z grandilfora?

Right now I have Z verecundaq, Z lindleyana (again--very late season for a rebloom on this one), Zeph x 'Ruth Page' (very excellent re-bloomer), Hab robustus 'Fletcher Strain' (this is one of my own), Zeph nymphaea, Zeph candida, Zeph grandiflora, Hab x floryii, and Hab brachyandrus blooming at the house. Can't wait to go to my growing fields tomorrow and see what's happening there.

Budded up and ready to open tomorrow are Zeph x Batik (pictured ready to pop tomorrow--nice orange bud form on this one), Zeph x 'Capricorn', Zeph x tenexio, Zeph macrosiphon, and Zeph primulina (yet again here too--thunderstorms in the summer yield surprising results)

I know I've got more going but will save some pics for tomorrow.

now this is off topic but the rainfall also helped some of the minor bulbs to start going--can't seem to get a good pic on Bessera elagans to save my soul, but you saw that one on the other thread.

I also have a personal Achimenes collection--the rain got them to just start blooming. These are on a windowsill outside, complete shade. About a week ago a good-meaning, but unsupervised by me at the time, friend decided he'd power wash my house for me. Well he decided the front windows would get done too--these leaves did not appreciate that, but they will recover. I have these in a lot of colors but these are just the first for the season.

another minor bulb much in appreciation of the rain is this Lilium speciosum rubrum var "Uchida"--most folks won't even try these down here but it seems to be doing just fine

tomorrow I'll concentrate on those lesser known Zeph and Hab speices for pics

Debbie I love the pictures and now I can see that I need all 3 varieties of Habranthus tubispathus. Love the rocks on the windowsill. A gal right after my own heart!! I got a couple of Achimenes from Wade but i think they will not make it. Love that lily. Why does everyone ignore that one?

thank you so much Marie!

with my degree in geology, I'm also a closet "rock collector"--thanks for noticing!

as far as the lily goes--I don't think you are supposed to be very successful with it as far south and with summers like we have. I just caught a break with 3 overcast days right when it started to bloom (it blooms a lot later than the other lilies I grow). Got lots of bulbils on that flore pleno and L leichtliniii--so I'm real excited.

the achimenes and winter growing oxalis are another "closet obsession" (with the rocks) for me--most people think I'm nuts doing them...not like that's never been said before--lol

some species are really quick from seeds--I'm going to get you started on them, they are really easy from seed. This one doesn't look too hot--first bloom, 16 months on seed for Zeph x 'Ruth Page' by those Zeph labuf's on the front porch

I'll have a lot better pics over the next few days--Chris can't understand why I'm so happy today ;)

Zeph x 'Batik', which is one of my favorites--it holds its color well

Geez I posted a big ole long post and it just disappeared!!

I love all the photos and that new fence is great!! I will need to add Habranthus brachyandrus to my need list.

I love Z. candida. It is the reason I found GW and Dave's and it will always hold a special place in my garden!!
