OOOO Suzy so sad to hear that. We'll miss you.
Hugs
plant swap
Sue - we'll miss you. Let me know when you come up to visit with Gordon, though. If it's a Saturday, I'd love to come over and visit. I'm about 20 minutes away from him.
Kris and I are meeting up at 9:00 on Saturday morning before the swap at the Starbucks on NE 116th and Avondale Road (5 mins north of Redmond on Avondale Road). It's a straight shot east from Kirkland and I-405 and a straight shot north from where 522 turns into Avondale Road. There's a PCC and a Shell Station at that intersection.
Anybody who wants to meet up with us there is welcome. Hopefully we'll have a chance to sit and chat for a few minutes before we descend on Gordon . . .

I'm not sure what time my DD and I will arrive - I'm going to try to be at my DGD's place by 9:30 or so (in Lynnwood); we'll transfer the plants from my van to the (much better) rental car that she has, then we'll head out.
Woohoo!!!
Kathy - I'll see you and Kris at Starbuck's. Looks like a bit of drizzly grey weather has descended on us, which will necessitate the harvesting of tomatoes. Wish we'd have at least another week of 75°...
I agree Pix's all his fault, Bad just bad Steve... LOL
Have not heard from Jim, Don't know what we are doing, my phone has been out since 3pm yesterday back on today at 4 pm, major outage. Still have not heared from him gave him my cell # still not a peep from him, Maybe his phone is out too, I don't have it, does anyone else? DMail me please, need to know what I'm doing????
Kate, see you there.
And we need some rain tonight - tomorrow, sun would be good. But tonight I'm doing a little rain dance . . .
Good to hear so many are coming!
Susy anytime you are up this way stop in! Dmail me and I'll give you my cell # so you can make sure I'll be here.
Everyone just show up whenever, I'm going to be outside anyways,Can't believe it is already tommorow!!! Ready as I'm going to be!!
I'm kinda bummed, Have not heard from Jim, but talked to his roomy. His DD is going to be there tomorrow, his roomy thinks he forgot LOL
Will know more later I hope. Cars loaded and ready to go. This is what I have to share.
2 Setosa Iris
5 Cros. (Orange)
1 Jap. Anemone
2 red/white Columbine
2 red Columbine
5 Pussy willow starts
Bag of Iris (old fashion, purple)
2 Calla lillys (babies)
and some others.
I didn't get my van loaded yet - need to get out there early tomorrow (and I first need to UNload the stuff from my brother's that is going to the thrift store!). I'll probably just bring a variety of Heuchera and a few Phlox if they didn't get murdered from lack of water while I was away so much. Next Spring I should have lots more and be a better participant in a swap!
I just got a call from Jim, He will not be there, His DD is coming this Sat. to visit Him. He got the dates mixed up, but so wanted to be there. ask me to send apologies to all.
I will be there, car is loaded .
See Ya All Soon.
I may get disowned, but plants are plants. It's the people I want to see!
See you in the morning! Dad and I are headed out of here at 8 a.m. should put us up there around 9:30 I'm guessing. I think he is bringing more plants than I am! Hugs, Rach
Gordon, met too - I love plants, but I am really excited to see everyone!!!
Sounds like it will be a fabulous time! I wish I could come, but my mom is visiting from Olympia this weekend, and I need to clean the house too as it is approaching a state of no return. Please post pictures, and I will live vicariously through DG. Gordon said it...what I'd like most is to see the people. I've really enjoyed meeting several of you on a few occasions and know that we are all brothers and sisters of the heart when it comes to PLANTS.
My only consolation is that there's a 40% off sale at Colvos Creek Nursery across the street and I can take a break from vacuuming to go buy a tree.
Have a great time everybody!!
I just found this very interesting article about Dan Hinkley's new place, it sounds like a dream..................... http://www.oregonlive.com/hg/index.ssf/2008/09/dan_hinkleys_new_garden_lives.html Wouldn't it be fun if we could tour it (dreaming again.....)
Carole, I'm so sorry about your mom. You have been through so much, and yet love and faith and your vary caring family have held you up in such hard times. I'm glad to hear you are going out to have a little fun too amidst it all.
Holly you will be there in spirit tomorrow. Have fun at Colvos! Any particular tree you have your eye on?
Hi Rach! I saw the sale sign on my way home, so I hopped on over just before they closed tonight just to see what caught my eye. There is a Nyssa sinensis that has nice Fall color and apparently does OK in clay soils (which I have). I have to look it up in plant files to see if there is mare info on it.
