Connection Interrupted?

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

For about the last three days I've had periods when I can't access DG. I can surf all over other sites, but I can't get into DG. Sometimes it only lasts for a few minutes, and other times it's lasted almost an hour.

The message I get is this:

Quoting:
Connection Interrupted

The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.

The network link was interrupted while negotiating a connection. Please try again.

It's not just happening on one computer either. I've had it happen on my new desktop, my new laptop, and the computer at work. I'm using Firefox for a browser, my two home computers have Vista and my work computer has XP.

Is this happening to anyone else, or does anyone have any ideas? It's very frustrating.

I haven't noticed anything, but most of the day Sunday and Monday AM I was traveling so wasn't checking in as much as usual (and when I was on, it was using the browser on my cell phone). But Monday afternoon and yesterday I was on a fair amount and didn't have any issues--last night I noticed things were a little slow and the page would take a while to load, but never got disconnected or anything. I'm using Safari browser on a Mac though so that may make a difference.

I get that message on DG a lot. Sometimes just while reading a forum post.

Joan, it's been happening to me, too. Just started a few days ago.

I recently upgraded FireFox (version 3, I believe it was) and wondered if that came into play. Did you happen to upgrade recently as well?

I also noticed today it tends to happen when another page (or tab) is loading/re-loading and DG gets the disconnection message. (I also remember it disconnecting a non-DG page once, too, so wonder what's up with that?)

PS...I'm on dial-up. You think upgraded FF times out if too much info is passing too slowly or something?

I have high speed broadband--I've noticed it too, but only on this site.

It happens quite often with me too that I suddenly get disconnected, just now it happened in the European Forum when I clicked on a thumbnail to enlarge a picture, but it usually fixes itself after a while..
i'm on IE and have ADSL..

Very weird, but it just happened again after I posted this and try to back to the thread...

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Yeah, I upgraded too, and wondered if that could have something to do with it. I can't remember when I upgraded, but the problems have just started in the last few days. But I'm still scratching my head wondering why it's not happening on any other sites when I surf them using Firefox. During some of the times I couldn't access DG, I spent the time looking up information on other sites with no problem.

I haven't had any problems today from the office, so maybe the issue has corrected itself? We'll see if it happens tonight at home.

I have high speed connection, so that's not an issue with me, but I guess it could be part of your problem.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I'm all of a sudden having strange happenings here again too. I guess it's not corrected.

Gent, Belgium(Zone 8a)

Same with me happening here, it just disconnected once more trying to get back to the thread but then it fixed itself again..

like the top banner pic suddenly disappearing with nothing but a thumbnail box?

Posts about missing images belong in this thread:

I saw that--I was just remarking on Joan's comment about "other weird things"
=)

Gent, Belgium(Zone 8a)

Same thing happens with me too, like dmj mentioned a "suddenly disappearing with nothing but a thumbnail box"...

Gent, Belgium(Zone 8a)

In fact, I even don't see thumbnails but only green with white enligned rectangular boxes ..

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

I'm becoming more convinced it's a Firefox issue. Right now I can't get on with Firefox, so I'm using IE and got on just fine.

Gent, Belgium(Zone 8a)

But Joan I am on IE and having the same problem??????

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Then I guess that shoots that theory, huh? It's very strange, whatever is causing it.

I'm back to Firefox again now. ;)

Gent, Belgium(Zone 8a)

Just to say that everything turned back to normal again for me too :-)

I've not had any time-outs this evening after the earlier problems, so I'm crossing my fingers that whatever the cause was, it's fixed.

(Zone 1)

I use a Mac and Safari as the browser and have had something similar happening recently. This evening it happened three times when If was on DG.

I don't remember the exact wording of the message I've gotten but it says something about the connection being interrupted and then something about not being connected to the internet. I always thought it had something to do with our cable. I don't get disconnected from the net because within a few minutes the page loads when I hit return.

My husband tells me I should use Firefox. I am just used to using Safari. I think the next time it happens I will switch over to Firefox and see if it makes any difference. I am really technically challenged and usually just wait a few minutes and try again and things are okay.

I'm using Safari and haven't had any problems at all.
