I noticed the boys are starting to get a little pudgy. I imagine they will be leaving soon. Saw this out through the window so just grabbed a shot...not on the right settings.

I know, I was afraid it might be a tick...:(

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Nice ones nanny!

Yes they can get ticks..some one else had one...maybe over on the Hummer & BF forum. The tick kills them within a day or two if not removed.

holy cow!

IRIS, Would you like to start the next Ruby-throated Hummingbird thread?

Metairie, LA

Beautiful pictures one and all. I saw a male ruby throated humming bird trying to get inside my friend's house in Baton Rouge the day after Hurricane Gustave came through. He seemed very confused and kept trying to fly against the front door glass window. Mizell Farms in Folsom, LA usually has their hummingbird/butterfly festival today but they canceled it because of the hurricane. I hope the birds wait a little longer before coming down here.

Thanks all, and Nanny, I very much like the two new ones!

pelletory, Thanks! ..I'll start the new one...

Manchester, TN

Haven't been here for awhile, so I'm playing catchup today. Envious of all the great pictures. I noticed the spot on a couple of my hummers' throats and wondered why - now I know!! That's what I get for staying away so long. Starting to get depressed cause the hummers will soon be disappearing - about when does that happen in Middle TN, anyone know?
