Chronic Uploading Problem

I don't know why but I seem to have a problem getting my postings past the preview stage. I will upload the picture (resized to medium) and it will show on the preview, but after I hit send it disappears. It doesn't happen everytime..maybe a few times a week. Anyone know what the problem is? Thanks for any help!

Probably the size of the file. Even resized, if you have a high-res image, the file size can be large enough to cause problems. If it happens again, try saving the image as a .jpg instead of a .gif and then upload it.

Hi Terry, Thank you for your response! I always save as a .jpg and had already posted an image of the same size but couldn't get the second one to go through.

If you still can't upload it, can you check the file size of the second one?

Hi Terry, I just tried again and it uploaded fine. I have it happen a few times a week and still don't know why.

I think when your file size is borderline being too large you'll find that sometimes it'll go through and sometimes it won't--and if you keep trying the same picture enough times it'll eventually go through. But if you try downsizing your pics a little bit then they should go through every time with no problem.

I just had it happen again with a 46 KB pic so I downsized it to a 34 KB and it still won't go through. When I hit send it takes me to the page where it says it has been posted but when I check the thread the post is not there. I am beginning to think it is not the pic size but maybe something else? Sorry to be a pain but I know it happens to others as well. If this is the way it is I can live with it...just curious more than anything. Thanks...Rose

Rose, what type of connection do you have? Dialup, DSL, high-speed cable, other? If the files aren't monsters (pixel-wise or ultra high-resolution), then connectivity is the next question that comes up, especially if this seems to be an ongoing, chronic problem.

Mondays are particularly busy for our site traffic (lots of weekly reports get run that day); other days usually see a pretty steady server load (it just depends on how many people are hopping on and off, looking at pictures, uploading photos, etc.)
