See what I mean about the confusion? I thought we were on 13 yesterday! LOL I'll go back the the thread before this one (there, no identity, no confusion! ha, lol) Sweet Audrey is still over there, giving us an update on her brug inventory...

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Lousie, the lake is Logan Martin lake an extension of the Coosa river. You probably could goggle Earth to find exactly where I'm lol.

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Thanks, Marion! BTW, what makes my Puppy Love's leaves curl? none of my others do that. They look like they've been to close to a fire, except they aren't burned!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Doe, I've heard this before... are the leaf edges dry or appear to be? are they curling up or down?

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

The outer edges curl up. I'll take a pic later and post it. They are not dry, just crinkled.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Please do post a pic, Audrey... I have a Salmon Perfeckion and 1 hibiscus I suspect broadmite on... they are both quaranteened away from their families, but now I think it might have been too heavy a dose of fertilizer.... but I'd like to have a gander at yours.. it could be heat related, too.. has it been very hot?

(Karen) Frankston, TX(Zone 8a)

I'm off for an afternoon of out to eat and a movie with my sweetie ☺ (he doesn't know we're going by Lowe's too, LOL) But, that's the price he pays for making me go see Death Race with him, hahaha! You girls behave yourselves and I'll see you later! Love and hugs, Karen

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Karen, it IS going to be a great day! Congratulations on your Noid bud about to bloom, is this your first bloom ever?? I'm sorry if you told me already, I AM a Confused-marble losing AuntB.. :)
I want to post a pic of my Snow Queen variegated hibiscus... (left my cam at home, with the most recent brug pics) I started from a 4 inch tip cutting 3 years ago... this is it's first summer to bloom and I love it's color and cascading effect.. I will trim a bit on her, soon....... I started with 3 or 4 cuttings... had them in a clear plastic cup, in water on glass shelves in front of the south facing window above my kitchen sink. I won't say they were easy, I ended up with one... but look what that one turned into.. I have put it up on a small stand as the blooms are easier to enjoy it keeps them off the deck boards.. I may pot it up to the biggest dollar general pot they make next spring, we'll see. Any brug-lover had experince with this hibiscus?

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Ooops! hit the wrong button... call me Beck ;) XO-luv you Beck.. lol Here's a pic of her this spring.. (found this pic, can't believe how much it grew!) I'll post a more recent one too, so you can see..

AuntB, I think BP will be fine. I had it out when we got down to 46 and she was fine.
They are saying 48 in KC so it will be about 46 again where I live.
Still the only thing I have indoors are the plumerias.
May start bringing things in tonight a few at a time. Still don't have cabinets up so this will be messier than I wanted.

MG conference is at Branson, we are leaving Wednesday evening, Thursday to play, Friday for advance class part of the day and play, Saturday tours and Saturday night a cruise, Sunday classes and back home to reality! DANG...LOL

This weather is so weird I am going to have to have everything in by that weekend cause I don't trust it. Then I have to worry about everything drying out while I am gone....ya know this happens every fall, trying to out guess the weather....

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Your Branson trip sounds great. We'll figure something out.. Your garden"house" sounds perfect, maybe you can winterize me in there, too? It would be like heaven! I'll can be your plant watcher. ;) I think they will be fine without additional water, Joyce.. check them the day before you leave..but most plants I lose inside is from too much water, not too little. Want me to come up there and "check" on them after the RU? hmmmmm? Might not have as many when you get back.. lol Really, Joyce I will check them if you want me to and I could NEVER steal anyones plants.. I'm not too proud to beg. Mom raised us by this Golden Rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.. too bad my mom didn't raise everybody.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Becky Becky Becky!!!! It is so serene and lovely! The arbor, the stonework, the whole area is so pretty and comfortable looking! I could sit there with a good book and spend the whole day... looks so comfy in the shade... you are getting good with the pics.. keepem' comin, lets see more.. (did you see my smarty-pants remark on #14? lol)

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Becky what a lovely pic you just sent, I want a place like that now!

Hey Aunt B where do you get the energies to talk so much, lol, you are just like my mother in law, and a riot too!

Bonnie.. If you are talking too much, then I have the same disease..LOL..please don't stop.. I love to hear every word you write!! Ty for the compliment.. maybe I'll learn this camera! I had one lil bloom on a walking Iris I have.. but I got too close. I checked and I have another bloom coming so maybe I can try again. I have some more MG's blooming this morning, but the wind has already messed the lil flowers up.Since this is my first for MG's.. I have been lurking on that forum!!..hehe.. got to find out what to do IF I get seeds. I think I will need to feed more and water more for them. I just started getting blooms cause I just planted them about a month ago. Lordy do they grow fast! noo I haven't gone back on #14.. I am soooo dense..lol.. ok I checked... I guess I just want to keep #14 alive...hehehehehe
Where's Peg??? I meant for her too to see the memory garden since both of you were wanting to see it...

and where's Louise?? LOL we are the same kind of folk...nutty.. funny and size 9

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

shhhhhhhhh Beckie, don't tell anyone, hee, hee!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Hey where IS Peg??? She wasn't going on a trip was she? Clemen, I can talk a mile a minute, fill up a post with a foot long reply, but I'm not always good about absorbing what I read. Becky I have 3 kinds of MG's blooming. THey will set seed soon, and probably already have.. but watch them to turn brown, some will have already dropped their seeds but the good ones will have a little poofey -(yes, poo-fee) seed pod, it will be small and inside will be sections with 4-6 little black seeds. I make sure they are clean and dry and and store them in the "rotter" (dehydrator bin) in the frig.

