She's about to .....#8 : )

(AnjL) Fremont, CA(Zone 9b)

OMG! I have been sooo busy with the co-op and potting up plants and all, I havent paid much attention to my brug babies lately, just watering and makin sure all the leaves arent eaten off...quick glances etc.

then tonight, I got home and had meet with an adjuster to discuss a bad part of my sidewalk...and I happened to glance over at H. Gold and OMG!!!

the buds are HUGE! no blooms yet... I'll have to go take a pix...but they are sooo huge!

yeah! I may finally get some blooms! :oD

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Noodle paella, MmMm Good! Nitey Clemen. The storms were south of us... I was watching.. (and watering down the big brug pots for more stability in case there was wind).. Joyce! I LOVE your gardens and your settings! That BP is FANTABULUS ;) the pot, the caladiums! Nice bird bath and MW!! I think she's quite lovely. Now, can we talk about this budda belly buddy plant? Where? and How$$??? WOWEE!!! Joyce! You KNEW I'd want one! :oP

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Annmarie!!! Hurry!! I wanna see!

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

Ok, Angl, I'm casting a spell, can't have blooms till I have blooms.!!!

I was thinking about the cutting thing just here, but if that's not a good idea, ya''ll know more about it than I do. And we could do other cuttings too, don't you think? I probably won't have many brug cuttings either, unless I climb a fence and steal some. But living in Texas, I might get shot!!!

So, t shirts and cuttings. How do we do that? I'll do whatever you want me to. Close to fall, or in the fall?

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Clemie... just send those leftovers my way.. looks good!!
Joyce...oh your gardens are beautiful!! One day I hope I'll be able to share some pics.. but mine won't ever look that good!! I never think to put my pot plants in or around the flower beds.. Ty for an idea!!
yay.. anjl!! I know you are excited!!
Nite Kim and clem and whoever is going the zzzzzzzzzzzzz!!
Lorraine.. yeah.. I want to see you hop that fence..hehe I will do whatever the group wants... BUT I will say BIG boxes ship almost as cheap.. IF we have enough to fill them.. could be other plants.. and wondering if spring might be better?? You know me and my mouth..LOL

TTYL!!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.

AuntB, A friend gave me Buddy Belly so I have not idea about anything on it.
It gave me two seeds and is setting more. You have to put something over the seed pods because they explode them out and you can't find them. That is about all I know, except the belly will get bigger....LOL how I know that!

My wish just one time is to look out over the garden and not have any plants waiting to be planted, hose put up, tools up, and mulch down. Even in the snow I don't think I get that picture! LOL..Everytime I get ready to take a picture I have to pick the direction of the shot or everyone will see all the "stuff" LOL.

One thing about the garden I have way too much room to plant! LOL

No rain here tonight but the city below me is getting pelted..

nite all

nite all

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Anjl? A pic? (Don't listen to Lorraine) lol Ladies, ehem! Hotties, we'll put our heads together to come up with something by way of a swap or trade, I would have more cuttings available in fall and I'd give 5 Versi's for 1 Peanut, etc.. I like many many different plants and big boxes, too! Oh goodness, the time.. Nite all. Tomorrow is a new day.

Morning hotties! Bonnie that dish looks really good and no matter if you cooked the sauce first it will cook. I only cook it long enough to heat it and blend it anyway. Clemen, I LOVE paella in any form! lol I miss you guys but perhaps I will catch up with you later before work. Then I am off thursday, friday. I work at a placea that makes medicine vials and I am opening a dog grooming shop in town, so I will be working there on my days off soon. I want to do it full time when I build up my clientele. Look what was greeting me when I got home. My first hardy hibiscus flower! This one I got as a cutting NOID from a friend. Did not even know what color it would be. Planted the tiny cutting in fall of 06 and it finally bloomed!

That flower is so lovely! It is not quite wide open yet, but I am going to bed soon. The camera really did not capture all the pink shades in the white areas of the flower. I am really happy with that flower. My friend ordered a mixed hardy hibiscus lot from somewhere (not marked in variety) and my little stick was the only one that made it. All of hers did not make it through the winter. It grew a little last year to about 3 feet high. This year there are three stems about 5 feet high and loaded with buds. If anyone knows the variety help me out!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

I have and am participating in those random plant swaps and I love them. On the ones I did everyone signed up, then one person assigned the partner and you sent your box. You could post what you didn't want, like some people just don't have room for tropicals if you live in a cold state, or some people don't want things that are invasive, or if you are overflowing with a particular flower you may not want more, or you have no shade, or no sun.

