Grand-Falls, NB(Zone 4a)

Thanks Wallaby, those rocks are a plenty around here. My brother has fields of them and trying to get rid of them as landfill.
bbrook great collage, birds sure loves water ways.
Kniphofia, that's a nice close up of your goose.
Very nice shot of Eastern Kingbird Nanny.
Tigerlily, Your a great caregiver, that baby will probably survive because of your caring. And if he doesn't, it will not be because you didn't try. Great job.

Resin just ID this as a Double-Crested Cormorant.

Dull and rainy here today but I have a backlog of pics, lol, can't catch up with myself.

Baby Great Spotted Woodpecker came to dine on his own late in the day, this was 3 days ago. The male juvenile has red on the top of the head, it will be on the back of the head when it moults.

At about 8.30pm last night I noticed the sun was shining brightly on the neighbours wall, close to the House Martin's nest as it was getting low in the sky. Good opportunity to try a faster shutter speed!

While I'm on House Martins, I took some on Auto setting earlier while waiting for Airshow planes to come over. The babies are now coming to the nest opening to get fed while the parents hang on. 4 pics.

kniphofia, gorgeous goose. You say "again". I must have missed previous. What's the story?

Nice shots, nanny, wallaby & burn.

tiger, you've done a fantastic job. What an anxiety provoking exercise to try to remove the material from around the tongue. That's like microsurgery. To have done it, whilst cognisant of the distress being caused to the baby as well as to the parents was a remarkable feat. Without any shadow of doubt, the baby bird would have died without your intervention. And of course you're exhausted. It's a harrowing experience. Well done! Keep us posted on any updates.

Here's a "Peace Bird"........actually just a Grackle caught in mid-scratch.

Love seeing all the pics and reading the stories.

Margaret 'my' goose lives at a local country park. Every time I see him he's with this swan who is easily recognisable by his broken wing (although I think it's healing now).

It has been fascinating to watch how quickly the Baltimore Oriole's get the fledglings to come feed themselves.

Here is mom bringing a young one to eat.

And the she will fly off and leave it! Sometime she doesn't go to far away though. she may just be out of sight up in the tree.

Tiller, OR(Zone 8a)

I was able to get the photos downloaded onto this PC, but spent a couple days looking for them. This PC files them differently than mine.

Here's the second rescue, just before it was returned to the nest.

Bullock's Oriole

Shortly after the return.

Tiller, OR(Zone 8a)

This is not pretty. The young Bullock's is hanging by it's tongue. I sure hope I was able to remove enough of the tangled material for it to survive.

Note that the nest is made almost completely of man made materials. These synthetic fibers obviously pose a great threat.

Oh my ...that is so sad tiger!!

I am guessing that this is a young Field Sparrow maybe????

Very definitely, yes. Looks like you got there just in time!

I've really been enjoying everyone pictures. I have a lot of birds coming in to the feeders and plenty of nests hidden from view in my bushes, trees and birdhouses. I haven't gotten much in the way of good clear pictures lately but I took a few today that are good enough to post.
