Hi everyone,
I am basically new to the NE forum but since I had the privilege of meeting some of you at Kassia's RU I thought I would introduce my garden to you.It was a treat and if I didn't introduce myself is because I am on the shy side.
We moved very late in 2006 .My gardens were started in April of 2007.They were no flowers to speak of but lucky enough to have big established tree's :-)
I planted well over 100 roses last year, lost all of the ones I had put into urns and containers. So I learned a big and expensive lesson.
My other loves are daylilies, irises, peonies, variety of other perennials, very few annuals.
Been planting nonstop since last year and will treasure the plants which have been given to me by some of you,
Brigitte

Shy gardeners are welcome here anytime.
No excuses.
Oh, Brigette, your gardens are gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!! It was great meeting you and Angela at the RU.
Oh forgot to say LOVE your house!!!
Very nice to meet you and you are always welcome! Gorgeous gardens and home too!
Bridgette - it was great to meet you at the RU! Surprised my DH didn't follow either of the Maine cars home!
Your gardens are absolutely beautiful! 100 roses in just a year. Holy Moly! Your house looks spacious and, well, homey! What year was it built?
Hi Bridgette, nice to hear from you. What a lovely garden, so many roses it must smell really nice. Looks like a real cottage garden you have started and don't be shy, we love seeing peoples gardens and hearing about their troubles as well as their triumphs. For such a short time working at your garden, you must have worked very hard, it certainly looks wonderful.
Beautiful, Brigitte!
Thank you all for the compliments :-)
ge1836,I am actually not so shy ,It just takes me awhile to come out of my shell .
flowerjen,
I have so many many pictures to share of gardens/flowers/some show the house.
We used to live in a 1850 New England farmhouse for almost 26 years and I had to leave large gardens behind so of course I dug up some of my favorit DL,2 roses and planted them in Nov.My tags of the DL read Nov.22nd 2006 and they ALL lived.
yes,it is a very lovely old house we live in now.It is a Italianate Style, also built in 1850.
schickenlady,
I want to get another woodenfence but my husband is bound to get one of these newer carefree "plastic ones"...no painting. So we'll see?
DawnLL,
Thank you for the welcome,it's nice to meet you too.
Nanegoat66,
So you still want to move up ? hey it's not as bad as some people make it sound.I LOVE Maine, especially since it has 4 seasons.
OPPS..got to get the phone...I'll be back to answer the rest of you and post some more pics later,
Brigitte
ngam,
it's nice to meet you also, perhaps at the next RU we can meet and put a face with a name.I always seem to smile when I know someones face i.e.members I met.Yes.most of my roses have a wonderful Old Rosegarden scent.I plant alot of the antique roses which could have been at this house a century ago ? i.e.Alba's,Gallica's,Damask's etc.
We are a retired military family and as you can see we always have been a working family starting with the young ones. This is my husband and Trot who was barely 2 years old last summer,in the meantime he has twin brothers born in Dec.07
Great little gardener in the making, Brigitte!
Victorgardener,
Thank you so much.It means alot coming from another gardener.
I see your name so often when you post but missed meeting you.I don't even know which of the 'fellows' you were ? ...I met Dave and Sherrie's husband, also the dogwalker.
Here is Trot who is dying to help.
Ed.I better slow down ..sp.

I was not at the RU, but look forward to meeting you at some point! What a cute little guy.
Oh too bad they are so far away.
Hi Victor ,we kind of crossposted..it just took me longer to post a picture since I have so many saved.
It will be great to meet you :-)
I know,we talk several times a week and he tells me EVERYTHING...2 nights ago he startet out confessing " I bit Landry"..so I said " Oh Trot you can't bite your little babybrother"...I know...You can't do that again...YES ma'am :-) ..how can one be mad ?
Very cute! (Not sure Landry agrees.)
Hi Bridgette,
The gardens are beautiful and the roses, oh how I love the roses. Little Trot is adorable; I have a DGD that just turn 3, she loves my flowers. I’m fairly new here and was not at the RU so you won’t remember me.
Donna
Hi Brigitte, it was nice meeting you at the RU. I knew you would have lovely rose gardens! I see you live in one of the historic house in Gardiner...I always love those big old houses. Thanks for sharing your beauty with us!!
Your gardens are absolutely beautiful...as well as the house...I love the old Maine houses...You must feel like you are in heaven..
Dear Northeasterners: I'm new to Dave's Garden, greetings, all. I'll be visiting this forum often for advice.
Welcome to the loonybin.
We are harmless and some of us know a thing about gardenein, exclude me of course.
MegaGwin,
Welcome to DG.I am usually found in the rose forum but beginning to hang around here too.You will have fun and so much to learn. They're are a bunch of wonderful gardeners :-) what do you do grow the most ? what are your favorites ?

brig, your gardens look that they've been there forever. how come mine don't look like that???? the blood, sweat and tears certained panned out for you, girl.
Thanks for the kind welcome! My favorite plants are roses and lilies, old, new, species, everything. I also need advice about shade gardening, because my yard is getting that way more and more, and I'd rather go with it than fight it. So far, all I know in the way of dappled-sunlight and shade gardening is hostas, astilbes, ferns, and an extremely limited selection of those. So there are plenty of questions I'll be pestering you with.
Welcome Megagwyn! A lot of people here to answer all our questions, glad you joined us. Quite a few Ma. people hanging around too.
Welcome, Meg!
Welcome Meg, you'll love here!
Wow, Brigitte - your gardens and your beautiful home are such a treat to see! I can't believe you have done so much in such short time! It was great to meet you at the RU. Hank has planted the glads you gave him and they are already up and rarin' to go! I hope you will post more photos for us to drool over! LOL
Meg - hello! How nice to have you join us!
Hi again :-)
it was such a treat to meet you.You were the first one to greet me with this BIG smile I won't forget.I know I turned around like I already knew you...it was so strange.

I have basically worked nonstop on these gardens and it is paying off.Still LOTS and LOTS to do,planting some more ,mulching etc.....weeds are running away from me but I keep going as much as I can.Hopefully next year it will be so much nicer already and I can actually sit and enjoy my roses :-)
Beautiful shade, Brigitte. Did your daughter join yet??
