She's about to .....#8 : )

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

My Goodness! I fall asleep in front of the food channel and you guys are dreaming up t-shirt ideas!! Making pickles and painting. Wonderful idea's going around. I'm getting pretty busy over here in KS.. Don't think I have much time right now, not that I'd be creative like that, but I DO want one so you Hotties just keep it going. Drew will be moving next week, and a few days later we leave on our trip to Ft. Jackson, SC for GF's grad from boot camp and then to GF's next appt, in VA. We have a local Polish Delicatesin that makes HOT dill pickles.. Mom used to make them, and cinnamon cucumber rings and spiced beets, maters, beans and canned fruit. I can remember tomato juice running to my elbows from peeling them on canning days. I'll just know your's are delicious and I always think it looks so pretty all freshly canned. Louise, I didn't get the dirty cabbage mixed up last night, smelled my new brug bloom and crashed. AND I love your painting, such 'mucho' talent! Peg, you and DH have positive thoughts coming from here, we're all thinking of you! Clemen, always love your pics. Joyce, I can just see your little car pulling in the drive all low to the ground! DH wondering WHAT you're bringing home, now! lol I have a chiro. appt, can't seem to beat a dull headache, later hotties, gotta go! Marion, you are quite the traveler.. how IS that craft room developing?

(Cathy), MO

Hope the headache gets better Bonnie. I get them alot too. Think it's stress. Excedrin Migraine is the only thing that will get rid of mine. Wonderful stuff!

(Linda Kay) Amarill, TX(Zone 7a)

Good morning everyone. Hope your all doing well.
Lavender, that painting is very nice. I like the colors.
Have a good day, and stay out of the heat.
Linda Kay

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Mornin hottie friends! Peg we are all praying everything is perfect! I will have to check out that thread. I only canned four quarts this time, but the cukes show no sign of lettin up, and I only planted the patio bush kind too! Makes up for the squash bugs getting my zukes and the butterfly cats eating my dill.

(Becky) Colmesneil, TX(Zone 8b)

sorry Louise.. I am a dummy on the puter and don't know how to get you there..lol
Bonnie.. are you at work.. or on the couch? I hate you have a headache.. must be a bad one to have to go to the chiropractor
I went looking on the mid-south forum last night.. friend wanted me to check out her "ears"..lol and who do I find over there with Kimbob?? yep.. Bonnie and Linda... on the brugs thread Kimbob started.. wow... she has a BUNCH!! and all BLOOMING...waaaaaa.. well at least I know where Kimbob is.. all busy in her yard taking care of her babies!!
Are we all just kinda in the "dumps" this morning?? I sure am... that shopping liked to have killed me yesterday..hehe ..seems like if I "work" really hard one day.. I am in bad shape the next!! Bairly can motivate.. I sure hope these steroid injections will help my back..IF we can get an appt!! Seems like several of the Dr. are on vacation.. or just got back..humm.. must be nice!!

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

yeah I know. They take more vacations. It sure is alot cooler today. Wish I had waited today to plant my rosebush lol. Figures. Oh well a little sweating is probably good for me. I saw Bonnie and Joyce on the Hibiscus forums too. They have such pretty specimens. Mine is finally looking like it is gonna pop. Took a little rest after I repotted it.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

I'm back. Headache gone. I'm seeing him for pulling the muscle in my low back. The pain was moving up to through my shoulders and neck.. but I feel pretty rubbery right now! Nice massage. Cooler here too, only 85 so far. Wish I was home playing in the dirt. You see, Kimbob and I, much like MANY of you other Hotties have plant addictions other than just brugs.. Brugs is what brought US all together, but we have other plant interests, for sure. I have to stay off a lot of forums cause I get too many thread going at once... that's dangerous for an easily confused Hottie like me! lol Brugs ARE clear up there on the list, but we like plumies and ee's and cannas and voodoo lilies and hoya and hibiscus and hosta and annuals (the list is endless!). Becky, I hope you get some spunk back this afternoon. And you get that shot ASAP. I know what you mean about getting pooped out and how long it takes to bounce back.

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

I know I have alot of plant addictions. Just got my first boug baby too. I do have a soft spot for tropicals. Just ordered some seeds from gourmet seeds, they had a 99 cent flower seed sale and when I got my bean seeds for next year I ordered some tropical vine seeds to play with. I really want to get some seeds for a corkscrew vine and try them. I really am enjoying my two colors of black eyed susan vines. Definitely going to get more of them for next year. My three days off are over and it is back to work tonight. Just glad this is the last week of nights. Yay back to days for a month!

