If a "time stamp" were added to the posts on "dave's garden chat" (Tue & Thur) then people just clicking in would not expend time and bandwith trying to talk to someone who has not been there for an extended amount of time? Best too all - Regards Dyson.

If the chat room were "cleared" between Tuesday and Thursday sessions, people logging on at the beginning of chat wouldn't hang around waiting for replies from people who hadn't been there for days. (It's not always obvious that you're looking at "leftover" chat.)

I'd find a time stamp next to every post a little distracting... but I like the idea! Maybe a time stamp (of the last post made) could be added next to the person's name on the "who is on?" list. For me, that would be really useful!

I often drop in and out of the chat room but keep the window open, and I know others do the same. Knowing when somebody last posted would make the "who?" more useful.

I just now set up the chat system to clear itself after each chat time. So, after the chatroom closes on Tuesday, it'll clean itself up and ditto for Thursday morning.

So, when you first enter the chatroom upon its opening, you should find a blank slate.

Thank you, Dave!

That addresses some other concerns I had also about "leftover" chat. :-)

Dyson did bring up an interesting (and different) point though about working in some sort of time stamp...

Thanks Dave that will help.

Dave, I noticed the chat room didn't get cleared this morning... nobody's there yet, but there's "leftover" chat from Tuesday. Maybe that's another one-time glitch with the recent server problem (now fixed I think).

Heya! On this thread http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/896350/#new Dave mentioned that he'd set up the chat room to clear between sessions. I haven't been chatting as much lately (been away), but I noticed a couple of times that it hadn't cleared and blamed it on a glitch since there seemed to be other server issues at the time. Today there's "leftover" chat again from Tuesday night's session.

Is this a glitch that can be fixed when Dave gets a spare moment, or has there been a decision to return to the previous way of things?

I know it's a minor concern compared to other things at the moment, but it was nice to have the clean slate at the beginning of each session. Thanks!

Jill
