Once I click on an outside URL to see something someone has posted, then I cannot click on any other outside links. They don't work.
I can go to other forums and try these outside links and THEY don't work either. The photo files can be obtained over and over and are not affected by this gliche. It gets me so aggravated that I cannot see the link that someone posts after I've seen ONLY one link during a session at DG. I'm missing so much because this feature doesn't work!!!
What can I do to remedy this problem?

No outside links can be gotten after one link is seen ...
have run into this and thought it was MY problem - what I do is print the post - that way, I have the links and I often put that printout into my file for that particular topic/plant for future reference
I wonder if it's your popup blocker? Since the links always open in a new popup window the popup blocker could definitely be doing that, although why it always lets you open the first link I don't know. (the pictures don't open in a popup, so they wouldn't be affected) Often if you hold down the control key while clicking on a link that will temporarily override the popup blocker so you might see if that helps.
Ecrane3,
I will try holding down the control key and see in fact if it does work. I don't know if I have pop-up blockers and which pop-up blockers I have!! How do I figure out which ones I have? LOL
Jrwbirds,
Your idea will work if notthing else will work. Thanks.

Most browsers come with a popup blocker, I think you can find it under the tools menu where you set your preferences. But there are also other popup blockers, sometimes anti-virus or anti-spyware software will come with one, or if you have software from your internet provider it might have something too.
I'm not sure printing the post really helps either--all it'll show you for the hyperlink is the main website, it won't print out the exact address that the hyperlink was pointing to (for example, for a link to something here in Plant Files, it would just say "hyperlink@davesgarden.com", but you'd have no way of knowing what page within DG it was on). So for some things that might work OK if all you wanted was to know the website name, but for large websites if there was one particular place in it that has the info it's not as useful.
If you right click on the outside URL that someone has posted, you get an option to "Open
Link in New Window". That leaves your original DG page open. You might give that a try.

ecrane3 - you are correct - after I posted that note, I realized that I print posts for plant lists....duh
For all who helped with my problem and and for all who might have the same problem ... this is the follow-up. I got a neighbor to come over and help me with the problem trying to get the links that I couldn't get. He went through my computer and "toned down" the security so that things would not be blocked. Then he came to Dave's Garden and tried to get the results I had been getting. As it turned out, the links partially open at the top of the screen, (the ones that I didn't think I could get) but you have to scroll up, then right click on the link, then a pull-down menu appears and I have to click on "open a new tab" and then I can get the link.
Isn't that a heck of a note?LOL
