Oh, they're not ugly, they're cute! Poor little things don't have much down on them. They must need to be kept pretty warm when they're little.

Wild color female Dove she lost her mate and both her babys to a black snake this past spring.
I'm still looking for her a mate.

Wow, that white fantail is spectacular. I just adore her! The dove looks sort of sad. I'm sure I'm just anthropomorphizing, but she has a wistful look to her.

Heres a Baby Crelle OEG Its getting late and i need to be getting things ready for bed.

hey Claire, "anthropomorphizing" isn't it anthropomorphisizing? LOL

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

LOL...nice try TF, but no. :-)

Commander Moxon actually does have decent spelling skills...even if she can't fly a shuttle in any proper manner whatsoever!

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

i knew SOMEBODY would look it up, leave it to a Canadian to have to always be right when it comes to the English language. my DH always is... he is a "French Frog"...

edited to add SHAME ON YOU for using that word...

STOP! Don't you all see what is going on here? We were at least stabilized with the chicken addiction--now one of CF's cronies has shown up and we are being lured even deeper into fowl obsession. First they get you with a couple downy chicks and the promise of eggs, then those cute funny ducklings--maybe a goose or two--turkeys would be interesting and very patriotic--then wham! You're thinking of building dovecotes and drooling over fantails. This is BAD. VERY, VERY BAD.

I used to have a rescued ring-neck dove name "Bob". I loved Bob. He died a couple years ago......

MUST TURN OFF COMPUTER--MUST NOT LOOK AT PIGEON PICTURES>>>>>>>>>!!!!! Must not stare into Harmony's eyes. STOP......... IT!

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

farnkly i am not sur ewho to fear more, Harmony or CMoxon...

You've just had bad experiences with undomesticated Canadians. Now I think Moxon is very civilized. Completely crazy, but very civilized.

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

well, Harmony seems civil enough.... but Cmoxon can hynoptize chicks, and she anthromorphizes them too.... sounds Very Suspicious if you ask me...

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh that baby is soooo cute! Crelle OEG? What is that? I gotta have one! LOL I could stare at that all night!! So darling and snuggly looking!

Harmony there is a wild dove in my garden like your widow gal. Sometimes it hangs out on our deck. I'm not sure if there is more than one since I only see one at a time. We usually call them Mourning Doves cause the band on their necks looks like the armband people use to wear when they were in mourning.

Claire some people eat baby pigeons. They call them squabs. I couldn't do it!

If I had to haul my butt back to Canada, who would take care of my chickens???!!!

Thank you, Catscan, for noting that I am civilized. ;-D I agree that I am completely crazy.

I think I can anthropomorphize out here in the wilds of Iowa without getting into too much trouble. But talking to your chickens is a sign of your own anthropomorphic behavior you know. You can't blame it all on me....

I see the point now, with Harmony being a complete enabler and well-entrenched partner of the chicken fairy. She is clearly causing entirely new and serious reactions of wanderlust regarding pigeons, doves, and other assorted fowl. Everybody needs to wear their super-duper-mind-beam-blocker sunglasses for a while. This should help to dull the response to the pigeon photos, which have no doubt been carefully airbrushed to suggest absolute perfection and enhance the addictive effect. Be afraid, be very afraid....

Hello! I'm thankful for all the comments on my birds and the pictures are indeed of my birds.
I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as i do raiseing them and yes fear me because i love spreading the joy of owning birds around. Hello I'm Back!!! Here They Are!!! I had a hectic day where nothing seemed to go right.
I Returned home to find these little ones frantic and 5 outside the pen and mama hen just a wailin.
Seems my dog who hates chipmunks decided one was under her cage so he decided to dig it up.
I have hardware cloth along the bottom of the pen and have raised dozens in there but i guess them being so frightened they somehow got high enough to get over it. I caught all the babys put in fresh water and food and within 5 minutes all was calm and they were eating and at the last check all was well. I scolded the dog and filled in the whole but hes a good dog he kills all my rats and even kills the snakes that dare come in my yard. Let the pictures begin!!!!!!!!!!

I am so loving the pic of the little blue chicks - they are just cuter than anything. All your birds are gorgeous. I also really like the sport mille fleurs. Keeping my special glasses on though, to avoid having to make a sudden road trip to GA!!
