(((((((Clemencita)))))))))) It's good to 'see' you posting! Are your blooms finish blooming? Mine, the following evening, the 7 remainder blossoms opened up. Once again, neighbors were there to celebrate with us. For those that get to see them, good fortune is shared to them as well? I hope so.

queen of the night
My dear Kim, she is done for now but I have moe buds coming and good fortune to all right!!! I love yours!
I can't believe it...after all my drooling over ya'lls and whining about mine...guess what I spotted last night while watching the hummers? I bitty baby bud!!!!!!!!!!! I know I have "a while" to wait but as long as I get just one bloom before I have to bring her in...OMG I'm just beside myself....I've waited THREE years for this girl to do something for me!! I took pics - uploaded - then life got in the way...I'll post tonight of my new arrival...yipeee!!!
Wonderful!!!!!!
It must be blooming time for Epi's ... at least the Queen of the Night - E. Oxypetalum! I am really looking forward to mine getting big enough to bloom! I'm hoping next year!
Look forward to seeing pic's of y'alls blooms when they open!
Your plant is gorgeous! Thanks so much for sharing the progress!
Hi chantell, take a pic from the front please, can't wait for you to see her bloom!
Clem - do you mean from beneath the bloom - looking up?
sure Chantell, then we will know when she is ready to burst! can't wait
Ahhhh LOL....I "get it" now...little slow sometimes...ok...more then "some" times...
Congrats Chantell, the bud will curve up -- to give a shape of a Dutchman's Pipe. So it will get bigger and curlve up before it opens up. I've noticed the flower when ready will open up several hours after sundown, and promptly wilt a couple of hours before sun rises the following day.
Kim - thank you...will be interesting to see the progression "first hand" - I can't wait!!
NOTE: to any that don't have this plant already - I will be trimming her up before I bring her indoors
Chantell, if you trim her you will loose the old leaves and that is where the flowers come from the following year!
Thanks Clemen for sharing the tips. I trimmed off a few branches to share with neighbors a couple of weeks past. Hope they will do well for them. Now I'll keep my hands ...ugh, the pruner away from the rest of the NBC. :-)
Clem....my plant is HUGE - I meant the newer leaves...I'll try to take a pic of the whole plant then of the blooms tomorrow
OK Chantell, new leaves is ok and then I approve! LOL
Hi KIM
Whew....I feel better...God help me if I'm the cause of no blooms next year...nuf to make me cry...
lol
I love seeing thiese pics and reading the excitment of waiting for these to bloom. I have one but no buds yet. Everytime I read one of these threads it reminds me of that Dennis the Menace movie where Mr Willis waits soooo long to see this special flower bloom (its at night & invites people over and everything) then ends up missing it of course b/c of Dennis.
dawn
Ok...so I have a million pics of ALL the blooms that opened on mine and no time to post...maybe from work tomorrow...LOL You ALl were right though....great smell
Start checking before dark. They begin to show before dark.
You will know if it is going to open.
how sad Lin
I'm not giving up! I'm 60 years old and I'm bound and determined to see my own plant in bloom before I die! ^_^
lol, and I will waiting with you until it opens
Me too.
Aaah, I have heard that with the Epi Oxypetalum/"Queen of the Night"as well as others, the buds turn up right before opening, but with my Epi. hookeri/"Hookers Orchid Cactus" the buds seem to curve upwards from the beginning.
PLin Fl. You're absolutely correct. Mine is Epi Oxypetalum. Please post pix of your hookeri when she does show off her beauty.
I know I'm going to be so excited if I ever catch it with the blooms opened, I know I will remember to grab the camera to take pictures!
PLANTLADY GOOD CHECK YOUR BUDS!!!!!!!
Good nite Sandy
Sandy , Lin fell asleep again and we are all waiting!
Lazy. lazy
Alright Lin get going.
Sandy
I was looking through files on my computer tonight and found this ... interesting information regarding Epi's: http://www.theamateursdigest.com/epis.htm
I think I read here that my E. hookeri is not a scented Epi. :( I was hoping it would be fragrant!
