Ah thanks for clarifying!!
Birds & Flowers
Very pretty pictures all!
Such pretty photos everyone!!
Wow, Kennedy. How nice to see Australian birds. I've never seen the Crescent Honeyeater and we have Western, rather than Eastern Spinebills in W.A.. There are Little Wattlebirds in and around Perth (and undoubtedly elsewhere in the state), but never see them where we are. Love your photos, especially the one in the Banksia.
This is a photo I took a few weeks ago in King's Park of a Red Wattlebird on a Menzies Banksia flower, which I posted on the bird watching "daily pics". These birds are real favourites of mine.
Spectacular birds and flowers you have there.
Thanks, GP. Everyone's birds are just so gorgeous and the beauty of DsG is that we get to see birds that people encounter on a daily basis, in their local area, from all over the world. Love it. This is a another shot of a Red Wattlebird in typical pose. I'd love to see one of the Tasmanian Wattlebirds that Kennedy referred to - I guess I'll have to visit Tasmania for that.
Beautiful pic!
Fantastic shots Margaret!
That is one red flower, Pelle,
Hey Gary, it's like a little easter egg hunt out there! That just cracks me up!
Pelle, do you have your lobelia in sun or shade? I tried it before with no luck but could never figure out if in my zone it should have been in sun or shade!
Its in full all day sun nanny. They are like daylilies-lots of sun, lots of water.
Thats beautiful Linth!
linthicum, the tree looks like a Bkack Locust (Robinia pseudacacia): http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/75342/
Another great pic Linth!
Ken & Margaret, I always enjoy seeing Australian birds, nice photos.
Pell, I wish I could grow Cardinal Flowers here. I have tried several times. They only last as biannual here. Our seasons too short, they freeze still in flower the second season and die. They grew wild, in moist areas under alders, where I grew up in Michigan.
it's like a little easter egg hunt out there!
It's not really like an Easter egg hunt, because the Jay's watch where I put the peanuts an come to get them.
Linthicum, nice pictures. I really like the shot of the Gold Finch on the Sun Flowers.
Gary, Thats ashame they won't work for you; but its understandable seeing their a late bloomer. You seem to have plenty of color there though; the scenes are lovely.
Beautiful pics everyone!
Very nice nanny!
Your pet is a handsome boy Gary!
How much longer will they be with you?
You captured beautiful feather detail in this picture Pell.

Thanks Gary;I was a long ways away but had the lens maxed at 500mm.
good gravy! 500mm! Are you lifting weights to be able to handle your lens? ;)
LOL, no it was on the tripod.
Mrs_Ed, I have an ultra zoom no bigger than a standard 35mm camera. I can go from 35mm up to 420mm with a simple twist of the lens. You don't have to be a weight lifter any more, to get good telephoto pictures. There are even larger lens ultra zoom cameras today. Plus that with 10+ megapixels, I can crop to 1/9 of the original frame, and still have a clear sharp picture, if it was shot with good light conditions.
Geez, if only my lens was light... it weighs 4 pds.
I rarely ever lift it unless birds are so high up I can't see them even with the tripod extended to the highest point.
my new 70-300 zoom lens is actually lighter than my old 200mm metal/manual. However, I've been having lots of motion blur with it. Maybe because it is longer? So I must use the tripod or brace myself on something.
anyway. good job both of you.
Beautiful shots. The benefit of lenses of that weight is you'll never get bingo wings!
