I certainly will.

Nance, that place looks fun. You got some good pictures there. I don't know what that wild plant is either, but it's interesting. That's the kind of places I like hiking to.

Sheesh!
I have to get out more!
I love all of the rock photos and the stories that they tell.

From my hike today in Harriman Park. Now this is a glacial erratic! It's known as Irish Potato (I'm really impressed if it was brought over) and could certainly feed the masses. I joked that the glaciers moved it three feet.

Another view shows how pieces of it fell away as slabs over the years due to freezing / thawing.

Entrance to a former mansion - demolished in 1959. Was the home of a woman involved with the Girl Scouts in some way.

This wall formed a semi-circle around the property and seemed to go on forever. Not sure of the length.

Love the enteance way, like to have that for my garden! Don't want much do I?

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

We think that it was a garden entry.

Halifax, MA(Zone 6a)

Now that Irish Potato is one big rock, Victor! Love the entryway also, and the stone wall with all that beautiful moss. Very nice!

What a great day for a hike!

I too, want that entryway with moss, please.

Denville, NJ(Zone 6b)

nice shots Victor... you certainly had a good day for it

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Thanks. It really was beautiful.

Pepperell, MA(Zone 6a)

really liked the wall shots. was it dry stack or w/concrete - i'm thinking conrete based on the moss on top although i could not make any out.

ok maybe i use my extra stone on building up the wall around the vegy garden

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

Not sure Bill. The arch stone was mortared but I did not look closely at the wall. Based on other walls in the park, I would guess dry.

Very nice, Victor! I want that stone entrance too!!! Is that an Irish-Italian-American standing in front of that potato????? LOL

Lower Hudson Valley, NY(Zone 6b)

No - he's my friend and hike leader. His last name is Smith and traces his family in America back to the early 1700's!

Here is a part of our stone wall at the point where our driveway breaks the wall.

Thanks, Louise. There is nothing to show scale there, but that boulder is about ten feet high and 15 feet wide.
