queen of the night

(Zone 1)

Woo Hoo ... So glad I checked one more time before going to bed ... almost forgot!

I found two blooms opened ... so pretty, no fragrance but beautiful flower! Such a shame they are wilted and dead by daybreak!

My first ever bloom tonight. She is stunning. I did a time lapse movie (excuse the hand, needed for positioning. Hand is seven inches, for scale.). http://www.lachesys.com/wmv/epi.oxi.bloom.wmv

I feel like a proud parent. :)))

Yes, this is just a stunning flower. I'll be dragging Audrey II in and out for years to come. :)

Wow, Joegee ... that is a beautiful bloom! Is that Epiphyllum Oxypetalum "Queen of the Night"? Love the solid white flower ... was it fragrant? I can't wait for one of my E. Oxypetalum's to bloom!

The fragrance is hard to describe, but I found it was not sweet in a jasmine or gardenia sense. Up close the fragrance
was woodsy, not really a fragrance. Away from the flower it had a richness, and a spicyness. It was quite pleasant. It reminded me in an odd way of the fragrance of premium sun tanning oils.
