Very early mum that I always forget about and never get a chance to prune it back.

Jen, I always forget about a purple and yellow combination, I think the 2 colors are outstanding together.

You have until July 4th to cut back your mum, you could root the top for another plant, I'd sacrifice the buds. I use rooting hormone and regular potting soil and keep very moist, wait a few weeks and if they resist a gentle tug they took root. But I'm sure you know that.

Oh yeah, maybe I'll try that.

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

OH NO, Lady I didn't even that about rooting the Aster that I just hacked back yesterday and all those pieces are now part of my compost not chance of getting them back.
Here is a current picture of my window boxes. More of my ideas and Ric's handiwork. Those Morning Glories are growing up the trellises not blooming yet but I will post more pictures later. The Calidums Rose Bud and Arron they will fill in more later and that's White Bopaca. (sp?)

Very Nice Holly. My Caladiums are just now popping out of the ground. I thought they'd never get here!

Beautiful pictures Stormyla, My Oak Leaf is out in bright sun and pretty much looking like a mess. When I planted it there was going to be a privacy fence put in behind it, that would have shaded it. Well we decided not to put in the fence and I forgot that I would need to move it. I may just dig it up and take it to my Daughters house. I start my Caladiums in pots inside the house really gives them a head start. I had way more than I needed this year so I just stuck a bunch of bulbs in some old pots and set them against the back of the potting shed.

Holly, always enjoy seeing your Caladiums. Sadly I did not have any success wintering mine over in the pots, since I bought them at Walmart as a test, I might just say they could have been of poor quality from the get go. Might try another time.

Here is my Impatiens African Blondie that I grew from seed.

And I do have a purple and yellow combo, not as striking as Jen's. Lavender and Melompoduim (grown from seed)

Lady I remember seeing the picture of your tallest Trumpet Vine not sure which thread. It certainly was impressive. What do you think, would mine make the grade for the most mass?

Here's a closer look, really filled with flowers. The Hummers are out there all day long. I should have pruned it back a little shorter, I can walk under it but Ric can't and he got stung by a Bee on the back of the neck yesterday while ducking under a low hanging branch. I'm afraid I will lose quite a few flower bunches when I trim it up alittle.

Goodness Holly, I've never seen one so big! How long ago did you plant it? Is it free standing?

Dover, PA(Zone 6b)

No it's not free standing, Ric built an arbor over the front walk. Here is a winter picture where you can see the structure under it. I have lights woven around the arbor and through some of the branches so it's very pretty even when not in bloom. It's probably a good 15 years old but that's just a rough guess the age could go up or down by a few years either direction. I was to have had Wisteria out there but there was a mix up in the order. I had ordered 2 Wisteria and 1 Trumpet Vine from a catalogue. When the plants came I put the 2 that looked the same out front on that Arbor and the other one in the back next to the patio door. Three years later when they started to bloom I realized that I had received 2 Trumpet Vines and 1 Wisteria and I wasn't going to change anything by then. LOL

Holly, That's a great photo too! That arbor is completely hidden under that vine in the blooming photo. It made me think that trumpet vine could be free standing, the way some wisterias are.

Holly, that is an impressive Trumpet vine, in bloom and out of bloom.

I'll post my pic of the tallest! this is looking up with the zoom in to my estimated 10 story tall Locus tree!

Wow, Lady, How long have you had that?

Near Lake Erie, NW, PA(Zone 5a)

I can't remember when I planted the vine but we have lived here 38 years and the tree was here when we moved in. The vine was just a small plant when I planted it and was hoping it would stay on the lattice work and cover it, but it was happier to grow up the tree. I'll try to get some zoom pics of the flowers up in the tree when they bloom. It is strange looking up and seeing those red/orange trumpets!

Thank you Stormy. I am especially proud of them this year because something really had them looking awful last year.

Lady, I'm not doing very well getting pictures of my daylilies. I see them they look great then I get side tracked and by the time I go back they are done and I need to wait for the next ones to open.
