Danny, you should get your school interested in this monarch watch project!! While you're at it, tell them to plant a milkweed garden!

crud, I don't remember which one rose swan is. but it looks alot like cinderella. I got tons of seed off mine last yeaer, but none this year,

I'm pretty sure that's the name of it though.

Also I had ice ballet one year, and I swear it bloomed white, and then the next time it bloomed they all turned orange. weirdest thing. think they crossed with my tuberosa and turned orange?

Los Fresnos, TX(Zone 10a)

Cool! Thanks! Actually my aunt works at my school and she wanted to make a garden close to her room.

Los Fresnos, TX(Zone 10a)

Wow they crossed? What seeds do you have right now? I really want some. Do you want anything from my tradelist?

Los Fresnos, TX(Zone 10a)

Thank-you all. Does anyone else have other Milkweeds. I am really looking for California Milkweed, Asclepias Cancellata, Prairie Milkweed, Showy Milkweed, and all the others like Arizona Milkweed and the rest. If you have even just very little seeds or plants or roots or cuttings tell me through this topic. Thanks :-)
Danny

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

You can buy most of these at www.georgiavines.com

That way you 'll know for sure your gonna get the right seeds and won't get stiffed .

Have a good day!

Los Fresnos, TX(Zone 10a)

Thanks but that site is expensive. :-)

Los Fresnos, TX(Zone 10a)

Thank-you all for helping me. Does anyone else have any Milkweeds or know any info on them. Thanks in advance!
Danny

Danny, what are you doing? I offered you seeds for postage, and you wouldn't pay for the postage onthem because you don't wan tto get ripped off, Thinking I 'd not send them to you. yet you continue to ask for seeds. I'm dumbfounded.

I sent this private to you and you still don't get it. Most folks are quite willing to send seeds, but would rather not have to pay the postage for sending them also. That is up to you to reemburse them for postage.

Most times, I send seeds or plants for postage, if I 'mwell use to that person I won't ask them to pay for the plants/seeds until they arrive to their destination, but if I don't know you and your brand new to daves, I ask for postage up front, I did tell you that I would ship them and then give you exact charges for you to send the money back to me.

yet you still think your going to get ripped off.

I understand your thinking of getting ripped off, i've been there myself. well, you know, I tried, and I'm not willing to send them and pay for the postage on them.

I hope you find someone that will send them to you and will be willing to pay the postage as well.

One other thing, there is an excellent feedback system here for leaving negative feedback for folks who don't receive their trades or don't pay for postage. You should check it out sometimes, maybe you'll feel more at ease about asking for seeds for postage.

Los Fresnos, TX(Zone 10a)

Okay thanks for your help. I understand.

Oh, Danny, I see from another thread that you are a junior high student. I did not realize that, and perhaps others did not either.

Are you collecting the MW and other butterfly garden seeds for a school project? It looks like you are learning hybridizing too.

So I wonder if you could tell us a little more about your goals?... That might help clear up some questions about your requests for so many Milkweeds.

Thanks a lot. t.

Los Fresnos, TX(Zone 10a)

I can tell you through D-mail be cause I am not allowed in the disscoussion forums because I am not 13.

Tucson, AZ(Zone 9a)

I'm curious, too. You have quite an interest in milkweeds.

Cincinnati (Anderson, OH(Zone 6a)

Oh, I see. I didn't know kids younger than 13 were not allowed to post. Thanks.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

But Danny, you are posting here....You could share goals without giving out specifics or personal information.

Example....
I want to eradicate the non-native invasive plants in my garden and replace them with Texas native and endemic plants, with a emphasis on host plants for butterflies.

So....what are you shooting for Danny with all of the Milkweed?

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

He's not suppose to be posting, as he has stated. He shouldn't even be dmailing folks.

He's been asked to leave by the admin because he's not old enough to be a member of Daves. It's not wise for us to encourage his conversations by asking him questions, he's not allowed to answer.

He'll be back when he's older,
Not trying to be mean, but These are the rules here on Daves garden.

He may not be posting any longer, due to his age. He mentioned on another thread, that he was going to turn his acct over to someone else.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

He told me he wants to have a "milkweed heaven" for the Monarchs when they arrive in October. Cute.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Oh...I guess I didn't pick up on the age for ALL forums. I just thought it was to post on certain forums. I guess with no young people around me, I never think about that!
Sorry Danny....I didn't mean to encourage your illegal posting.

Tucson, AZ(Zone 9a)

I think it's wonderful that he is so interested, and he seems to be very intellegent, however...with what he was requesting, he really should have had an adult to supervise him. With that, he could have had a wonderful experience and had a lot of good help from all of us. I wish him the best with this :)

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Maybe he does have supervision. I know he said his parents loved that he was trading seeds. (Danny Dmail me if you are reading this and I'll post your replies).

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I dmailed him before how to edit, when he posted his address in a post, VERY glad I did now after finding out his age.
I guess that is why he was in such a rush to find seeds, knowing that he may get removed at any time. Well I wish him well in his quest to help the Monarchs.

edited ....sorry cross posted with you.

Ah, I thought the rush was to get everything blooming before the monarchs arrived. That and the exuberance of youth! Ah to have that energy.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

JMO...He only had a two month membership...a hit and run artist.

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

Danny is 12.

When we discovered this, it was explained that he cannot post here at DG until he is older. He has agreed to leave, and grow up some.

He only has a 2 month subscription, that is true, but he has agreed to wait a couple of years, before trying this again. He has a real love for plants and gardening, but lacks the maturity to participate here.

We have had several young gardeners make monumental contributions to DG over the years. Evert and Paulwhwest were only 14 when they joined and began to contribute, so we are not 'anti-kid', but 12 is just too young to be here unattended.

Why don't we let this thread slip on off into DG history, and let Danny return to being a 12 year old for awhile. I think that we can help him grow up best, by giving him a friendly send off, and good gardening wishes.

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Well put Melody.
