For the life of me, I cannot find the picture of the day. If someone posts a link to one, I can get to it, but otherwise, I cannot find it. I would think there would be a way to add it to your personal home page? I would like to see them everyday....
Also, when I try to view the DG daily newsletter (thinking this would be where I would find the photo of the day ) it refuses to accept my log-in. When I log into Daves Forums, etc, my auto login on my Mac works... but for some reason, the Daily Newsletter will not see me as a member.
I use a Mac with Safari.
Thanks for any help....

Picture of the day and DG daily newsletter problems
I also have a Mac with Safari, and I just went to the daily newsletter and it works fine, so it's not your browser causing the problem. I'm not sure if this is the picture of the day that you're thinking of, but if you go on the same page in Extras where the daily newsletter is, you'll see the Plant Files daily newsletter and there's a pic of the day in there. But in today's PF newsletter, the pic of the day doesn't load for some reason--not sure if that's a common problem or if it's just a random thing that happened today.
Actually there are only a handful of pictures that load in Plantfiles Pic of the day. Most of the time you just get the red x. Been that way for quite a while. But that beats the continuos picture of a snowball bush that we used to have.
Here is an example. This link was posted in the Pets forum. When I use it, I come to the newsletter and can see the "forum photo of the day" - and the "plantfiles photo of the day" and it sees me as logged in.
But, if I go to my "Home" and then to "extras" then on "DG News!" - and then go to right side where all the DG newsletters are listed... and I click on "Today's Dave's Garden Newsletter" it sees me as not logged in. When I click on "Past DG Newsletters" it does not see me as logged in either. However, Plant Files Newsletter and Bug Files Newsletter do see me.
When I go to the "Today's Dave's Garden Newsletter" and attempt to login I am kicked to a page that tells about DG, says I can take a tour or sign up to become a paying member (which I already am). So, then I click Extras, etc. to get to the "Today's Dave's Garden Newsletter" and it sees me as not logged in again, so won't display most of the page.
I would like to access the newsletters - but also the "Forum photo of the day". Bummer.
The longer I am a member, the more interesting things I find at DG.

That statement is really not a surprise.
Would help if I included the link.... DUH!
Here is the post number in case the link does not work.

Something weird is going on--when I had responded to you earlier, I went to the newsletter and it let me view today's newsletter just fine, but now when I go back it's giving me the same problem you're having, not recognizing that I'm logged in.
I read this earlier and had no problem. I'm on Firefox. I used the link posted. It never did show I wasn't logged in.
Unique Treasures - the link and post number I gave are ones that work for me. But I can only go to that page if someone posts a link to it, like they did in that post. I can't go to the newsletter/photo by any other method I have found.
okus - the ad is probably showing up because it is not recognizing you either. When I clicked on your screenshot, it shows "login" in the green bar instead of "logout" - I believe that means it's not recognizing you and wants you to login.
Well, at least it's happening to more than one person.
hmmm
I thought about that too so I also went to my homepage and went through the steps of Extras, etc. and it still worked just fine. I also saw the ads. I'm on high speed so I didn't think anything about it, though I do have my preferences to have them turned off.
Unique -- did you happen to notice if it said "login" or "logoff" when you got to the page? I am thinking, since you saw ads, that it says "login".....
okus...from the screen shot you show I see that you are not logged in. If you log in the ads will go away, especially if you have your preferences set for no ads.
It says LOGOUT until I click on the TODAY'S NEWSLETTER
I meant to add that if I follow the links to the Plant Files newsletter, or the Bugfiles one everything works as it should, its just the Dave's Garden one that causes a problem. Its the same problem with old versions as well as with the the current one.
There was a bug that was putting ads in the daily newsletter even if they were disabled for you. I have fixed the bug and future newsletters should have no ads.
Thanks Dave. You're always on top of things. Have a great weekend!
Sheesh Dave, you gave me a scare...don't usually hear from you on the week end and for a split few seconds I thought I had missed a night of work...whew!!!
Midnight shift this week, starts tonight :(
Dave, sorry to have to report I'm still seeing the adds with the newsletter, and that page still thinks I'm not logged in. I have refreshed, and the date/time is correct so its not a cached page.
I think it will apply to future newsletters...
But, when I click the link I gave above
http://davesgarden.com/nl.php?date=2007-04-15
which was in a thread on the Pets forum, this is what I get...
the newsletter, saying "login" but still shows the photos of the day for that day.
I don't understand why it says I need to login anytime I go to "Today's Dave's Garden Newsletter"

At least it is not just me.....
In a post above, Post #5176922 UniqueTreasures says she stays logged in until seeing the DG newletter.
and above, in Post #5177396, Okus says the same thing is happening.
so, that rules out my Mac, and Safari as the problem.
I see that the link I gave above that was in the Pets forum, goes to an old newsletter. That made me think to try old newsletters to see what would happen.