In my case I have 3 acres around the house and another at least 10 more acres, if I were completely nuts.....let's see where do I fall in this theory...

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

lavender, Love the blooms. I have a hardy white hibiscus but mine is a shorty. It won't get over about 2 feet tall if I remember correctly. Instead of dark green leaves, these leaves seem alot yellower. It is an odd little thing.

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Lavender, It looks like Hibiscus Luna Pink Swirl to me. I have tons of HH but this is one I just started from seed this year so I don't have a pic. If anyone that wants cutting or seeds let me know.

Good morning everyone,
I've been absent for a while, instead of having beautiful blooms to show off... stormy weather hits, and I woke up to this broken brugmansia lying on the yard this morning. Whoa!!! This is a 1-year old seedling of a noid Versi color. I was so hoping to see
what's the unknown color is going to turn out this year.....but hope to salvage this into
cuttings and see what will happen next.

Bonnie, your blooms on the header is gorgeous! Hibiscus are lovely everyone!

You can save them. Please pot them up right away, and just keep them watered. they will root.

Hello everyone, Lightning got my "Puter" on the 9th, and believe me it's been a long two weeks. I don't think I'll ever catch up with all that's posted in the last 2 weeks. So good to be back and see all the excitement here. Love all the blooms, and the T-shirt idea.
Faye

(Cathy), MO

Hi Faye and welcome back! Speaking of t shirts.....has anyone come up with any new ideas??

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

AW, Kimbob, so sorry. I would strip most of the leaves from one and root it big. You still have the bloom tips, and you're in AL, I bet it has time to recover and bloom, yet this season, Kim. So, was there any future bloom tips left on the potted part? Or was this in the ground? That's heart-breaking... ((((Kimbob)))))
Louise, I wish you all the best on your new grooming business, I hope you work yourself right into full-time self employment... no more working nights unless you want to. Your hib will probably darken as it blooms more. You can feed them, I have fed mine sporadically throughout the growing season.. I just dump a TBS or so of 20-20-20 around the base and water it in. I started a red one from seed in spring one year, planted it out in the fall and it bloomed the next spring. Joyce, was your shorty in a lot of sun? (and I guess that leaves you not completely nuts, cause you haven't filled up the 3 acres, yet lol) I had one like Louise's bloom with lighter green leaves, I don't think I had it in enough sun. The plant and the blooms got smaller each year and last year it didn't come back in Spring. These hardy hibiscus are not the same as Hibiscus Rosasensis (Rose of Sharon).. ROS will get huge if left untamed. Thanks for the input on our swap, Joyce, I know I already have plants promised for individuals for later in the season. For instance: I really want a budda belly plant. I would trade a lot for it, special brugs, hosta's, prized EE's... Maybe we could each post a list of our wants and extreme "NO, absolutely don't wants" Or, we can just let our trading go on "behind" the scenes. Everyone makes individual private trades, but I'm not above begging, publicly, either. I've d-mailed some of you hotties about trading for a particular plant and I've asked DG'ers I don't know as well as Hotties, for trades... everyone is so willing to share if it is at all possible. Should we maybe start a new Hottie Swap Want list thread in addition to our "She's about to.....#8" thread? Do we have ANY hotties with NO brugs? That would just not be right. We cannot and will not stand for that! I mean I COULD 1st overnight Fed Ex an emergency cutting/plant/rooting cutting of some kind of brug, if one of us doesn't have any!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Faye!! Welcome Home, Hottie!! We're so happy you are back online with us!! Thanks for letting Cat know to pass on the message. That is very considerate of you, cause you know we would have been very worried if you just dropped off. Yes, we can fill up a thread in a day or 2 tops, sometimes...have you got caught up, yet? Chatterbox Hottie's, we are! lol How have your brugs done in 2 weeks? Hi Cat, I think the single brug bloom below our "logo", (whatever that is) would look good. Simple, nothing to figure out so people won't stare at your chest very long.. lol

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Good morning hotties, busy busy this morning, but needed to say hello.
So sorry Kimbo about your plant, you made me cry, I hate when that happens! Clemen

(Cathy), MO

But Bonnie, what about those of us who might WANT people staring at their chest??? LOL

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Hmmm, maybe 2 sizes of brug blooms?? How about a black t-shirt with HOT pink writing and brug? That would would make the ta ta starers linger... (Cat! lol)

Central, AL(Zone 7b)

Cat! ROFL, no comment from me. lol, lol.

