Dadgummit! My sister is having her 30th b-day party on the 26th! This, coupled with our water heater going out on Thursday and the cost of gas, will definately keep us from attending. We were so looking forward to coming, too! Ashley was going to make a Rocky Road Cake and I was gonna bring over 30gal of compost tea. Y'all have fun and take lots of pictures.

Randy- That's what I figured, but thought I'd ask. They are not DG members, but I wouldn't be surprised if they join up after this get together. See you Saturday. BTW, is there anything in particular you can think of we need to bring? I'll have a couple of folding tables, yard chairs, a cord and fan, and of course some grub. Jim, the biggest thing that always seems to be lacking is: Things to drink.
I'm not a big advocate of soft drinks particularly when it's as hot as it's been-
so if anyone asks about bringing something my response will be
Gatorade - powdered or bottle
Iced Tea
Lemonade
bottle water (Gallons are fine- we don't need individual bottles)
Drinks that replenish the body
If anyone is bringing hard alcohol, bring your mixer too.
And...if your going to drink Wine at the wine tasting, please bring a bottle.
Red wines seemed to be quite popular last year, and suspect the same will be true this year.
Shoot, who do you think taught me how to have fun? Heehee.
I'll be bringing a personal stash of iced tea and a few bottles of vino.

If you feel like helping me on friday, I need to figure out the layout for the food and drinks inside the house...you can just call me if you have time or just show up...I'll be running around like a chicken... I think Wayne is off on friday, so best to call first as we may be running around to Sams or Home depot...

How about I come by around 12:30 and I bring you guys some lunch? I can lay out the tables or whatever else while ya'll are running back and forth. At least I can get the area set up and put labels where everything will be going so as folks arrive, they can look at the label and know where to put their food. I'll pick up some table cloths too.
If anyone is bringing somthing in crock pots or any other device that needs to plug in, please speak up now so we can accomodate the dishes.

Couple of changes to what I'm bringing and I'll post this on the other thread as well.
I forgot all about this pretty drink dispenser I received for Christmas.....it holds 4 gallons so, I'll make 4 gallons of iced tea and bring that. Can someone bring an ice chest full of ice?
Foodwise, I'm bringing baked beans, stinky cheese and crackers (for the wine tasting), peach cobbler (mom) and mississippi mud pie.....I might not have enough room in the car for the potato salad when I add the plants and chairs. So, does someone want to bring something in place of the potato salad? If I don't hear by Thursday, I'll try to wing it.
Mema (my 87 yo grandmother) has decided to come too. She lives in the area and loves a party. Now, Mema likes her wine so, I'll bring extra for her. She's a hoot and I think everyone will really enjoy meeting her.
It is only Tues nite! I have PR on Wed but only have to go to Magnolia Thurs!!!!

Can you tell that I collect books like I collect plants. I also collect buttons, keys, shells, and rocks to use as math manipulatives and for science if anyone has any they would like to get rid of. (hint hint ;) If you have any seeds that need a good home, but are too old to germinate, we use those too. I try and make it fun for my first graders.
