Shucks! It rained and thundered almost all day today and I didn't even get a chance to go to the P.O. I'm afraid to mail on Thurs., so I'll be sending my box out on Sat.

Your box came this afternoon. I'm so excited. I'm new to gessies, having grown only african violets years ago.
I got three beautiful Chiritas: Chirita aiko, Chirita stardust, and Chirita kazu. These are new to me. I've never heard of them before I came to this forum.
I also got Streptocarpus 'Happy Time' plant and also Strep seeds: spinart x self and Bristol's agitated eel x self.
Two different Kohleria: Red Rider and Manchu (I have to go to stickys and read up on them). Will plant them on Monday.
I also learned how to pack plants so they stay safe. Nancy, you are the world's best packer. What a great job you did. You should make a video teaching us how to do it. You are 100% better than anyone I've ordered from.
The strep seeds and kohleria will have to wait until I come back on Monday. I'm so glad the box came today. Otherwise it would be sitting here until Monday. My DH wouldn't know what to do with it. I'm flying out tomorrow morning to Staten Island,NY for my granddaughter's bridal shower. She is the first grandchild to get married.
I'm sorry to be rambling, but I'm so excited. My box will go out on Tuesday. I'm sorry I couldn't mail it sooner. In a way it's good, because I now know how to pack. LOL
Nancy, thanks again and again and again for such a wonderful collection of gessies.
Will take pictures when I come back. My camers is packed and ready to fly.

I got my box from Bonnie!! It's wonderful! Lots of super Gessies I didn't have, and one I've looked for a long time - Chirita gemella! I don't have them in front of me right now and can't remember all the names, but I'll post names and pictures later.

Bonnie, you outdid yourself with your trade! Rain was so excited and named every single thing (LOL)

Since we don't tell people who we are sending to, it just dawned on me that not only have I not sent my package yet, but I haven't been to the post office since this past Tuesday........hope I didn't leave something there all week and weekend. These gas prices make me have to have a reason to go all the way to town.............*plants are a good reason.......

Gail - doesn't the mailman leave a slip if you have a box? . . . Of course, I don't remember seeing a mailbox, so I don't know how that works down there, LOL!!!

How's your weather? I'm going to try to stay awake as long as I can, so I can watch the weather . . .

Well Jim your swap buddy got her's yesterday! LOL I was packed up and heading out of town but I hit the Post Office last thing and there was this big box with "Secret Swap" written on it. So of course I had to run right back home and open it up. All I can say is that I am still in SHOCK as I sit here on my laptop in the hotel room!!!

WOWSERS!!! Will you just check out what I pulled from that box...and pulled.....and pulled!!! Strep leaves in amounts and with names to make my heart go pitty pat for a good long time! LOL And four Sinningias with unique names and a set of variegated AV leaves to die for!

I don't have the names here with me ........ as it was I was WAY later leaving town than I had planned!! LOL But it was a fabulous reason to be late!

So a huge THANK YOU Jim!!!!!!!! I plan to do this bounty justice and to enjoy beautiful and wonderful additions to my collection and also to have extras to share here next year!!! Everybody send your strep leaf growing vibes my way so I can do this!!!!

What a wonderful package you got, Brenda................I haven't sent out my secret package yet but will do it on Monday.. We spent the week getting ready for Ike and Ike happened somewhere else. My brother just called to say he would come down and take off the wood on the windows and doors. I asked him to put that at the bottom of his 'to do' list. I love sleeping wiht the house all closed up..................

I'm glad your save and sound Gail and I know it was a lot of work preparing but so wise to do so!!

I'm so excited over these leaves and the sinningia cuttings it's not funny! LOL A little worried but I did really well last fall growing leaves so I have high hopes!

Jim if I ever post a picture of a plant you want a leaf from just say the word!!

I received a great box from Rox today. Rox Thank you very much for the plants, leaves wicking mix and pots, and instructions. I love them all . I received :AV leaves- Wranglers Buckeroo, Suncoast Calypso,Buckeye Country Lilac---- A Strep leaf "Guidelines"---Episcia "Teddy Bear"----Strep plant "Bristol's Very Berry", several cuttings of Streptacarpella-----2 sizes of sm white pots, a bag of wicking mix with yarn and very nice instructions for growing AV's. What a haul! I really appreciate the pots, and mix. I noticed your mix is alot lighter than mine. The only vermiculite we can find around here is "Stay Green" brand and it is very fine, about the same size as sand. Even your perlite was bigger pieces than what I can buy here. What is your recipe for the mix? Do you wick the leaf cuttings also? Is the streptacarpella purple blooming? Thanks for such great additions to my collection. Lou

Lou, I am so glad you liked everything. I hope I remembered right.....I think someone told me you were just getting started in Gessies. I didn't know how new you were, so if you don't need the written material just toss it. : )
The large perlite is called Sponge Rok. I don't think I've ever seen it sold in any stores, but you can order it.

Potting soils are something we all have our own opinions about. Most people make up their own recipes over time depending on their growing conditions. The best thing is to experiment around and use whatever works best for you.

I buy a lot of my supplies from Teas Nursery in Texas. I've ordered a half dozen times from them and have always been satisfied with their service. They sell all sizes perlite, vermiculite, and charcoal. They also carry the small round white pots.

I'm sure there are lots of other places, I like Teas cause I can get everything in one place.

The Streptocarpella is a noid. It's really taken off since the weather cooled off. As always with any new plants you need to isolate them. It's growing in a basket underneath a tree.

Just got back last night from NY. I went to my granddaughter's bridal shower. My box went out today.
I almost did away with my DH this morning. He was supposed water and watch my little newbies and he totally forgot. I had to replace some things for the swap. So sorry.

LOL..Eileen I can relate..my DH would be the same way.I am afraid to even be away a few days..lol..I have visions of coming home to a houseful of brown dead plants..

My secret friend's box went out on Monday. she/he should be getting it today.

I didn't have a lot to send as most of my plants are still babies but, as soon as i get my leaf cuttings ready,. i will send you another box.

I'm packing my secret friend's box right now. It will go out today. I'm SO sorry for taking so long. I'm just slow, no matter how fast I try to go!

My box is going out this morning--I apologize, I had noooo electricity for a few days, and had to deal with part of my roof on the lawn, and cleaning out a really yucky refrig and freezer. I put in extra goodies to make up for it.