Ooooh, sounds gorgeous! I just looked it up in the plant files, I love the bark and trunk habit it has. Have a great day tomorrow. Tell your mom "hello" from me. Rach
I'm not lazy, like soferdig was, but I am just so tired I can barely see straight. I've gone through this thread three times and cannot find the directions. Can someone please post them again so I can get there tomorrow? The car is finally loaded up. I refuse to bring these plants back home. They deserve better than I can give them.
When Gordon posted it I put it directly into my Palm Pilot, that is the only reason I still have it :0) Here it is:
My address is: 15908 SR 9 SE
Snohomish, Wa 98296
Directions are pretty simple. Coming from the south take I-5N to I-405N. Take the 522 exit towards Woodinville. Stay on it till the SR 9 exit, Snohomish. Turn left on to SR 9 and my house is 5 miles north of the exit on the left. I will have signs out and plenty of parking and tables set up for people.
Now go and get some happy, garden dream slumber.
Yes I was out tonight in Juneau and had an old truck that I was driving that stopped when I hit a water puddle and had to walk a mile home to the clinic. Things are bad here too. The cop who pushed us off the road wanted my drivers licence and I told her I was not driving because the two of us not driving were to buzzed to tell her what was wrong with the truck. Lots of fun in the rain tonight. Have fun at the swap tomorrow. Steve
Lots of fun in the rain today! Hope it stops soon! Going to pull the truck out and give us a dry place. But shouldn't be to bad!!
It'll be fine - all of us have webbed feet and none of us melt!!! Not a problem!!
deep regrets to all, but my Daughter called Friday and will be coming over from Ellensburg to visit, along with my Granddaughter. this is a rare get together. we aren't able to get together all that often. rats!!! I have a lot of plants to bring to the meet. I'll save them in my small greenhouse for the spring. I hope we can all get together then. for the last 3 months I have had a crew working on clearing my property and my neihbors have donated the area in between us to use as I please. ( they don't know what they're getting into). I have 50 yards of Tagro coming. and one load, to start, of rock. in one area I have all my hybrids growing to their potential. I now have 3 hybrids being Tissue Cultured in Holland. Blue Wu, Twizzle, and a no name as yet green white back and red petiole one. I've been getting a lot of mail on how I was able to get all the ruffling on Twizzle. I don't have an answer for that. the combination of genes was there, is all I can guess. Jim
Blue Wu and Twizzle!! Hurray! I love those names. They are winners for sure, Jim.
Thanks, Rachel, for the directions. Knew I could count on you, Miss Organization!
Sofer, don't post about being too buzzed to drive! I may have to let your wife know about that and she will worry even more! Plus, I will worry and so will everyone else. Bad boy! Your list of faults is getting long. First, you take our sunshine. Then you are too buzzed to drive. The very idea!!
Hi Gordon,
Ok, sounds good, I'll drop you a dmail. Hope everyone has a great time today! Really sorry to miss seeing everyone.
Hey, with me, Jim, Sheri, and MHF not able to make it, maybe you should have a "make-up" day, lol!
Jim, I've been meaning to tell you-the hosta that I got from you this spring (the one I sent you the picture of) is blooming-six bloom scapes,(!!!) with pale purple striped blooms, and the scapes are red or mostly red! It's wonderful!
It is currently 56 degrees and a mist. Got tables set up under the trees where its mostly dry.But there is food inside, so people can migrate around.
I,m leaving here shortly.
Need your # Gordon, case I get lost
I'm late!! Save some stuff for me!! :) Coming now!
I wasn't driving just riding. We had a designated driver. It was the guys night out and we had fun. You guys have fun at the swap meet.
Hey Sue. . .I'm all for a "make-up" swap day! Feel like I always miss out on stuff! = :::: ( *sniff*
It was purely wonderful - and if there is a "make-up" day, I'll come just for the social part of it!
Thanks to all for such a glorious time - I'm told it was raining, I was too happy to be with everyone to notice!
Gordon is an outstanding host and his yard is incredible . . . can't wait to see how the greenhouse turns out!!!
I'm sorry I was not able to be there. I hope there will be another soon.
Now, is there something Monday night in Redmond? I may be able to get to that. Details, please.
Gwen
What a fine day in the rain.
Gordon in his amiable self showed each and everyone on a custom chaotic tour of the gardens around his house. And what a bunch of gardens they are.
I promised not to bring home too much, and the Jeep was stuffed to the gills. Plants for all around my gardens and then some. All in all it was great fun, and 3 hours blew right by. It took another 3 hours to deal with all the plants at home.
Gwen, I have some Phlox for you from Melissa - maybe we can get together next week sometime?
