Mistake on Plant Files?

Highland Heights, KY(Zone 6a)

I just noticed that "phicks" has Black Aztec corn for sale in the Marketplace, which clearly has black kernels. Interested to learn more, I looked it up on Plant Files, and it says, "Color of kernel: white". Huh?? I'm corn-fused...

Quite possibly a mistake, There are plenty of them. I am not familiar with Black Aztec, but it is often confused with Black Mexican which is used as a sweet corn. I notice some sources recommend Black Aztec for roasting ears. When used for this purpose at this stage it is a white corn. It matures to black. The point being, that it could be the perspective of the person making the entry. If they considered it as roasting ears (sweet corn) they could easily be thinking white

Interesting--thanks, Farmerdill.

Dill, should we be correcting the entry, or do you think if you posted a comment as to this that it would suffice? I'm not familiar with the cultivar either.

Joan, I would vote vote for correcting it, because the mature color is blue -black and its primary use is as an ornamental or flour corn. Black Mexican, which I grow from time to time would be considered a white sweet corn, although its mature color is a deep blue black. I suspect the confusion lies in the usage.

Thanks! I've corrected it. Would you mind putting a comment on the entry as to the usage and coloring? That's very useful information and might help to clear up some of the confusion.