Clemen, it's gonna be alright, last year same thing happened to one of my inground brugs, I rooted the broken branch and it finally bloomed for me by nov.

Bonnie, that was a multi-branches brugs, so yes there are other healthy branches left, so it may bloom later in the season.

I promise I an't going to be brugless. lol. In fact I've several that are 'fixin to....' like this one of 'GreenBank' I think;

ooops editted for typos.

Morning hottie sis's!!
Faye soo glad you are back home.... &^$$..I know what it's like with no puter... just like withdrawels.. right ?? hehe
OH Kimbob... that is sooo sad.. but Bonnie is right .. make you a big ol plant off of it.. and you might could start a few babies too!!
Louise... here's hoping you multitudes of success with your grooming business!! If you were closer I'd bring my lil Pom to you!! She has a bunch of "knots" of hair.. I have been a bad Momma lately, and haven't been brushing here near as much!
Bonnie..you feeling better today?? I hope so.. heck I am game for anything.. I just suggested the BIG box.. for the shipping costs... and it is just like Christmas morn when you are opening that big box!!.. well like when I was a kid!!..LOL I agree on the lists of No Nos.. surely that wouldn't hurt anyones feelings...and another thread would be better.. we get to chatting and I forget!! See... we could have our own mini RU.. and never leave the house.. but still have lil pieces of each of us in our yards!!??..YAY!!
Well was it Friday.. all of YOU had till ya'll unveil the new and improved Hot Pink Hottie T-shirt?? I am getting excited to see what ya'll talented girlies come up with!!
Clemie.. don't cry.. it'll mess up you lil pretty face!!

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Dancing around the house acting totally silly. The surgeon told DH "No Surgery" but he has this big, clumsy cast he has to wear for 4-6 weeks and still only one-handed work. Tee hee, his manager ran out of things for him to do at the paint shop, sooo, I volunteered to let him spray paint 50 plant markers I just bought. Too funny. His manager went for it immediately. So, I'm getting my honey-do chores done out of this. LOL... now that's the way to go. Have his boss tell him to do them....

I may be later than Friday on my T-shirt design. I've got it started but don't know if I will have enough hours to finish what I want... and this is for everyone, not just for RU goers. I liked the idea of making it an iron on, that would keep the shipping costs way down for us. Everyone could buy their own shirt and do the iron on and then decorate it individually. It would be the same print but personalized by each of us... hmmmm. :)) Let's see I can see sequins on Ms. Clem, diamonds on Kimbob, Kimarj would cover hers all over with flowers and AuntB's would have the marbles attached, tee, hee (just had to bring that up!)

Oh, Kimbob, sometimes the weather really hurts us. I am so sorry!

Back in a minute, I forget to look up that painted stain glass for Lav. Peg

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

And where'd y'all get the little bottles of Bailey's? Can't you see it?!!

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Okay, the link did not work, so I'm editing it out. Look under Trash to Treasure from Gordo on June 6.

Lav, here is the link, I hope, for the painted stained glass windows. It was started by Gordo, another brugger and even has the instructions on where to order the paints.

There is also several other pictures that others have done under the stained glass forum..

Now, it's nap time for this hottie.. and it is going to be hot.. They are predicting 103 this weekend. Sizzle, sizzle. Peg

Midwest City, OK(Zone 7b)

Okay, Doe, I might could get the little airline bottles, but they would probably be empty, so that's no fun! You want that on your T-shirt?? :))

(Audrey) Dyersburg, TN(Zone 7a)

Better not!!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Peg that is the greatest news! No surgery AND orders to work on the honey-do list! Whew! Kim, thought you lost your whole tree! Oh, I'd like to see pics of the Greenbank... is it finicky about direct sun like Snowbank? Audrey, where's the Bailey's, we can see it either?!

