What's your favorite ICE CREAM?

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

I just polished off a rather large dish of ice cream. It was the only one we had in the freezer...chocolate, by
Breyers.

BUT, my all-time favorites are peaches and cream by Texas' "little creamery in Brenham," called Blue Bell, or pistachio gelatto.

It's summer, so..... What's YOUR favorite?

(Zone 7a)

Connie, I have to say my favorite is Marionberry Pie by, I think, an Oregon Company. I don't know the name. Mmmm.....

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Wow....I've never heard of a Marionberry. Is it like a blackberry? I do love berry ice creams too...raspberry, strawberry....

Deep East Texas, TX(Zone 8a)

BlueBell chocolate covered cherry vanilla, or BB cherry vanilla, or BB lemon ice cream. But my all time favorite is BB homemade vanilla.

DH says it's not BlueBell if it doesn't have chocolate in it!

South/Central, FL(Zone 9a)

My favorite is homemade. I don't get it very often, but it's still a favorite. : )
Pineapple flavored...yum yum : )

As far as store bought, Chocolate is my favorite. I usually buy Breyers.

(Zone 7a)

Connie, yes, it's like blackberry and it's heaven.

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Yum....we don't get blackberry ice cream here very much...would love to try it!

BlueGlancer: I used to make orange sherbet in a home ice cream maker. Used milk, a can of pineapple pieces, and orange soda! I can't remember how much of each, but someone might remember. You just reminded me of it with your post and now I'm craving some!

(Zone 7a)

Hey! Now I want some, too! LOL Sounds yummy.

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

I'm thinking it was "even" amounts of stuff...like a gallon of milk, 6 bottles, yes...bottles!! of orange soda, and one large can of pineapple pieces (not the chunk, but the shredded type). But I'm not sure at all. We used to take the stuff to our boat and make it all the time! This was a CRANK machine, obviously! Now you know my age....hehe

South/Central, FL(Zone 9a)

I just pulled out my ole ice cream churn, and blew the dust off. LOL Now, if I can talk DH into churning it. : )

Victoria Harbour, ON

Black cherry for sure..

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Most All ice cream. The one I seem to most often end up with is French Vanilla. High cholesterol be darned, I go for the ones with the highest fat content. Not so important with the the more heavily flavored ones, but it makes a difference with French Vanilla.

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

I like ones with lots of chocolate candy chunks and carmel swirls. I often am disappointed, paying for premium ice creams and not enough chunks. :(

My answer would be: any bit o' ice cream will do with my CHUNKS please. :)

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Betty...DH and I love to travel in Canada in the summer...especially VH! We went last summer...visited Butchart Gardens (breathtaking!!), had (took?) tea at the same hotel the Queen visits--can't remember the name!--and experienced the Canadian Independence Day with you! Visited a pub that night and celebrated with y'all!

But, we also went to an ice cream stand and had some black cherry! Why does BB (Blue Bell) our local creamerie, not do black cherry?? It's really one of my favorites, but we can never find it!

Blue...a genuine crank "freezer"??!!!! Too cool! I wish we had not garage-saled ours. I swear it make better "cream"!! :-)

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

Up in Michigan we enjoyed "Mackinaw Island Fudge" by the brand Mooneys which also has stop-in ice cream shops. It is to die for! But....no good fudge ones I've found here in Texas yet.

Edited to say: Mackinaw Island is a real place up in Michigan with a lot of old-charm and history. It's where the Jane Seymour and Christopher Reeves movie "Somewhere in Time" was filmed. :)

Tir: I've heard of M Island a lot! I think I read a book set there one time. Now I want to go there!

I just love it how the Northern states and Canada have lots of ice cream shops that are just open seasonally! I think that makes it more special...to look forward to it. However, I asked at a shop in Maine (went spent our vacation at Moose Head Lake in June) and they said many of them now are open year-round.

Jim Falls, WI(Zone 4a)

How can you decide? I can't! LOL

Houston, United States(Zone 9b)

Connie, I think it'd be a hard business to have up north. I know my friend she tried to have a kiosk ice cream shop in a mall and it bombed in Michigan.

Lawrenceville, GA(Zone 7b)

Chocolate chip cookie dough, peach cobbler with the crunchy crust in it. My dad's church had a 4th of July picnic with homemade vanilla ice cream with Reese's peanut butter cups in it. It was so goooood!

Santa Fe, NM

I like local ice cream and gelato best. But, for national brands and good ice cream, Ben and Jerry's "Cherry Garcia" is really good!

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Starbuck's Coffee Almond Fudge! Yummy! http://www.starbucks.com/grocery/coffalmfug.asp I try not to buy it too often, because I can sit down with the container and a spoon and before I know what happened, it's gone.