Kansas City (Joyce), MO(Zone 5a)

lavender, someone sent me a corkscrew vine. Can you overwinter them or is it better to start them over with seeds?

I got two seeds off of my Buddah Belly plant. I haven't done anything with them yet.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Louise, I have some little shell/corkscrew vine started, two plants. I'll keep one for me and bring the other one to the round up for you. I had nice germination on some purple bell vine this spring, but I should have planted them in a bigger pot or those peat pots... they didn't like to be transplanted and all them seedlings went kaput. Thanks for reminding me, I can still start more and winter over. I love the black eyed susies, too. And moonvine and hyacinth bean vine. The flyers all like them, too.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Joyce! Hi girl! What is a Buddah Belly Plant? I'm going to try wintering my corkscrew.

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Goodness you hot ladies are a busy bunch; I had to take 2 vacation day to clean up and rest from the weekend. Good weekend but I was so exhausted yesterday I didn’t move until late in the afternoon. Today, water, water, water everything and clean a little.
Now I need to get ready for the new burgs from the co-op. I ordered 7, what am I nuts? Boy they do multiply; I’ve already got 6 potted in the yard.
Question hotties, I didn’t realize until ready though the treads that some burgs need shade. I’ve got mine in the sun 6 to 8 hours a day. Here is what I have and what’s coming, do any of these need shade?

Ecuador pink
Jerad’s Joy
New Orleans lady
Cassies curls
Kurpark Bad Salzschlirf
Goldenes Kornett
Day Dream
Forestville Double
Orange Sherbert
Pink Velvet
Native Habitat's Double Peach

I’ve got tons of shade so I’ll be okay if they do.

(Kim) Philadelphi, PA(Zone 6a)

Dunnno..... send em to me and I will figgerit out ;0}

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Donna, the only brug I know of that takes complete shade is Snowbank. I'm not sure about it's sport Greenbank... I also only have a young Day Dreams (from the ones on your list) and it is on the front row for sun at my house, the taller brugs offering some p.m. shade as well. You'll have to move them around to find their happy spot. I've found my PP brug, Joyce's MW, and Alex appreciate some early afternoon shade. Maya, Versi, Pink Beauty are sun worshippers.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Kim! lol

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

I plan to over winter my corkscrew vine when I get it. Thanks Bonnie! My sis gave me some oleander seeds to play with, so I will try getting those going for the RU. I have a jasmine start for Joyce that is looking good so far. LOL kim and Donna that is some list you have there. What fun! Bonnie I think I remember you saying you put bayer 2 in 1 in with your brugs for mite. Do you use the granules? How much? I want to get all my stuff treated before I bring them in. I also plan to spray the sun room heavily with ortho home defense. It is the best stuff ever and it has a four month residual and is pyrethrin. Used it last year and it worked great.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Ortho Home Defense..... writing that down-has pyrethrin, yay! (for spraying in the plant area in the basement- NOT on my brugs) I like the Bayer 3 & 1, but 2 in 1 is all I could get last time. Some would disagree, but I sprinke about 2 TBS on my big 25 gal tubs and adjust accordingly for the smaller ones. This year I'm going to use some tree stuff for aphids, too, it lasts for a year. I also top dress with worm castings IF I have some on hand. Trying to be more green, but it's hard for an ol Hottie like me to change. Worse thing I can imagine is a spider mite war down there in November.

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Thanks, I didn’t want to roast any of them. I’m very additive and definitely a plantaholic.
Lavender, I’m sure the list will get longer if I can keep em alive all winter.
Kim, You want em pots and all, you can have them if you want to pay the postage. Ha Ha just kidding, can’t give them up.

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

yep, I do two applications two weeks apart, just to make sure I got everything. I spray every little nook and cranny. I have some mites in the yard on some of my plants that I got curtesy of a greenhouse order. Was hoping the summer would take care of them, but they are still on some plants especially the thunbergias. I just recently bought some mite spray and am going to go over them soon, but I want more protection when I crowd all the plants in for the winter or it is going to be mite all you can eat buffet.