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

Lawdy...Lawdy... it don't matter what is on mine... they have nothing to "see" on my chest area.. . something "flashy" might get their attention..LOL.. no Bailey's though..please.. since I am a TEA.. tottler..hehe
Peg...I am sooo glad DH didn't have to have the surgery!!! The cast is bad enough though.. especially with this heat.. it'll drive him crazy!! I used the end on a flyswatter.. to "scratch the itch"!! Ohhhh that felt sooo good!!...hehe Oh Peg.. stained glas?? Pa lease... don't enable me with another addiction.. I love that stuff!! I got paints a few yrs. back..BUT I just haven't put if high up on my priority list.. bet the paint isn't any good too..

Where's everybody at?? Too hot to be outside.. even though that is where I am headed...

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Oh Peg I am so happy your hubby does not have to have surgery!! Isn't the luna series of hibs short? 2-3 feet? Perhaps it is the Southern Belle series, they are 5-6 feet. The pics of Dicso Belle look like it but online it says they are again short, so I am thinking the older cultivar series Southern Belle. No matter it is pretty. Bonnie your pic does look the same. Oh gosh I am tired, I hate nights. (we rotate). Just have to get through tonight then two days off! We work twelve hour shifts with two on and two off and every other three day weekend off. Can't beat the time off though! I used to groom dogs before I moved to podunk and there were no grooming shops around. Went to school for that and vet tech. We live near Syracuse which is a much larger town with 1,600 or so and many smaller surrounding towns like this one.
Seems like it cannot make up it's mind to be cloudy or clear today.
Peg I cannot see that link. Is it just me?

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

ok duh I see where you changed it Peg, still not awake I guess.

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Yippie, Meg is back and no surgery, I was praying for good news from you. So glad and doing the happy dance over here too, lol!
And all of you cracking me up with the t-shirts, can't wait to see what we come up with!

Look at my datura today, it rained so hard and it lost two buds, grrrrrrr, but oh well she is full of buds and blooms!

Gotta go make dinner now,see you all tonight, Clemen

Thumbnail by Clemen
NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Oh, Louise, I've got to work, checked in on the hotties (and you), got lunch and trying to leave early, and you've gotten home, slept and are getting ready to go back to work..... I tried to work the 3rd shift at Frito Lay over 30 years ago, I just could not sleep during the day. Do you do 12 hr shifts on days, too? Is your grooming shop in Syracuse, then? Sorry for all the ???, guess a hottie has to know... lol PEG, don't stay out too long, it's dreadful out there!

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Clemen! It's just as purty as can be! So proper looking.. ain't it amazing how many different flowers there are and they are all different and beautiful... Thank you God! I like your wild frog hanging out there with it, too! Clem, you sure spoil that man, dinner EVERY night! ;) I'm sure he spoils you, too!

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Yes to both. We always work twelves, but like I said we get alot of time off. In fact we only work 14 days a month on twelves and they pay us time and a half for any sundays we work. The plant is also closed almost all holidays. Could be my dream job if we didn't have to work nights every other month. I am NOT a night person. Even if I stay up late I am up early. Yes the shop will be in Syracuse. My inlaws are selling the shop to us. Cannot wait! I love dog grooming. I thought I could sell some plants out front during spring and summer!

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Clemen how pretty! The plant is nice and compact. You do spoil him. I am NOT gonna let my hubbie read this thread. LOL

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Aw, Louise....... let him see. Clemen knows I'm teasing her. Alas, we have no Hunk Hotties... I thought MAYBE, when James peeked in on the #4 or #5 thread... but I see we've done skeered him off. Beck, you can have 2 great big ol blooms on your Hottie shirt, that should get "you" some attention. ;)

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

Yeap Louise and Bonnie, I spoil him to death! Dinner everynight, he comes in and starts smelling and dreams of home cooking, so do my girls and I love to cook anyway! So when he does not behave, guess what happens, NO DINNER, LOL.

I love my plant too, she is so pretty. BTW AuntB, that froggie is Mexican Talavera pottery, I have them all over, pots, animals, etc, just beautiful colors and it makes the yard look very tropical!
Clemen