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Well, thus far I have managed to have Only spent about 20. at Starbucks TOTAL over all the years... for the occasional glass of iced tea. Now, thanks to Joan, I might just have to pop in more often! Who knew they had ice cream??? Is it only in markets or in the Starbucks corner shops?

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

We don't have a Starbucks coffee shop, so I don't know if they have it or not. I buy it at the grocery store.

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Ah...so it could be another company called Starbucks? Or does it have the Starbucks' logo on the tub? Because the flavor you love has coffee in it, it probably is the same! I'll have to look for it at our local grocery!

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

It has the starbucks logo on the carton and this is what their website says:

Quoting:
Chocolaty covered almonds and fudgy swirls in creamy coffee ice cream We'd like to share a little secret with you. The ice cream you are about to indulge in is so good, one spoonful may not be enough. The flavor of authentic, real brewed Starbucks® coffee delivered straight from our beans to your ice cream scoop provides the creamy taste of fresh roasted ice cream. Blended with luscious fudge swirls and just the right amount of crunchy, chocolaty covered almonds, this creamy perfection tastes like you'd expect it to.

Canton, GA(Zone 7b)

Homemade Rocky Road!

Yum!

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Joan, you have just contributed to the delay of my latest diet! *grinning*

I, like a condemned prisoner, always like to have a delicious meal or comfort food as a last celebration before Day #1

Now I must call our local Starbucks and see if they have it there. Chocolate with almonds is a favorite of mine. I LOVE Hershey's with almonds....eat about 1 a week. So your favorite ice cream just seems like Hershey's on steroids for the summer!!!!

Paris, IL(Zone 6a)

I like to keep some vanilla on hand for all the things that can be added/done with it. Breyer's is a good brand. I'm also surprised "Bunny" (or something with that in the name) and sold at Walmart is pretty good for bargain store brand.

If I'm having ice cream and only ice cream I'll choose Wright's "Pralines & Cream" hands down over anything else.

Starbucks ice cream? If a cuppa coffee is $4 I'm afraid to find out how much their ice cream costs. Venti Vanilla Latte, decaf after 6PM, anyone?

Gladwin, MI(Zone 5a)

Ice cream, mmmmm, like lots of flavors. I have to say the Mackinaw fudge is a very good icecream.

The fudge in the Upper peninsula and Mackinaw is the best fudge ever. But take a loan out first...it is pricey. I agree, icecream places here do have a tough time. This year we have only had two or three hot days this summer, with lots of rain and mild temps. Not good for icecream sales.

My favorite icecream though is either butter pecan or maple walnut.

Weatherford, TX

I can't name just one!
Chocolate Almond
Cherry Garcia
German Chocolate
and that Peach Pie ice cream someone already mentioned with the crust mixed in...

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

Gosh...I had forgotten about maple walnut. You "Northern guys" have the best flavors that don't seem to be available down South!! Someone down here should get the hint! :_)

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Gotta have Publix's Bare Foot Brownie!! Oh my!!!

Zolfo Springs, FL(Zone 9b)

Connie that homemade orange sherbet shounds wonderful hope someone has the recipe and posts it. We just made homemade pineapple this weekend. (my favorite homemade) I would definitely try that sherbet if i had a recipe.

My favorite store bought is Black Walnut.

Weston, FL

I love Rocky Road, Breyer's Vanilla Bean with the little black vanilla bean specks(especially with fresh strawberries on top), chocolate chip, and mint chocolate chip. At Dairy Queen (I know it's not the best ice cream, but....) I like the pecan mudslide waffle bowl sundae. And now I will have to look for Barefoot Brownie next time I go to Publix!

Forgot about BB's Milk Chocolate and Dutch Chocolate ice creams.

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Snuzer29, let me know when you get some. I will come with my own spoon!!! LOL
Will have to tell a story about myself and DD and a half gallon of Barefoot Brownie. I had just bought some on a Monday, Tuesday my husband collapsed with advance stages of cancer and DD and DS came home. Well as luck would have it that was the weekend dear Hurricane Francis came through Gainesville! We got worried about the power being off so we decided to have a dish of ice cream so it all wouldn't go to waste. We ate our bowl and got the container out and just started eating--yeap until it was all gone!! Sure made the hurricane blowing around us much easier. Good thing we couldn't get our cars out the next day to go anywhere as we were both so sick!! Oh never, never do that!!

Weston, FL

LOL granma! Tell me is it vanilla with brownie pieces? Any caramel or nuts?

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Oh yes it is vanilla, huge chunks of fudge and brownies!! Moosetracks has the caramel, don't know about nuts!

Weston, FL

OK thanks, You'll find me in the ice cream section of my local Publix tomorrow!!!!

(Marion) Havana, FL(Zone 8b)

Just don't blame me!! LOL
