Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

Patrob, is the BlueStem Grass and Liatris still available?

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Yes, Anna. i have plenty of both. They are native in this area, and I have an abundance.

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

How tall does the liatris get?

North Richland Hills, TX(Zone 8a)

Patrob - thanks so much. I'll be thinking about you & your neice tonight. I'm sure everything will be fine, but I know what you mean about being relieved once you get that call. I'm gonna take it easy tonight & take a fresh look at your list tomorrow - I'll let you know if there's anything that would help me get started. :)

Becky - yeah, I'm definitely still learning the plants and PlantFiles has helped a lot. I'll be re-looking through your list tomorrow too :)

Josephine - the links work great and are a HUGE help. thanks for being such a fantastic organizer!

Night night,
Jennifer

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

You are welcome Jennifer.

Colleyville, TX(Zone 8a)

Josephine, thanks for organizing the links from me too.
Hey Becky...how do you BOLD?

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Anna... type < then b then > then type the word/s you want bold then type< then / then b then>..... IF I had typed it like I was making it bold.. it would have done it here too.. the < .. and b and > and the rest at the end of the word/s disappear after you send it. See??? Have fun!!

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Good deal Jennifer.. I hope I have something you like!!

Patty and Patricia.. and anyone else interested... I looked up the coleus I have and not sure these are exact, but they are close if not the same ones. I am trying to get some to root.. so LMK if any want any of these too...
Kiwi Fruit... this is the kaliedoscopeone I listed above.. it has more burgandy than green, but i noticed today some are lighter burgandy.. and some dark burgandy.. and some have a lil more green too...I love the leaves.. sooo different!
Kong Mosaic
Defiance or Copper Glow.. this one is more coppery orange
Velvet Lime

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Hey, all, is anyone having problems with connections? I have lost three posts.

Anyway, Anna, SusQ, Jennifer, and also Mimi, Corkg and Nana, the thread list is overwhelming to newbies. They are offering this, and this, and even more of that. The Plant Files are getting a workover just looking up all of this. And then deciding what you could trade. Whew!!!!!

I'm to the point, I'm going to start at the pavillion and just work my way around just to get ideas for next time. But, books, coffeegrounds, compost, seed pots, fertilizer, art items, newspapers for lasagna bed, eggshells, we will find something to bring. I finally just started looking at all the forums to get ideas of what to bring.

Any newbies want to join me, meet at the south side of the pavillion. ))

And after I popped that one off, it is probably in the lake since I have never been there. :) I am going to have fun!! And I am not going to tell you my wrestling name, Sockajewea and Pokehantus would never forgive me.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Peg.. I haven't lost any tonight.. but I do on ocassion... This RU.. I am going to make sure( I hope!) to ask everyone where they plant it.. how much water etc. I am just tooooooo lazy to look eveything up in the plant files.. hehehe... I am trying to add what I have to a journel so maybe I can remember...LOL.... might as well tell or someone might give you a wrestling name.. You better get in bed if you have to be up by FIVE!! I can sleep till I want to..

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I am just now reading the requests.

Anna, the liatris bloomstalks vary in height from 12" to 30" depending on the amount of water the plant receives and the fertility of the soil. We had a lot of rain last spring, so I made a support grid with short pieces of bamboo and string to keep the tall bloomstalks upright. In a normal year, mine are a little shorter and do not need support. The ones that grow wild in this area are usually in rocky, caliche soil along and have much shorter bloomstalks.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Peg, I just noticed that you have pine needles on your have list. Would you mind bringing some for me?

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Becky, I would love to have one of each coleus! Thank you for looking them up, and even if the names are not exact, they sound gorgeous.

North Richland Hills, TX(Zone 8a)

pbtxlady - I noticed it looks like you're offering up a few of the dayliles from the recent co-op. I bought from them too and I'm assuming these will be arriving to us mid-September. How do you plan on storing them in the meantime & bringing them to the RU? This is my first time working with daylilies (and most plants!), so I'm not sure what they'll need - but if I can figure it out, I could probably add a few of my new orders to my RU trade list.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Mornin!!!

NP Patricia... I already started potting some cause I know how these addictions of ours makes us crazy at times..LOL This is my first year having them, and I am amazed how they will root themselves if they touch the ground!! Talk about an easy plant!... I edited my list last night and almost put you and Patty down.. but wanted to see if it was any you already had first... BTW.. I asked for some of that "bad boy" of yours on the T RU thread, but if you'd rather you could bring it to this one??LMK

TY Sheial for the walking Iris!!

Josephine and Sheila.. my link is working great..TY

North Richland Hills, TX(Zone 8a)

I just updated my trade list - please check it out & see if there's anything that any of you would like..

Josephine - can I get one of your double purple daturas?

Patrob - I'd love to have a red stripe canna, if you have any left to offer.

Becky - can I get the canna (yellow w/ orange spots), stargazer lily, and rose mallow?

Merpeg - if the Persian Shield makes it, I'd love to try that out.

Thanks!
Jennifer

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Jennifer, the 'Red Stripe' cannas multiply like bunnies. I HAVE cannas and will bring you a clump.

Thanks, Becky. I've started cuttings of my coleuses too. They are looking good after three days, so I am going to go ahead and add them to my list later this afternoon. When you have a chance, check to see if you would like any of them. (Would you prefer that I bring the plants I have for you on the 11th or the 18th? It does not matter to me, but I'd like to take plants for each person to only one RU.)

