Summer Lilies 2008 Pt.6
I'm with you magnolia, I think Big Red is going on my 'must-have' list!
How can you not, being from Wisconsin and all? ;)
ecmama very nice asiatics. Don't say you *just* have asiatics blooming. They are all wonderful.
Nice ~ it bet it smells good around there!
Susan, Diann, jmorth, Oh so many amazing beauties you all have! Loving the show :-)
grapus, I've become quite the fan of those pendulous, recurved blooms. That pastel speckled one is very special.
ecmama, Spice Island is very cool!
popgeo, I'm very happy to see you posing here, your pics made me gasp...multiple times, LOL. Your gardens rival those of vendors!
The 'Queen' strain pics several of you have posted are so lovely.
Keep em coming!
Neal
popgeo, your lily gardens look more like the growers fields I have visited (Lily Garden, Mak). Very nice!
Hmmm..Confused...I have one (there will only be 2) blooms on my Madame Butterfly...But why is it so itsy-mini???. The bloom open is about the size of a golf ball...Is it supposed to be so small??? Certainly very cute but not what I expected.
B&D website says 2-3 ft. which is what it is...But Lily Garden where I got the bulb says 4-5 ft....Any comments to help "edumacate" me?
Yes, it is a small flowered lily. Mine was about 5 ft tall the first year but shorter this year. They haven't bloomed yet.
Another shot of Sumatra. These were taller last year when they were purchased but after being wintered in the garage, started under lights in the same garage, set outside to be pummeled by hail the first week of June (damage is still visible on the leaves), then nearly drowned with an unusual amount of rain I'm happy with the tenacity of these pretties...
Thanks Pard!... I always thought it was one of the mama-jama humongo blooms...I actually like it because it's almost a miniature and I don't have any of those..Was just very surprised.
'Sweet Kiss' is beautiful!
That Starburst Sensation is WOW!!!!
What Nanny said!!!!
Sumatra is AWESOME!! I am always a softie for pinks, though...the brighter the better!
Wow, I go away for the day and this place just explodes with colors!! Very nice everyone, keep the pictures coming!!! :)
Just look what happens when you go to Chicago for the weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome popgeo, your pictures and gardens are stunning to say the least.
So many varieties I haven't seen before...I think the list is already taller than myself!
I need to get out and see what new surprises my garden has for me this morning.
Lovely, just lovely everyone, (as she mumbles to herself while heading for the door....)
Chocolatemoose, you have such a great collection! Madame Butterfly is awesome!
jmorth, I'm so loving all your OTs, especially some of these unusual ones from buggy. Beauty Rose reminds me somewhat of Scheherezade, in shape and stature; would you think that, having seen it? Since Schez isn't fragrant, that also had me wondering if Beauty Rose is fragrant? Ultimately, I want it regardless,- inquiring minds just wanna know! LOL
Very nice lilies you guys. I love checking in here. It's so much fun.
gemini_sage - I don't think Beauty Rose is fragrant, but I'll have to check to verify that. There's a clump of Trumpets in the same area that steal the smell show. Scheherezade is planted but a few feet away and may open it's first bloom tomorrow. When it gets going it'll be easy to compare. Beauty Rose tops out over 6 ft., Scheherezade is a foot taller. Both varieties are very strong-stemmed growers.
