Wonderful start. Love the blue eye ring, too. Never knew they had them. The cardinal's beak is such a bold orange! Chippies and waxwings are two favorites, too.

Wonderful pics Mrs Ed!

Thanks for starting the new thread!

Margaret, I love that pic in the last thread of the Cockatoos on the swings!

The baby Mockingbirds in the last thread were so cute. We have a Blue Jay that comes down to the dry cat food by the front door and helps himself every day.

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Thanks for the new thread Marna..love the Dove and Cardinal!

Nice shots Burn and Nanny, I'm jealous of the Waxwing!

Margaret those Cockatoos on the last thread really cracked me up..what a sight!! LOL!

Those baby Mockers are adorable too!

GP..The Blue Jays have discovered that I keep the cat food in the chicken house...if I don't keep the door closed they have no problem helping themselves! They are such characters!!

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

It was overcast yesterday when I decided to take a walk to the upper brush pile just to see if there was any action. This is a giant brush pile and it provided protection for many birds this past winter. Shooting into the sky with lo light was not very productive but I was able to identify three birds anyway.

Here is an Indigo Bunting, Blue-gray Gnatcatcher and a Carolina Wren sharing space!

I have to tell you that when I lurk on this forum, I look at all of these fabulous photos and think they can't get any better, and then I see all these photos! Great shots everyone!

The Mockingbirds, Cockatoos, and the photo on this thread of the Bluebird taking a bath really made me smile! :-) Love the photo of the female Cardinal, too! Oh heck ... I like them all! How could you possibly pick a favorite?! LOL!

You all have an eagle eye when it comes to catching these winged beauties and some really good cameras! Keep em coming! :-)

Rose, I still say you live in a Birders paradise! Love your shot of the three birds together. Here are two pics of a young Cardinal.

Thanks everyone! I love the birds in our area and I forgot to mention that yesterday I saw a Ruby Crowned Kinglet in the tree line and this morning a Bewick's Wren chewed me out while I was pulling weeds in the yard!

Great shots Pelle!

Lovely Cardinal shots GP, Mrs. Ed and rntx!!

Whiteside County, IL(Zone 5a)

Bewick's wren, cool. Wasn't that some sort of thing you should report or something? Boy I'm remembering a post last winter or something. You are indeed in Bird Central!

That reminds me, if Rose Breasted Grosbeaks stopped here for a week or so in May, does that mean they'll come back through on fall migration???

Northumberland, United Kingdom(Zone 9a)

Fair chance of it. Mid to late September would probably be the best period. Though they do also breed throughout IL, so maybe the habitat where you are isn't too good for them.

I think I've filled my bird bath too high after seeing the level the blue bird is bathing in. Maybe that's why they are only using it for drinking from the side. Love the cardinals! I hope your special cardinal friend is doing well, Becky.

The Ozarks, MO(Zone 5b)

Mrs. Ed...I had a Bewick's all winter and have seen it twice since spring. It is a noisy little thing!! When I had it this winter it was a rare occurance and was reported. During the Great Backyard Bird Count there were only 2 in the state of Mo and one of them was mine! The Bewick's, Carolina and Mockingbird ate the 10,000 mealworms that the BB's never would eat!

OP...I fill the bird bath to the brim every morning and it is half empty by the end of the day. I miss most of the action because of where it is located. I have 2 others also but rarely see anyone bathing even though it has been very hot here!

Here is "my" handsome Bewick's Wren taken last March...I sure miss him (or her)!

OH yah, it was YOU that needed to report it back then. LOL.

I know how much you miss your house finches. They are all at my house. So here's a pair for you!

Love that Bewick's Wren - I've never seen one of those. Some great juvie bird shots on this thread too.

Here is a shot of some hummers I got today, as they were fighting each other around the feeder. I think the higher one is wondering where the lower one got to...

While the males chased each other around, the missus came in for a drink. Look at her little bitty feet!

Rose, that photo of the Bluebird having a bath is a beauty, as are all the others.
Pelle, the Blue Jay looks like it was giving you a good telling off.
Mrs Ed, those young Cardinals seem to love posing. Lovely shot.
nanny the woodpeckers are so cute. Lucky you. The Cardinal is gorgeous.
Nice pics, GP.
rntx22, the colour and light in the photo of the Cardinal is really beautiful.