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Hello Hotties!

I'm here, or at least what is left of me. To tell a long story short, I have walking pneumonia! I told the doc I never walk, he better call it running. :) Anyway, I just got home from the doc and am going to bed for 24 hours. I will be okay, it just takes time. I used to get this every fall along with seasonal allergies when I was younger and have not had it in years!

I did read all of the posts and will have to catch up with everybody tomorrow! I really, really need some down time. Lov ya, Peg

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

OH MY PEG!!!!!! I feel for you girl!! That is NO laughing matter, and you bette take good care of yourself!! I know Keith will baby you too.. you need it!

Bonnie.. since the MG just started blooming Friday.. I think it was.. I have been watching the lil flower stems, but the first ones fell off. I am assuming the seed pod comes off the flower stem?

Ok.. girlies.. I am off to go see Momma.. I have been putting it off since Saturday! I am sooo bad!

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Peg, hope you get to feel better soon. Beck, have a nice visit with family. Y'all it's rainin 'cats and dogs' here. But the rain is much needed.

I've this single bloom of tripple white dat. Thought, someone may enjoy seeing this jewel.
Kimbob.

Peg, so sorry to hear bout your sickness, get better soon girl, we truly miss ya!
Hey Aunt B, what kind of morning glories do you have, I have right now a double pink one and waiting for seeds and a nice variagated one, that one has seeds. Waiting on the moon flowers to set the pods also. And of course I have the common ones all over the place. They are so pretty i think.

I also think the night blooming monster that scares Beckie or PEg might bloom again tonight or tomorrow. I'll try to post a pic later to share my good fortune with all of you.

Kimbob, love Dat there!

Ok will be back

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Peg...hugs so sorry to hear you are sick! I have had that a few times myself so I know it is bad. There are some nasty viruses going around. We all had a bad one here recently. I had it first and infected everyone except my hubby. I felt so bad. Lovely garden Becky! You worked really hard on that! Bonnie I did bring in my ylang ylang since it hates temps below 60 but I am going to chance it with my jasmines and others since it is just this one night. Going to go up the rest of the week. My EE's are in massive leaf dump mode right now. Dropping about 2/3 of the leaves, so fall is definitely here. Clemen, cannot wait to see another picture of your people eater lol.
Becky here is my daylily Twofer. This thing blooms and blooms and blooms!

If anyone likes four o'clocks I really recommend the limelight. That color is just crazy. neon lime green and you can even see the buds from a distance when the flowers are closed. Some of the plants grow variegated too. Just love them. They don't get floppy like the regular ones either.

Kimbob, that lake is lovely! Do you fish in it? Is your deck right on the water?

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Lavender4ever (Lousie?), yes we've a floating pier, and a smaller stationary one for my 'tropical garden'. Here is a view of the floating pier from the stationary deck. The brugmansia blooms belong to 'Tropical Sunset'. You and everyone need to make plan to come and visit us here. I'll take you out fishing and have a cook out before the water turns cold.

Aw, Peggy, you take it easy.. Sorry you are not feeling good.. it's Keiths turn to take care of you now... heck, put him on the puter, he could fill in as a Hottie ;) so we don't miss you so much! LOVELY Dat, Kimbob, reminds me of a wedding..Becky, I think your MG is good for seed, once the bloom shrivels and falls, the seed pod swells up where the bloom was, I didn't realize yours just started blooming... I had a few volunteers similiar to yours but I didn't get a bloom marked to save seed for a pot next year.. I have Kniola Black, on the MG forum it was decided that KB is Grandpa Otts, GO is the "old" name or something, but sometimes it looks blue..

Thumbnail by AuntB
NE, KS(Zone 5b)

The seed packet I bought 4 or 5 years ago said Red Star, MG peeps said it's not so I call it Just Pretty..

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Peg.. Running Pnemonia! lol (see takes a while to absorb) Kimbob, it's very lovely and I just might d-mail ya and say, I'm bringing bait and some food.. get the fishin poles ready... (after we tour your flowers a couple dozen times)
Heres the Milky Way MG, it's growing on an arbor I had the Monster moonvine on last year...

Thumbnail by AuntB
NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Here the MMV pic from last year... had 1 bloom this year, the dish shaded them too much.. and I have a surprise vine pic, after this one, then I'll stop it with the pics and go home to warn my flowers of the 45 degree temps forecast for here.. Lav, I think we're fine with the jasmine...... It's been cool and damp all day, 55 at 3 oclock... sure hope the weather guy is telling us the truth..

Kimbob you are sooo lucky!! I love fishing. What kind of fish do you catch there? My Dad had no sons so I was his fishing buddy. The deck and pier are awesome! So pretty dressed with your lovely plants.
Bonnie I have star of yelta, guess there is alot of controversy on the mg forum on what is what with that and GO and KB. I have a couple Japanese MG's this year and Beckygardener sent me some more variegated leaved ones for next year.
This is my pink JMG which sometimes blooms split and sometimes not.

Oh pretty, Beckygardener has some pretty ones.. I don't get over there to the MG forum...wonder why????? These are hyacinth bean vines, there are white ones, too. I don't have any this year :( The hummers love them.. Louise I was the tomboy of my dad's 4 girls.. fishing, digging in dirt, playing by the creek bank, cowboys and Indians, pet squirrels and racoons... ah to be young and know 1/2 of what I know now.. lol
