August Blooms Part 3

Mid, ID(Zone 3b)

Love the little blooms on codanthes devosiana 'Paula! So delicate and pretty, good picture Gail, I have a devil of a time getting them to show up good.

Speaking of small blooms I was finally able to capture the pretty colors in Rio das Padres "dark"! Not bad for smaller than my little fingernail. ^_^

Elle I would leave the AV in a pot that would then set down inside the tea pot, that way you have good drainage and still the effect of it being in the tea pot.

wow, I didn't know you can grow episcias from leaves. Will try that.

Elle, i do the same. I leave the plant in the pot and place it in the porcelain container.

Brenada..How in the dickens did you get such a great closeup of rio?? Everytime I try to get a descent closeup pic everything is a blur..lol..Great Photo of that Gorgeous Little Bloom : )

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Rain, I meant to ask you what is the name of the wonderful purple eucodonia? I want to add that to my order of seeds, please.

I am always amazed at anyone who can successfully grow Kohlerias..........just can't get the hang of growing them.

Lilburn, GA

Oooohhhh....nooo...

what a cutie! I read Rain's post again. I didn't realise how small that little flower is. Great photo, Rain!

Gail, I got those as Eucodonia red leaf and Eucodonia green leaf. The red leaf one is the one blooming. They are the first Eucodonia I have ever grown and still the only ones I have.

Spider, here's a picture of the whole plant. Very compact and pretty. I don't know if I'm growing them right or not, though, so maybe they're supposed to be larger than this. LOL I have them outside and they're getting quite a lot of direct sun. I'd like to find more of these. If memory serves, they grow from rhizomes.

Wow ladies.Great pictures.

Ohh Amy,Your eucodonia is to cute! I've been eying them and just asked Ki last week if they where hard to grow.

What did Ki say? She's the one who sent me the rhizomes for these, but I can't remember how she said to grow them. I've been looking for more of them to buy, but I can't find them anywhere. Do you know where to buy them, Jan?

Man, I thought today was going to be a slow day but it's already past 11!

Susan, Kohleria Dice Dots is lovely! I have a soft spot for the ones with that coloring - not that I have any luck blooming Kohlerias, but anyway.... Oh, and I don't think the mini red Sinn was from me, was it? I don't remember ever having that one.

Hi Brenda! I'm glad you like the erionoides. I was very pleasantly surprised the second year I had it - with a bit stronger light, I got very compact growth topped with a bunch of flowers. Quite the cute one - although of course the blooming season is short. And Bristol's goose egg has to be one of the best streps ever. What a lovely one. (and I don't even like pink or yellow throats, lol) And excellent job on Teddy Bear! I've never tried growing an episcia from leaf.

Amy - long time no see. I believe the eucodonias came out of a packet of seed from Chiltern and they were labeled species mix. Yes, they are rhizomatous and stay small. I kept only a few and seem to have lost the red one, although it's possible I have some in the seed tray - haven't had time to stick my head in there in a few months..... (What's new?) I love the hairiness and the flowers - when I ordered the seed, it was a gamble because I hadn't heard anyone say how adorable they are. Turns out to have been a good choice.

Great to see you, Ki! I figured you'd been staying busy. That's the green one that's blooming, but I'll be happy to send you back rhizomes of the red one if you've lost it. The green, too, if you want. So there's not a place to just buy the rhizomes? I'll check the Ges Soc for seeds.

I'm thrilled to hear you say that about Bristol's Goose Egg, as I just bought one from Nancy on the marketplace tonight!

DC metro, VA(Zone 7b)

mad busy might describe it. And for no good reason :(

I know Lauray has rhizomes but only in spring.

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Thanks for the reminder, Keyring, of Chilterns.........I had totally forgotten about them as a source for good seeds.

Ki,
It had to be from you as I have not gotten any Sinns from anyone else..LOL I only killed one or two things you sent me and they rest I rooted or they grew and I was thrilled... Do you want a rhizomes from the kohleria? you also sent me this little dark green thing kinda reminded me of like a flat string of pearls but I know it was not and I put it on top of the soil and she is also growing like a weed... I may have an old picture I took of it so I will try to post it....
I love looking at everyones blooms here.. Even on a bad day you come here and you see all the beauties and it make you smile....
Hugs,
Susan
PS Ki, any time you want to send something please do...LOLOLOL Oh I have one you sent that has a real LONG flower stems with little flowers growing on the ends of each little stem up the up the flowers...

Keyring, are you still a member for th GHA? If so, is your name on the seed list?

Taft, TX(Zone 9a)

Since I still can't go outside, I took a few pics today.

I just love Space Dust........I am never quite sure how she is going to bloom. She really wants to revert to her parentage.
