this is a fledge Wood Thrush who actually startled me (instead of vissa versa...lol) these guys are LOUD and FAST when startled and I was actually shooting something else in that bush when I think we noticed each other at the same time, I nearly dropped my camera in a bed of poisen Ivy but caught it by one of the tabs on the side of the camera . What a hoot!! Oh how I love spring!!! (FYI..Pic is sideways)

Great start to the new thread bebop!

Wonderful pics everyone!

Lincoln, United Kingdom(Zone 8a)

It is a sweet Godfinch bebop, very pretty too.

BirdieBlue, you need a strap around your neck 'just in case', lol. I do that as a matter of rule now as I once flung my old camera to the brick path when the door stuck and jerked, I was in a hurry to get a pic! Luckily it only cracked the monitor glass at the corner.

Your Wood Thrush looks much like our Song Thrush, I keep disturbing a young one under my tree, it flies up to a 'perch' then looks at me for a while.

The House Martins are getting well feathered, this I took 3 days ago. The nest has a hole in the side. Only two heads, don't know if there's more.

My question is how do all of you get so close? Or do you use lenses for this on a DSLR?
