Clarification on DG "Member" status

I have some long ago promised Kosteletzkya virginica seeds for a DG Member. I notice on that Member's Home Page that it only shows the date the member signed up, not whether they are still active on DG. Is this the usual way the member page is displayed, or does no "signed up through (date)" mean they are not active? I would just like to know so that I can determine if D-mail will reach the Member. I have the postal mailing address, but would like to confirm by D-mail that the Member still wants the seeds.

While typing this, I realized that I could go to the Member's Home Page and check "posts member has made" or "threads member has started" to see if any are recent, but I know some Members are not the daily (or hourly!) DG junkies that some of the rest of us are.

It may be technically too much trouble, but if Dave could include something on the Member's Home Page that would show "last signed on (date)," that would help give a clue as to whether Members are still active or in limbo.

Dmail is available to members and subscribers so they can check it either way. But that wouldn't tell you if they are checking in or not so if they don't respond you don't know if they have signed in to see it.

If they don't pick up their dmail within a few days it's automatically sent to their email address. Providing that the email address they gave when they signed up on DG is still their current one, they will get it that way.

I think if it just shows a signed up date it means they aren't a paid subscriber. Sometimes folks sign up and visit a couple of forums and don't come back for awhile. Hopefully they will respond to you once they receive the d-mail from admin at their home e-address.

Thanks, Joan and all. I had forgotten about the E-mail reminders sent to the address provided upon sign-up on DG (I get the E-mail reminders when I leave a message unanswered in my D-mail for a few days). I will send a D-mail and see if I get a reply.

I suppose the real lesson is not to take two years to satisfy a SASE seed request, but that is about par for me. Actually, I did send the seeds once along with a small K.virginica plant as a bonus, but the package got damaged on the way and, of course, the seeds spilled out.

We've tried agitating every so often for a feature that would show if somebody was active on the site... I realize it's a privacy issue and that people don't necessarily need to know if somebody has logged on in the last 5 minutes or the last 24 hours, but it would be nice if there were a way to check to see if they'd stopped by within the last week or month, for example.

If you're really having trouble contacting somebody, you could probably ask admin to check to see if they are still an active member.

My D-mail got through, and all is well. I will be send K. virginica seeds as they continue to ripen on my 8 ft tall plant! Thanks, all, for your help.
