OMG, Laurel - I haven't been back to this thread for a week (sick puppy dog and lots of different vet visits, along with lots of rain keeping me from using the internet!) and I am just in AWE of your beautiful nuido! You are sitting on a gold mine of talent! Man, if you can't buy a few new chimblys for Maypop, by selling these masterpieces, something is terribly wrong!! But then, I know you would find it terribly difficult to part permanently with such treasures. Exquisitely beautiful! And I, too, would love to watch you do this some day! RU at Maypop???? LOL

And yes, I'll gladly cater your 99th, Laurel. That cake was one of my endeavors and it was pretty yummy, if I do say so myself. (three - layer dark chocolate fudge with custard between the layers and coconut frosting (per request). I also did a fishlips flower pot for the guest of honor, but forgot to take a photo of it before giving it to her. It was a fun party at a beautiful golf course owned by one guest's late husband (the other 99-year old friend whom we lost in March) The outside deck has a gorgeous view and it was a lovely, sentimental spot for the gathering and a perfect day.

Oh, Harper - how very cool that we will see you on your birthday eve at Candyce's! Oh, Happy, Happy!!!! Is Sam coming with you???

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Booo, I'll miss seeing Harper on her Birthday eve! Do you think you're so sick of it being Your Birthday all year that it will be anti-climatic? Will we keep it going for another year? Why not?

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Oh, yes, Carrie! Why stop now???? Harper is one in a million and we should celebrate her year-around!!

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

And we're getting so good at it! (Happy Birthday Harper!)

Is Molly OK?

Happy birthday, Harper!

Hi Candyce. She has been through it in the last couple of weeks. We almost lost her and sought out a vet to end her suffering. The only vet who could see us happened to have an amazing new technology for diagnosing allergies, and after 4 hours of painless treatment, we walked out of there with a very different situation. She is still a pretty sick little girl internally (3 strains of fungal and one strain of bacterial infection from a reaction to prednisone, etc.) and the fungal infection has resulted in horrible sores all over her body that burn and itch and make her just miserable. In 10 days we have come a very long way in helping her with that too. The diagnostic tool revealed that she had developed a toxic reaction to most of her food and all of her medicines. (She's allergic to chicken and beef, but not to duck and turkey) so we have changed what she is eating within the Wellness family of food, and he changed her meds to a combination of things her body can tolerate, and it was a pretty miraculous thing to observe. Her thyroid, pituitary gland, liver and lymph nodes have been affected, and we have to address those problems, but she is a different dog today. We had not had much sleep through this, but we have now had a few nights of sleeping all night. She is still such a little trooper and we are so relieved to still have her and to see her tail wag again and to have her eyes bright again. Fortunately, there is a vet with this technology only an hour and a half from us in Fla. If anyone has a dog with chronic skin problems or other "undiagnosed" illnesses, this may be helpful to consider. There are around 20 vets in the country that have this German technology. We were just so fortunate to be led in this direction without even knowing it was available. We will see our regular vet today for him to see how she has turned around.

That's an amazing story, Louise!! My poor Molly! Thank goodness for that vet, and for the training that the vet received so that Molly's condition could be recognized just in the nick of time!

Would you please give her an extra hug and let her know that it's from Miss 'M' and me? And please keep me posted, OK?

Milton, MA(Zone 6a)

Wow, Louise, what a story, and thank goodness the vet existed!

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

It's October and you know what that means. It means we're getting REAL close. Happy pre-birthday, Harper!!!

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Will do, Candyce! Today she is having a "not so good" day and has had her first nausea. The vet told us she would have some sickness when the fungus starts to die off inside her. Poor baby....but she is such a trooper. I'm sure your good wishes will keep her going! Thanks!

Thanks, Jan. She sees the new vet tomorrow, so I'm hoping she'll continue to improve. She had a pretty good day today.

Oh, Louise! I feel so bad for Molly, but I'm happy you found that special vet to help her out. What a godsend!

Yup, it's getting close. My DS's birthday is tomorrow. He's turning 13.

Salem Cnty, NJ(Zone 7b)

OHHH 13 and all those hormones that start to go crazy. I had 4 boys - lol Happy Birthday to your DS.

How's Molly doing?

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Harper - please send a very special birthday wish to DS from me. 13 is a big one. Happy Hormones!!! LOL

Jan - Molly is making progress. The best news was that her adrenal glands are functioning and looking pretty good. That was a very big concern. The thyroid and liver are the biggest concerns now. Her skin condition is improving and she is getting through the nights better for the most part. Yesterday she seemed very depressed, but today she is back to herself. I think she was missing Hank while he was in the Adirondacks. Once she realized he was coming back, she seemed to snap out of it. It could have been the treatments she had on Friday, but at the moment she is resting comfortably and tonight is looking good for some sleep! The new vet is pretty impressive!

Questa, NM(Zone 5b)

Thanks Jan and Louise! He was very sentimental and affectionate tonight.

Louise, I'm glad to hear of Molly's progress. How old is she?

Southwest , NH(Zone 5b)

Molly is 15 and a half, Harper. She had her best night yet last night....Yay! How sweet to hear about your evening with DS. Happy Birthday to him and almost HBD to you!!
