New threads list?

(Laura) Olympia, WA(Zone 8a)

Could a new threads section be added? I was thinking something like "The latest posts at DG" but for new threads only. It's sometimes hard to tell if a thread is new. I go through all my forums at least once a day looking for new threads, but it would be way easier if I could just look at a list of threads added that day.

That's a good idea. I often miss a new thread in my favourite forums because I rely so much on my Thread Watcher...I go right to the thread without checking the actual forum while I'm there...LOL

If you have your favorite forums listed on your home page, the ones with new posts will be highlighted at the top of the list!

New posts, yes...but not new threads that have been started.

There are so many "daily" threads that begin anew each day, this
could become a mess to keep track of.

GrammysGardenAZ - I do go through my favorite forums daily. That's why I want this, I'm tired of going to a forum because it has a new post only to find that it's one I've looked at a 50+ times already and I'm not interested in.

june_nmexico - "There are so many "daily" threads that begin anew each day, this could become a mess to keep track of." is that any different then what you get on "The latest posts at DG" there would actually be less entries to keep track of.

Zhinu - Ah, I see your point.

I've often longed for a choice of Watch Thread, Unwatch Thread and Ignore Thread.
That would give me the option of monitoring an interesting forum but being able to ignore threads
that are not of any interest to me.

I could see that as a solution as well. But, I think it would need to be a check box or it would be to time consuming to be useful.

There is a watch thread and unwatch thread options. If you go to home at the bottom of your watched forums are new posts. I don't know if this helps.

elsie - I know that. I am technically watching 346 threads, some of those have not been active for awhile. I have unwatched at least three today. I have 21 threads waiting on my Thread Watcher right now.

What I would like is to not have to muck through the threads I've already decided I wasn't interested in to see if there are any new threads I am interested in. I spend at least a 1/2 hour, more often an hour + all told, a day clicking on each on the forums with new post to see if there are new threads a day. If there was a list of new threads it would reduce that time significantly.

Zhinu there is a list of new threads under the list of forums you are watching. But I don't think that is what you are looking for. When I sent that post at 9:17 it showed up on the new threads.

The threads marked "new" when you go to a forum aren't necessarily new threads, they're anything that has a post that was made since the last time you looked at it, so there'll be a lot of old threads along with a few new ones. There's no function here now that does this, Dave would have to make something new.

elsie - That is "The latest posts at DG". I'm looking for "Newest threads on DG". Just a list of threads that were recently started. New post on old threads aren't an issue, that's what the "Thread watcher" is for.

ecrane3 - I know Dave would have to make something new. I'm just hoping it would be super easy to refunction the "The latest posts at DG" program to do this, and that others would be interested in this enough for him to make the effort.

Even a new column that had the date of the first post would probably work for me.

I know you knew that it would have to be something new--I was bringing it up because everyone else keeps suggesting things that were already here but they're not what you're looking for. Hopefully once people understand what you're looking for then there'll be others who will realize they'd like that too and chime in.

Sorry Zhinu I misunderstood. I read someone's post about wanting a watch and unwatch and well I responded.

elsie - Not a problem
