Garden PhotosPart 15!
Great news. I want to try for denser plantings but have a few years more of annual plants before I can coast with out them, figured the trailers would cover the same space as a couple of annuals at twice the price.
You plant wave's in the ground?
I guess they qualify as trailers.Good idea for next year.
I have in the past.
Coleus and perilla and sweet potato vine go well together. Beautiful pictures, everybody!! We don't have nearly as many blooms yet, you really have to look.
Patti, guess what! One of the strange trees that came with our house is Syringa reticulata and it's blooming RIGHT NOW, and it smells fantastic! Not like a lilac, exactly, but really sweetly wonderful! It's not as big as the one we saw (not in bloom) in May, of course, but still . . . it was so neat to first of all know what it is (finally) and secondly be such a nice surprise!
I am so jealous over that tree, ge1836! I really wish I could grow them, but I don't think I have a single sheltered spot for it :(
Black lace elderberry is the closest replacement...just not the same though
Thanks Evie I wouldn't be having this much fun if it weren't for Victor and Dwaine Dave and Bill.
I am so "inluv" with them now.
Looks good, Jo Ann - congrats!
Amy, the iresene roots very quickly - I have about 10 from a single plant last year.
Thom, GS is one of my favorite oldies....I've had it for 7 yrs and won't part with it!
Debilu - how did you root it? i just cut them and stuck them back in the pot... (It works for coleus...)
That is really beautiful, Celeste. And i am not a rose person at all.
Isn't there a foliage plant called Joseph's Coat also? i think i looked at some at a nursery a while back.
I am closing my eyes..... even though the rose is beautiful.... I am still blaming you for "making" me buy 2 rose bushes this year
:)
Gentle Shepherd is very nice. I just planted Lime Frost which is supposed to be creamy white with a green throat. Wouldn't mind adding GS too. Everyone's Delphinium pictures got to me. I ended up coming home with 3 today. I'll post pics when they bloom, should be this week.

Thanks Allison....zone 8, would have to be a annual for me!
Thanks, Allison..! That one even looks kind of like iresine. There's a bunch of them - i like the "Party Time" version.
Amy, I've done it both in soil like you did, and in water. Both work well.
On another note, a couple nights ago I was tucking Durandi clematis back in and broke off about 12 inches. I set it aside to bring in to put in a vase. The next morning I went out and saw it still where I had left it. I brought it in anyway - and the blooms still look great, no wilt, I was amazed.
I have the party time & grenadine..... i overwintered them both and took cuttings in feb just like the coleus ... they are all doing great.... I even had one piece of party time in a planter in my computer room... and it's a north window... no extra light other than when we are in there at night... and it did great
Eleanor, lovely collection of plants and beautiful shots. Love that Japanese Peony , Miss Mary, especially .
Carrie, Wow, That is a big one, for sure. Does that tumbler thing work well for kitchen stuff? I have soooooooooo much yard and garden pruning that I would need a bevy of them for yard compost, but I could use one just for veggie scraps.
ge1836, Love your new JMaple and stone. Can't wait to see the installation. I saw some similar ones at the New England flower show. I must say I thought they were better than all the others, very appealing. I know you will love having it.
Saw a nice 'Shirazz' yesterday at the nursery. But way too pricey on Nantucket. I will wait to see how everyone does, before making that kind of investment. Plus I had only one JMaple for years, so I think I had better see if the two new ones like me well enough before buying more. I also saw a coral bark one that I loved. Victor do you grow that one? Here is one of the new kids leafed out yesterday. Inaba Shidare.
I was so busy in the garden today, that I didn't take time to snap a single picture. Tomorrow. I still have only one clematis out and no DL's yet. Lilies are starting, but slowly. Patti
Very nice, Patti. Shirazz? No, I did not get it yet. I'm also waiting.
How about one with coral bark? Patti
Sango kaku? No. I like the color on Beni kawa and it's smaller.
I've been gone for a few days - quick trip to Ohio and imagine my surprise when I see Patti's picture of Pelargonium sidoides!!! I saw this planted in a container at the nursery we visited, loved it but no ID - now I know what it is and I want it :) I'm having a hard time keeping up with this thread but drooling over all the gorgeous photos! Hoping to add a few of my own soon :)
Question for all of you - I'm looking for everyone's favorite white Clematis. I need to replace a couple on our gazebo and I want the largest flower for impact when viewing from a distance - any suggestions?
Very tough question, Debbie. What color are you thinking about?
What color of white?
Hee hee - missed that! Still drinking coffee. Well there is off-white...
heehee
I only have a few whites - not my favorites. I like them with dark colored shrubs.
