New Goat Owner 101 Questions

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

I started a thread on my 4 new goats. I thought some of you might like to have a look-see. I am not sure on their exact breeds. I am also not sure on ages, or really on anything much. But there are some cute pics! I am a goat newbie. We have 7 nubians that we have had for a few weeks. These guys are all pygmy of some sort, some are crossed with Toggenburg. Advice on helping us overcome the skittishness of the 3 as described in the thread would be great, and guesses on the breed of Pebbles too!

Here is my thread:

We bought a beautiful doe one time and we were very excited about getting her. She was a star milker w/ beautiful lines however...what a b_ _ _ _ h! Not with us but with everyone else in the barn. We ended up selling her after getting a set of twins from her. Too much ciaos. She would bite and ram the rest of the does-if you can't play well with others..

Wow, that would be awful for the other goats. Creates a lot of stress I am sure....

Sue that's how we're feeling about Bonnie and Milly though we keep wondering if they were separated would the remaining sister be better behaved. Bonnie is a proven mother but Milly has the bone and muscle mass you look for in a Boer doe so it's a tough choice.

Clare I posted on your thread about your goats.

Please see my other goat thread here: I think she might be pregnant and I know nothing about what to do.

This thread is getting pretty long. I'm sure anyone on dial-up will have difficulties opening it. Can we start a new thread?