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Jennifer.. got you down.. glad you found something i can bring you!!

Patricia.. I'll check your list.. I have fallen in luv with the coleus, and had NO idea there were sooo many until I looked for mine.. I hear you on the confusion of both RU's..LOL I am haveing a hard time... If you want to.. wait and bring them all to this RU.. That will help me a lil since we will be camping all the month of October at Sabine Pass... can't you see us now with a mini nursery outside the camper??LOL

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Melva,
May I get a trade of your zebrinas? I have one that I love. I know they will multiply, but mine is on it's first year and my sister has fallen in love with it and wants to get some now and she hasn't been able to find them. So, whatever you have of them to share, she would love to have. Check my list to see if there is anything I have to offer you in trade.
I am looking forward to seeing you again.
Charlene

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

Pat...could I get some of those red stripe cannas as well, and some liatris and mexican mint marigold?

Thanks! Kim

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

I have you down, Kim.

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Jennifer, you have a Persian Shield coming. They are looking good so far. I would love a hardy hibiscus, if they make it. Hope your day was better today! ((:))

Pattie, on the pine needles, a weird question. Do you want fresh or dried? (They will be clean either way!) If you're thinking mulch, I can do the dried. If you're thinking of weaving, I can do either way. Some people prefer fresh for their weaving but that is pretty much a personal preference. :)) That's one of my new winter projects this year, so we'll see how lopsided I get it!!

North Richland Hills, TX(Zone 8a)

Pattie & Becky - thanks for marking me down!

Peg - thanks for the Persian Shield (sounds gorgeous!). I'll set aside a hardy hibiscus for you & keep you posted on how it's doing. I just started them from seed 3-4 weeks ago, but the seedlings all have 1-2 sets of true leaves & are looking good. Hopefully by Oct. they'll be doing even better!

oh and I'm having a much better day today - thanks for asking... :)

Jennifer

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Peg, I'm going to use them for mulch, so either way is fine. I used to be able to get pine needles here years ago and loved the way it looks. But I can't find them any more.

Becky, I don't think I responded to your coleus. I don't have any of those and would love a little cutting of whatever you have. Are you new to coleus? Just a tip... I have been rooting them in water all my life. (Of course I didn't do my 500 tip cuttings from NC Farms that way--LOL--what a visual--500 bottles all over my house.) But for me they root in water in a week or less, in a bright window. I know some people believe that water roots aren't strong enough, but it's always worked fine for me, and it's a lot less trouble. They'll even grow there quite happily for a few weeks.

By the way, do you have an extra Stargazer? That's one my mom really wants and I've been meaning to get her one.

Jennifer, yes, the daylilies are from Lorraine's coop. And I don't quite know what I'll do about them. I was planning to go to the ET RU and get them in person, so storage was going to be her problem (LOL). But now I probably won't be able to go. So I guess I'll get her to ship them, and pot them up when they get here.

Pattie, can bring them from the ETRU. Do they need to be potted, or could they wait a week. What stargazer are you talking about? I think I have the some of the lily ordered, would have check.

North Richland Hills, TX(Zone 8a)

pbtxlady - that's probably what I'll do with my daylilies from the co-op too. I hoping to have a few extras I can share. Can I get your 2 elephant ear pups (Black Magic & Illustris)? Please take a look at my list & see if there's anything I can bring for you.

It looks like Josephine's started a second RU Trade thread...

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Sure, Jennifer, you can have the pups. Have to warn you that they are new and very small. They grow pretty fast in my pond, though.

Cocoa, if you'd bring my daylilies, that would be wonderful. Are you sure you'll have room? There are 20 of them, and she may have them potted. If that's a problem, just let me know and I'll have her ship them.

The Stargazer I'm looking for is the Oriental. Guess I had daylilies on the brain. :)

North Richland Hills, TX(Zone 8a)

Pattie - do you think the EE pups will do ok potted in soil & watered frequently? No pond here... I have another EE that I just started from bulb & it's doing well since I'm watering daily & keeping it moist. I'd love to give your varieties a try, but would hate to give them environment they won't like.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Jene....you can't kill the EEs up here as long as they get water, they are happy.

Let's all go to the NEW THREAD.... please.
http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/896661/
This one is s-l-o-w to pull up.

Denton, TX(Zone 7a)

Charlene, sure I can give you a Zebrina....I will look at your list
Shelia, Turks Cap and Monarda...you are down.
and Charlene for Monarda...don't see anything I want on your list, but that is okay.

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Carl, please join us over at http://davesgarden.com/community/forums/t/896661/

Hi Friends!
This year I have all I need for my own personal garden, (thanks to many of you here) however since DG is the ultimate plant connection I have the following "wants" to submit:

Breaking Ground for a Wildlife Garden and Whitley Road Elementary in Watauga, TX

Can you help?

I have been asked to transform an area ( 52' x 28') at my son's school into a wildlife/butterfly garden in which the kids can work and learn about insects gardening. It is in a recessed area overlooked by the school's art room. I have compiled a short list of plants (below), however I am open to other offerings. Just as long as they are Texas natives, or otherwise deemed indispensable for this type of garden. If any of you coming to the swap on the 18th would like to pitch in please dmail me. All help is very deeply appreciated!

Thank You!