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

well gotta go nap before work tonight. I will catch up with all you hotties sometime tomorrow. Have a great afternoon!

Gilmer, TX(Zone 8a)

Have ya'll ever done a brug cutting swap in the fall? I thought it might be fun. If I organized one, do you think anyone would like it. You know, get names, give everyone a "buddy" and we could send brug cuttings.. Could even post what we have and want and could trade with more thn one person. Or do you think everyone trades enough already? Dumb idea? Well, most of mine are. My mouth overloads my brain.

Can we get a t shirt if we don't go to ru?

(Louise) Palm Bay, FL(Zone 9b)

Looks like no nap for me. the phone keeps ringing lol. Lorraine I like the idea, but I have no cuttings to share yet. Next year I will. I do have other stuff I can send cuttings of though. Hoyas, begonias and such.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Lorraine, EVERY Hottie gets a shirt. Least that's what I think. We ARE having a mini MW Hottie RU, cause Joyce and Cat aren't going to make the DG MW RU.. We would all love to meet somewhere, unite together as brug loving Hotties, but that seems unrealistic at this time.. So we ALL will get the shirt and have an RU thru DG. That is a nice gesture about a cutting swap, you talkin just Hotties or the whole brug forum?? Maybe we can tie it in with our T-shirts? It seems like a lot of work for you, but you are Hottie Momma Rainey! lol I missed Louise, maybe she'll check in before work... I made her dish.. it smells and looks great! I think I got lazy with rolling the leaves and I didn't cook the sauce, :( but it's too late now.. I think it will be okay.. she said the double recipe cooks for 3 hours......I didn't double it... I'm baking it an hour and hope she catches this before work...... or 7 p.m. HOTTIE ALERT: LOUISE! (help me, Hottie!) lol Going out to do a quick walk around and water a bit..

I am glad you are feeling better too!! BTW.. I got some of the Bayer 3 in 1 liquid ( for 2$ each at Lowes!!!!!..hehe).. how much for the brugs of that??
LOLKim... nooo I think Donna needs to send them to me for a long distance comparison.. if they need sun all day or not.. course I know she ain't gonna do it.. she'd got the addiction BAD as us..
Louise.. where do you work?? TC tonight.. and don't work too hard..
I got some corkscrew tree cuttings for a dger up N. and they were rooting soo well in water.. and when I put them in dirt.. they fizzled and died..oh I was sooo sad..
Addictions??? I have them too. I love azaleas.. the formosas.. deep hot pink.. and I have a lot of spring daffs.. daylillies.. hostas.. I am just getting into summer flowers... and boy do I have a lot since I have gone to 2 RU's now.. just they are tiny.. but I will have all kinds to share with ya'll next spring.. like coleus.. coneflower..plumbago.. rain lillies.. laitris..caladiums..Christmas cactus.. cerius..bananas..all kinds of salvias.. heck I don't remember them all..
Not much talking today... guess it's been "one of those days" for most of us...???

Nassau County, NY(Zone 7a)

South Coast, RI(Zone 6b)

Ooooo that looks good Clem, I may be additive but no way are you hotties getting me to cook. I gave that up when the last DD moved out. Only do it now when DD comes home on leave or if DGD is here.

Long way to TX Beck, It would be a very heavy box. I don’t think my babies are ready to leave home yet. Maybe they could come and visit over the winter, gets real cold here in RI.

NE, KS(Zone 5b)

Clemen, did DH make that? I KNOW our Taco Bell doesn't do shrimp.. It looks yummy! I let it cook for an hour and a half.,, I haven't tried it yet, DD had a rice/chicken casserole ready so we ate that.., but I'll have to taste it. Becky, too bad they couldn't give it to you today..while you were there. 3-1 Bayer?? $2?????? Lowe's, Gotta check mine out tomorrow! I gave the same 25 gal tub to 2 TBL. Looky what I got last night!

Aw, Donna. You have a good rest. Work sure gets in a gardeners way. Becky there's 1 I could maybe sway a bit, but most of them aren't too friendly. They're probably snapping up the really good deals themselves. I used to have a friend that worked there, I got some deals then. He always knew when they were marking stuff down and tell me to come look. Louise's recipe is DELICIOUS! Wonderful flavor.. Dinner is ready for tomorrow. Storms moving across the state south of me, thunder here, cool clouds too.. Sure hope Peg and DH are doing well...
